More To Come.........
Oh my goodness Naomi - those photos are amazing!!! And to capture the photo from nature itself, wow! We have Hawks and Eagles around these parts too but never quite get to see them sitting still...
I see a hawk occasionally always over in the same area and I always stop what I am doing to watch it. They really are magnificent. This year I have been seeing a pair of Cardinals quite often and I really love them. They are the state bird of NC so I grew up seeing them all the time but I don't see them very often here in Texas, so I'm really enjoying them. We also have Mourning Doves all over the place. I like their call.
As always - WOW!
You are *such* a good wildlife/plant photographer. I am, as always, very impressed by your 'eye' for things.
I will never know how you manage to catch such fantastic bird pictures!!!! Beautiful Naomi, just beautiful!
A few years ago, some doves nested in a walnut tree right outside my bathroom window. It was a real treat watching the babies hatch and grow every morning from such a close range!
Hawks are very "stately" looking birds, but something about them scare me! Maybe it's because they look so serious!
I could be wrong because it's difficult to gauge the size of the bird, but that looks like a Golden Eagle instead of a hawk. Great photos, whatever it is.
Cheers.
What great captures! Those hawks are majestic, so powerful...they are lucky to have a place to live in such a big city.
You have so much nature right around you Naomi!!! Just amazing indeed!! I don't see a lot of hawks but just occasionally. I love the doves!! They are such a sweet bird!!
Brilliant photos! Red tailed Eagle I think.
HAWK, I meant hawk!
Great captures!
We have a hawk-kind of bird that sits on a fence across the field. Although, it could be a red kite as the county is known for them.
Wow, how quick you are with the camera! Beautiful pictures!
Hi Naomi: Saw Lee on All My Children today. She looked wonderful, despite her hatred of the red wig! I don't think she could ever look terrible in any role - she is so beautiful.
Thanks for the heads up.
Anne
I love hawks - they are so powerful and graceful. We have 3 or 4 different kinds that frequent our area. And right now we have baby cactus wrens to watch as well! And I'm sure we'll have some baby starlings sometimes soon as they are hanging around the saguaro constantly.
What a great series of photos Naomi! These hawk photos are awesome! Did I tell you that I think it's so difficult to photograph birds? They don't still...I had few photos of birds on my archive...
So you did a good job here and the doves... Oh My, they looks adorable!
Have a nice weekend!
I can't believe these are not professional photos. You really have an eye for capturing nature, Naomi. It's the artist in you.
Fantastic pictures of those hawks, Naomi - you really captured their strength and beauty.
Hope you have an excellent sunny weekend !
Great photos. Just the other day as I walked I spied a hawk having dinner on a field mouse or something. He was across the creek. Suddenly he flew straight toward me. I took a pic. Outta focus. The hawk landed in the tall grass along the edge of the creek, took several gulps of water and took off for home. I tried, but there was just too much foliage. And he was too fast on his exit flight. I'll try again another time.
Thanks for these inspiring photos.
those are beautiful photos of the birds, especially the hawks. I love that first one. What power is shown
You had great luck getting those pics, Naomi. We have a hawk that lives in our woods and occasionally I see his huge shadow flying over our deck. One day he landed on the ball that is on top of our deck umbrella and by the time I got the camera, he had flown away.
stunning photos!
Magnificent birds! Now I must ask MTL the difference between a hawk and an eagle. When the wings are outstretched it looks similar to our buzzard- but larger and more impressive. I once saw a golden eagle in Scotland and had Scottish music playing on the car cd. Very moving. Popped over from Michele's.
I am a bird lover with several Nikon long lenses, but MS makes my grip too shaky, thank you so much for sharing these magnificent photos.
Beautiful, I am so glad you notice these magnificent birds. Thanks for sharing your photos..
These are spectacular-to-the-eye birds in your close-up photos. Really enjoy seeing them up close in the wild and watching them soar, dip and dive through the air. Wonderful they are around your area, but then I guess I shouldn't be surprised.
What a nice 'capture' Naomi and they are beautiful, glad you managed to see them around coz we are lucky to see this through you too :D
Have a nice weekend my dear friend :D
You got the shot! All of these made me smile, to look at them and to think of you taking them.
I commented on both of your comments at Loose Leaf. I sent myself here. Wish I could fly over.
Michele sent me back to see your hawks again, Naomi. They are wonderful birds.
That's a big bird! Be careful it doesn't swoop down and take you away!
You have taken some great pics of the hawks, Naomi. It's hard to focus when the birds are so far away. Do you use a tripod?
There are quite a few red-tailed hawks around here, and I have seen one catch a smaller bird in my back yard on two occasions. And sometimes there's a tell-tale pile of feathers under the pine tree, and I know that the hawk had his dinner there.
I'd have to hide Tiny Dog and Chi Chi if that first hawk was spotted in the sky! :)
hooray for spring - and for people who appreciate wild birds
i am here from michele's
Just dropping by to wish you a nice and lovely Sunday!
Many hugs, dear Naomi!
Great photos! That first one is really awesome!!
The eyes of those doves are so sweet and innocent looking. They are so round and wide and deep black like those eyes are trying to take in their new world.
Happy Sunday, Naomi. Enjoy your day.
:-)
Gorgeous hawk photos!
And the doves are very sweet. :)
