Last Friday night, Bill Moyers gave a commentary on his PBS show that I think is very very important. I am putting it up right here for you to see.....PLEASE, do yourself a favor and look and listen to this clear and sensitive commentary by one of the saner news people we are lucky enough to have on the airwaves in this year of 2008......
On a different note....
Sweetie seems to be very very happy with his new look...And I feel like I have a new little cat....! The same personality; The same sweet disposition, too...but what is surprising is how wonderful he feels.....It is a different experience petting him, but one that is absolutely delightful! There is still fur on his now really small warm body, it's just much much shorter. But it is still as soft as it always was...In fact, in a way....Softer!
What has been really nice too, he seems to be staying closer to me than ever, and I LOVE that! And here is a little teaser-preview of things to come......Who are they? Stay tuned........

One more thing: Two of my dearest and oldest blog friends lost pets in the last few days. Chickie, at Skittering Thoughts, lost Chi Chi. A very special dear little dog who was 17...Yes, SEVENTEEN years old....A long and good life, made better by Chickie, who loved and adored her and who gave this dear little dog the best year of her life! And, dear Rachel, of Sliding Through Life, lost her sweet young darling rescued cat Gooseberry, to the devastation of Feline Leukemia....dear Gooseberry was not even a year old. Both these women have the love and devotion to animals in common....and if you are so inclined, do go visit each of them to say hello during this painful time of loss......Here are these two sweet darling animals, in better days.......
Chi Chi was such a good sport! And just about the littlest dog I've ever encountered! Here she is, posing for Chickie and not unhappy about it at all......What a dear dog she was.
And dear sweet young Gooseberry, the day Rachel brought him home, having rescued him from the farm where she came every day to feed him and his siblings.....Whatever time he had with Rachel in her loving care, was better than he could have hoped for, given the terrible circumstances of his life in the barn. Without Rachel coming every day to feed Gooseberry and his brothers and sisters, he would not have survived, at all. Bless Chickie and Bless Rachel. And Bless dear Chi Chi and Dear Gooseberry, too, as they cross The Rainbow Bridge.More To Come.....

Oh, thank you Naomi for such a lovely post!! I do miss my little dear Gooseberry. Chi Chi is so cute and adorable. Oh, her heart must be breaking after having him for so long!! I cannot even think about Pup passing. He will be 11 this year.
Sweetie is such a dear. His hair will be back soon! I'm glad he's sticking close by you. Maybe he thinks you had this done as a punishment of some sort and he doesn't want anything else to happen!!

That's sad. I was a self proclaimed animal love cynic until I got my Max. I couldn't imagine losing him and would pay any amount of money to save him. It is amazing the unconditional love an animal can have for a human being. 17 years is quite a long life for a dog and I hope my baby will last as long. Unfortunately, he was bred poorly and has a heart condition and collapsed trachea so at three, living until five or six would be a surprise and a blessing. I remember after his heart scan, I called the breeder and told her she should probably not breed Mom and Dad anymore. She was very nice but asked me if I wanted to send him back for a new dog. It would have been like trading in my own child. (which has been tempting but that is another story all together.)

Great post Naomi..loved all the pics..2 of my dogs got the major groomed today lol, both total long hairs for the long cold winter we had, so they look almost pathetic today with no fur left. I had to actually put one of my little dogs, dresses on, so she would stop shivering..( I secretly love doing this to my husbands total chagrin..even though I rarely do dress them lol) Oddly enough..it was hubby himself that suggested I put somethng on her ..hahaha, he is such a big softy!!

The Moyers post is so right-on! It isn't only about racism, but about the "prevent theft-lock your mind" attitude which leads to guilt by association. Our schools fail to teach true critical thinking.

It is hard when you lose a pet no matter how long you have it. We lost our Andie about a year ago. She was 15 years old and, one day, she just disappeared and never came back. I looked all over the place for her but couldn't find her.

Thank goodness for photographs. For the second time today I have found I can't get any sound so clearly something is wrong. I'll try to sort it out. I'm so sad about the pets that died. I am going over to Rachel's next. I know how much she loves animals, so I'm sure she was very sad to lose Gooseberry.
I'm glad Gooseberry had Rachel's care for awhile, because any animal would be in hog heaven to be cared for by such a sweetheart as Rachel.
I'm eager to see more of those baby birds!!!!!

I saw Moyers interview with Rev. Wright, but had not seen this. I haven't even heard what he said later that week, it's all so biased, I don't even believe the news anymore. It's nice to see that not every media outlet is for sale.
I just learned this week that inter-racial marriage was against the law until 1967, here in the USA. Unbelievable.
