heat, heat, and more heat!

It is frighteningly hot and they say tomorrow...well, today, will be worse....It is 1 am in the morning and still over 80 degrees....plus humidity that is appalling. Bad air. Difficulty breathing. Warnings about Old People and the Infirm, exeriting themselves....OY! And it is even beastly hot in my house with my two little air conditioners, which usually keep everything quite bearable.....but, not after days and days of this.....I am even using my electric fans and my little battery operated personal fans, too.... This heat is not fit for man nor beast....
Trying to keep it all in perspective, but.....
Going back to lying down and doing nothing....Have a Lovely Labor Day, all.....Hope it isn't as hot where you are....

More To Come......I hope......

This heat is just unbelievable. I do hope you're able to continue to stay as cool as possible and breathing easily. I just hope the power stays on, the a/c equipment doesn't break down with such a hard round the clock workout. This aft. at 2 p.m. in the shade, I couldn't believe the thermometer -- 110 degrees in the shade. Remember the days when we didn't have air conditioning? But then, I don't think the temps and humidity were as oppressive for so long either.

It isn't very warm here and quite a breeze but at least there is some sunshine. We really are at the far ends of the spectrum:) I'll try to will a breeze your way.:)

I'm sorry to hear it's THAT hot, and the humidity is the worse part of it. I live in Miami, so I know what it's like, but we are spoiled with A/C. It's always freezing indoors and steamy outdoors.

The best thing to do is keep yourself hydrated and surrounded by your adoring "fans." : )

I do hope you are able to stay out of this heat. I know it can't be good for your lungs. I was happy to have it back down to 80 this weekend. We've been in the upper 90s so long it has been literally breath taking. I was happy to be able to work in my flowers and not melt during our yard sale.

I love that last cartoon! Doesn't that say it all?

I have passed on one of my 3 Nice Matters Award to you and I hope you will accept! I finally made my decisions and posted in today's post. You will be able to copy the icon and pass it to 3 others when you have the time.

Oh, how horrible, I didn't realise it was THAT hot in LA! 80F at 1am, that's unbearable. It's 28C (82C) here this morning, sunny with a nice breeze, and the occasional fluffy white cloud coasting by, and cooler at night, down to about 14C (57F). I have a spare bedroom if you want to come and stay for a few days!

I'm ready for some cooler days and nights!

Oh! I stay cool enough with the AC...but I look out the window and see the weeds taking over my gardens...Not good- but I don't have the energy and will to do much about it!

Glad you're managing to keep cool!

It's lovely in Ohio although that it's a bit cooler than usual makes me nervous that it might get cold and snowy early, too.

Your bromeliad looks beautiful! Hope you stay cool in the heat - you can always send some to the UK. We'vew had nothing but rain since Wimbledon! Came to visit and say thanks for popping in after you visted via Michele's!

This is why we stayed in San Diego one more day. We were supposed to go home yesterday but I couldn't face going home to that heat. Not that it's been cool in SD at 95 degrees but that's better than 107 degrees! I sent my brother-in-law to go turn on my AC so it will be cool when we get home. I wasn't about to let that run for 7 days while we were on Vacation. Stay cool Naomi!

Some days are unbearable aren't they? I like heat if I can cool down. Thank goodness for our swimming pool and airconditioners (we have 4 in our small apartment!)...but I live in the tropics and I'm (slowly) still getting used to it. But I do love it. Just remember to keep your fluids up!

Try to stay cool Naomi. That heat is terrible. I know it's hot here too, temp not as high but humidity makes it so. I am staying inside! Maybe you need to have a swamp cooler instead of a/c's. Just stay in and I'll be thinking about you.

This week should be better. I worked part of the weekend to get ahead.

Folks! Never forget L.A. was a desert, and despite all the wasted water and dangerous chemicals we pour on trying to make it something "it ain't", it still IS a desert! Every so often, Mother nature reminds us of that.

Your cactus and succulent garden must please her greatly--perhaps she will figure out a way to keep your place ten degrees cooler (lol).

In the meantime, keep your cool, enjoy an icy drink, and give Sweetie a rubdown with an ice cube.

My mom has been in southern CA for the last week, and she said it was the most horrid, horrid heat she's ever felt in her life....so, I believe you! It's so miserable to be that hot, and feel trapped like the air is so heavy you can't even get a good breath. That's how Louisiana was for me....so humid, I felt every breath I took, and it felt like it was a total workout just to breath! Sit a rocking chair by the a/c and drink some tea....ICED, that is. I have a water bottle with a mini fan on it, and I use that alot to "mist" myself...it seems to help. Hang in there, I'm sending cool Montana vibes your way!!!!!

Your bromeliad photos were gorgeous. I had never seen one bloom before.

On the heat, I have another friend who lives in LA and he is also in misery. When Southern Californians say it's hot, it is really hot. Arizona is the same way this year-- hotter than it's been. When you add humidity, that really makes for misery. Take care of yourself and when I have been in those situations without a/c, I take lots of cool showers or baths.

Yes, my dear friend, the CA temps have been ghastly!!
You are doing the wise thing by resting and not allowing the heat to overtake you. My heart goes out to those who do not have air conditioning.
We are finally getting some much needed rain. It has cooled down for us at last. We had nearly three weeks solid of very high temps, 100 & over. It's nice to have some relief.
I heard that your temps will cool down on Wed.
I surely hope so!!
Until then, curl up with Sweetie and RELAX.

Naomi,
please mail us tons of heat over here. Then we will be glad to return some cold air.
It's near freezing point at nights. Flowers are collapsing. Veggies die of the cold. I'm affraid our Tomatoes, Pepper and Grapes would not make it. We lit up in the fireplace every evening and the radiators are in use - to survive. This early - first week of September. This summer has shown no signs of global warming in this part of the world.

Relaxe and have lot's of ice-water

It's been hot up here but not like you're getting south. Please, please don't over do it. Stay by the AC, drink lots of water. I hate to think of you feeling so miserable - I know how I get in the heat and it's not good.
Don't you wonder what they did in the days of heavy dresses with petticoats and layers...no electricity therefore no fans....and ice not readily available. I would never have made it.
Stay cool dear Naomi!

Take care, Naomi. Don't go out in the garden in this heat, no matter how appealing it is. We have settled down a bit; it is in the low 90's now, except the high 90's and 100's. Isn't it too bad when you think low 90's is cool?!

My condolences on the heat. I personally wilt whenever the temps rise above 75. My Scandinavian heritage imbued me with cold weather genes I'm afraid.
