stormy sunday

So this video above is how it looked on Sunday....Not ALL day....but certainly for one part of the afternoon....The rain had stopped up here on the hill so I could go out on the very very windy and extremely cold cold deck, and shoot some video of the amazing sky that surrounds me....For whatever reason, this has so far been a very cold and windy winter, in a more consistant way than I recall it being in recent years.....I love that we have been having rain, since we need it so badly. I know the plants in my garden love the rain, too.....Not so much the cold....but, they are doing just fine.....

The second little video is kind of sweet.....there is a wonderful bird...a Hawk I believe, circling about.....I got in as close as the Video Camera would let me.....and stayed in close after the Hawk went out of camera range.....Enjoy!

And here is a picture or two a bit earlier and quite a bit darker in tone....The Clouds were more threatening at the time of these pictures below.....

And the same view from further back.....
Below.....The very strange look of gray that obscures any and all details of the buildings in Downtown Los Angeles..... And here is one more picture of this stormy overcast day......Closer in on those big buildings that make up our so called Downtown......here, a few details are visable.....

Another Rainy Sunday is over now....The winds have quieted down and though it is still very very cold....a calm has decsended along with the night......

More To Come.......

Note: My Spell Check hasn't worked in days and days.....Anyone else experiencing this Blogger abiration??? And are there any suggestions as to what I might do to get it working again....? My undyimg appreciation would be forthcoming...

Stunning, Naomi! Just stunning! I love the greys and blues of the city under those threatening skies...lol, I think if I lived at your place I'd spend my entire time out on the deck!!!

PS: be sure and let me know how you go with the almond tree!

Marvellous pictures. I kept looking those.

Good to be here on a Monday afternoon. When there is spell check problem, I write in MS word. Spell check it and cut/paste it on here. That works great.

Usually I write my poetry posts that way as I have edit that sometimes. No direct writing on my blog. Reviews, I do write directly.

You know who sent me here..

Loved your video....that hawk was beautiful to watch.
I SO agree on the weather. I'd have to say this has been the worst Jan. in the 21 years I've been in Florida.
Rainy, windy, raw, cold and just miserable. Very few days of sunshine. I'm hoping Feb. will be much better!

Love seeing your videos, Naomi! The sky, the heavy clouds, the sound of the thunder storm, the view to LA and the hawk! Great photos, too! But I specially LOVE to hear your voice, dear Naomi! Your voice is SOOOO BEAUTIFUL!

Have a nice day!

Isn't it odd that you are having a colder and wetter winter this year... while I am having a profoundly warmer and dryer winter on the East coast! Your photographs are as beautiful as ever, my dear... and *sigh* it has been tooooo long once again! Let me run on down your blog now and see what you've been up to!

Oh I love the contrast of the clouds and the skyscrapers. The skies have been marvelous, haven't they? We never left the house on SUN... just stayed in, and listened to the rain.

If your little camera ever breaks, we've all got to pitch in & get you a new one because these videos are fantastic!
We have a big hill behind us & behind that (well about 10 miles) is the ocean, so we get these gigantic black clouds that come over. I love them, they're so awesome.
I'm glad we're having a wet & cold winter. My toes aren't, but I am.

We had a horrible rainy stormy Sunday night, sounds about the same time as your stormy weather!

I love the first video, especially as you panned towards your sentinel trees and the sun blazed through the clouds, imbuing your sentinels with their own spotlight - kinda!

My spell checker isn't working on my laptop at work but it's working fine on my desktop at home. It's weird. I'm using the same browser on both machines--Blogger should work the same...

I just love your weather report Naomi and the vid was wonderful. Both the view of the city from your window and also the Hawk (did not know you had that bird - it's common in Norway too!)

As you may see from my last post; we've had a lot of rain too. To much for a winter in Oslo, Norway as we would have loved it to be snow at this time of the year you know.

So I know the liking of temperature is relative: I would have liked to see it below freezing right now: nice, fresh and crispy :-)

Wishing you a great week Naomi!

You certainly have a wonderful view over the LA skyline from your house, no matter whether it's a cold and windy sky or warm and sunny. I bet you could just sit and look at the view for hours on end. Lovely!
I have only been in LA once, and I spent the day at Universal Studios!

Even the stormy skies of the city look beautiful from those hills. Naomi, you really have so much beauty to look at.

I loved that indecisive hawk flying this way and that. Nice footage.

Naomi, I tried the hawk video, but it said it was unavailable at the moment.

It seems odd that your weather is like that while we have sunny warmth and temps at 64 today and 76 tomorrow.

Great shots again naomi. They actually made me feel a little cold. *shudder*

My Blogger spell check hasn't been working for a few days either - very annoying. Doesn't work on my PC or on the Mac Laptop. *urgh*

I love the hawk! Often when I'm in my backyard I see a large hawk in the northeast sky. It's always mesmerizing. I don't use spellcheck because it doesn't correct words that are misspelled that are still words, so I can't help you there.

Hi Naomi! Sensational! Especially the hawk whisking in and out of the grey clouds. Also the silhouettes of the skyscrapers?! Great pictures. Thank you.

Naomi: I usually ignore spell check as American spelling differs to ours sometimes. I always have my dictionary to hand, and like Gautami, I write in Word and then copy and paste to Dashboard.
Love the videos and photos - we are having similar weather - with no let up, and we have buzzards instead of hawks - or maybe buzzards are hawks.
My site meter isn't working and it's a very boring housework type day here. Deep sigh!

When I was in LA I felt the chill coming from a sunny island all year round so when I saw your video I felt the icy coldness too :D

Have a great week Naomi, it's our lunar new year so I might 'disappear' for a few days before I visit your blog again...take care :D

That wind sounded pretty loud Naomi! Great pictures and video's. I think the hawk was trying to decide if you were light enough for him to pick up and carry off or not!! HaHa!!

Isn't it wonderful how the sky can be forever changing? These videos and pics are certainly moody. You have such a great wide view from your home that the weather becomes quite a spectacle. Mind you if you like the rain and wind you are certainly welcome to some of ours. We have far too much here LOL!

What a difference a day makes!
We have what Courtney calls Bi Polar Weather here in AR, especially at this time. We go from being in the 60's and even the 70's one day, then freeze our bohunkuses off the next day. It's crazy!
I know CA needs the rain, so I'm glad you've gotten quite a bit this winter.

As for Blogger... it has NOT been kind to me either.
I cannot get it to upload a photo for my icon. I've tried several times and even read the help section.
Blogger just won't cooperate! I'm doing it like I've always done it before, but so far it's a no go.
Oh pooh!!!

What a contrast in Weather from Sunday to Monday. It's amazing how fast it changes. However - it was good for the Nature you had rain.

The Hawk video is great. It's fascinating to follow these Birds when they are looking for their Prey.
