The little video above is a rather close look at the Bougainvillea down below, next to the other Date Palm in my garden....the smaller, much younger Palm....It all looks so pretty....especially the Fronds swaying in the breeze.....And this second one is that same younger Palm and the big one with all the fruit on it.....I just love seeing the fronds moving in the wind....! I went down into my garden again today...(Someone was with me, I'm happy to say....) And I was able to get much closer to those Seed Pods.....It was very very exciting....! They are really so very beautiful....And there will be more pictures of them, very soon....Here below....A "preview"....What a thrill, to get this close to these BEAUTIFUL little oval-ish roundish orange seed pods.....the 'fruit' of the Palm.....Oh, I cannot resist....Here is another view of this very magical art form that nature has created, all on her own. Without us. Without the meddling of man.Very hard not to show you more, now that I've started.....Okay. One more, till next time. There Will Be......
More To Come.......
Very beautiful Naomi!! I really enjoy seeing the wind blow the palms around!!
Those seed pods have so many!! Amazing!!!
I'm so glad you were able to get down into the garden for some close up and personal time with your lovely plants!!
I want to say thank you very much for the book... I got it yesterday - I don't win things often but that was a buzz for me when I won... very interesting book... then to have a book published... I could do that (not)... hehehe... once again... thank you... (and can never get sick of looking at your garden)... take care
Oh my! What an explosion of orange fruity color. I too love that nature does that without any help. It's amazing and magical, the stuff that legends and myths are made from.
I enjoyed the videos and photos, Naomi! So lovely was to hear your voice, the wind blow the palms and the birds... Love so much these orange seeds, too! A nice post to the Earth Day!
Many hugs!
I enjoyed the little video of the palms, we don't have palms here in Iowa, so that was a real treat. I can't even begin to imagine how beautiful your garden must be to walk through.
You can really hear that wind blow and what a nice effect it has on the palms. I don't think Florida palms look quite that pretty; they're usually burnt brown on the ends.
You also captured some good shots of the seed pods. Your garden is a delight; I'm glad you had some company to share it w/.
There used to be a "date-shake place" out in Palm Springs that had a delightful take-off on educational films called "The Sex-life of the Date Palm". (lol) Your wonderful photography puts that to shame. Your tree is beautiful, your work is beautiful, you're beautiful!
The seed pods are stunning!!! Those colors just make me smile!!!
Have a great one!!!
What freaky but beautiful plants! Nothing like we have here!
It's beautiful, Naomi!!!
Now I feel I have neglected my very own palm tree just because it is right there and I go by without truly noticing it...You always make me open my eyes! thank you :)
That was very pretty and I loved the sounds of the birds. Next time maybe zoom back out before the end to give us a view of the plants in the whole garden.
hmm, could have sworn I commented ... oh well..
I love your little videos, no matter what they are about because we get to hear your voice! For some reason it makes me feel more like we've really met before..:o)
Glad you enjoy it. Your garden looks like the perfect place to sit and meditate.
Cheers.
Those palm fruits are fascinating and pretty.
Your garden is a dream! Next time I'm in LA I'd love to see it!
Those seed pods are such a vivid colour, so bright and sunshiney!
BTW it's our annual Variety Show time. I sing in the chorus and I'm in one dance number, pics are posted on my blog. Shall I save you a couple of seats?
I was thinking about you yesterday when I went to pay my cell phone bill. At the T-Mobile store they have some really beautiful cactus blooming in the back parking lot. They are planted next to the parking spaces and you have to be careful how you get out of your car. It is amazing how dangerous those spikes are on the plants...I have been poked several times. It is an oxymoron how something so beautiful can hurt you so easily.... I love your date palms. Nature does some really nice handy work.
Those palms are gorgeous! Such beautiful graceful movement in those fronds. Do you know what my favourite bit is? At the end of the first video one frond curves towards the camera adn I love the shape it makes. :)
The Bouganvillia is so pretty too. What an explosion of colour through those fronds!
That is a most beautiful ballet of plants - I wonder what music they were dancing to? And if any colour can raise the spirits it has to be that vibrant orange. We are lucky to have your eyes to spot such sights and show then to us. Thank you Naomi.
Naomi, you can bet that those places that serve a lot of rice wil have to raise their prices sooner or later.
Naomi: thank you for your comment regarding our little local Variety Show, it's so much fun being involved in something like this, but of course, you know all about show business but on a slightly grander scale! We are on stage tonight at 8pm!!!
I know all about "Break a Leg" but I have to ask you... "MERFE"???
Translation please!!!
We are going to end up seeing you on the nature channel one day! That was so neat, the wind blowing through the palms was great.
For the first time ever I found baskets of Bougainvillea at the nursery while out with mom and I went right for it but then she talked me out of it. She said she'd tried a basket last year and it was so much work. Our climate is just not for it. She said I'd have a lot of work unless I bought one more into like June. So I resisted. But I love those things!
They look yummy, but I bet they don't taste as sweet as they look.
Those fronds swaying gently give a feeling of relaxation. Very nice.
Courtney and I went to the gardens here, and I took a photo of a cluster of seed pods-grape-like fruit on a tree that was unfamiliar to me. Nature is amazing!
The creativity in the plant kingdom is remarkable!!
Fabulous!!!! I always enjoy the visits to your lovely gardens.
Just a note to let you know that I mailed off your magnets today. Please let me know if they arrive safely!!
I wanted to wait to see who won before I made them, so I could sort-of try and to match up personality w/ the magnets.
I hope you like them!!
When I see your Garden as presented by you, I sometimes feel we are living on different Planets.
Here we have 3-4 of intensive months with growth. And maybe 3 months when we can swim in the Sea.
Then nothing. Our 4 seasons. Have changed. Yeah, something like cold and temperated spring/fall. At least close to the Sea. But in the mountains this year: Record when talking about Snow.
Yeah yeah - I'm facinated by this tiny globes differences.
Sorry for my "absence" lately. I did post about it TORsday evening.
I would have to pull some of those pods off to throw at something.
Hey, I don't know if you ever read Mike's blog but he had a post up about smoking and it reminded me of reading yours. You can see his here.
OH wow! Those orange seed pods are really something! So vibrant. I just love them.
