dishes, and....

As you can see from the picture above, there are 5 dishes of wet food and one of dry (in the foreground) on my kitchen floor. This was a slow day....Before the day is finally done, there will be one more dish of wet food put down on the floor...possibly even two! But, we have not come to the end of the day yet....These photos were actually taken in the mid-to-late afternoon..... And on different days, I might add.....Yes, this is a daily affair here on the hill.....I am often asked, "How many cats do you have?" When I say "One"....there is shock, surprise and amusement....! "One?" someone asks not sure they actually heard me correctly. Indeed! This is Sweetie's Smorgasbord....and it starts out, like this..... And in very short order----like 5 minutes or so, it goes to this.....And, depending on someones interest and ability to look at me with this very penetrating stare that never wavers till I fulfill his wish....it then goes to this..... And, so on and so forth....I think you are getting the picture.....Later in the day....like, two or three hours later...more dishes get put down, as I said...And it is a variety of flavors, of course....And just to illustrate the fact that he does eat off all of these dishes during the day....guess who came into the kitchen to nibble a bit while I was taking pictures! And then...... He actually was eating off of Dish #2....once again....And then....back to Dish #1...... And then....he moves away. Sweetie is a great believer in the '6 small meals a day' theory of weight control! He eats a little off of each dish throughout the day, switching to the dry food for a nice little change of pace occasionally...... Here he has moved away to lick his chops while cleaning his lovely whiskers....and,doing a little bit of washing of other parts, as well.....He is a very happy camper.....(To see what the dishes look like in the morning, I will have to take a picture when I get up.....) And after having his fill, 'The Mister' goes off to his favorite spot on my bed for a little snooze.....After all, one must rest after a hard day of eating.....!

More To Come......

NOTE: Do yourself a BIG favor and go visit OldHorseTailSnake otherwise known as Hoss....He had a post up on (January 15th) to commemorate his 3rd blogging Anniversary that is utterly priceless....I haven't laughed like that in a very long time....The post was one of his very first posts back in 2005 when he started his blog. Many of you are already familiar with Hoss, but for those who aren't....well, you will no doubt become a 'regular' reader after reading yesterdays post....Go over and give yourself a real treat!

I sure hope that my cat does not see this.
One dish of dry food that lasts for days and a daily treat of wet food. I may have to buy some more dishes.

Naomi - Even though I read your blog daily (I'm a friend of Deana's at Friday Night Fish Fry)I think I've only posted a comment on your blog once or twice.

This post cracked me up! I have two cats and they share one can of wet food in the morning and another can at night. At my house we call it "mushy food". If they are hiding somewhere in the house, all I have to do is yell "MUSHY FOOD!" and they both come running!

Sweetie is so gorgeous!

Uh, Oh...I have to agree with Bud. If my cats see this, we may have mutiny here at my house. I thought we spoiled our 3 kitties, but I'm afraid you've taken "spoiled" to a whole new level...lol
But Sweetie is well, just so sweet....why not? Us humans have choices with food throughout each day....why shouldn't Sweetie? He's so gorgeous and love the photo of him sleeping...lol Poor cat's exhausted after all that dining.

Sweetie sure does have a great life! And I don't know why I keep wanting to call him Snowball. My girlfriend indulges her cats wildly and I can see her being inspired by your post here. (so I'm not going to show it to her!)

You are such a wonderful "servant"... I say that because we are always called pet "owners" but they truly rule the roost.

So, again...
What a lucky cat to have such a wonderful servant ;)

LOL! That is so funny, especially because I know how fussy our feline companions can be when it comes to food and how far we will go to accommodate their wishes! Bob is a fussy eater too, he will give me the most level stare and look of disdain if I put something down that he doesn't approve of. LOL! Sweetie is one lucky kitty and that last photo of him napping made me laugh :)

Dear Naomi...You are a bad girl! You and that blue-eyed Sweetie of yours are just partners in crime...that's all I can say.
My poor dad lies ill in the hospital and here I am laughing so hard!!
Bernie and his cat, Shopping News are snoring and sawing logs in the bedroom and it is just as well they don't hear me chuckling. They would think I had gone mad!!

This is so,so cute this post and when I have a few minutes I am going to send some other cat lovers that I know here to read it!
In the meantime I had better be thinking of that dear old daddy of mine, who by the way went through his operation with flying colors and is doing really well, thanks to praying friends and thanks to God.

Catch ya' later .....Love Terry

PS.. Oh that spotless floor!!

PS..God bless you!

that is so cute. What an adorable cat and no wonder you spoil him. Good thing my cats can't blog as they'd expect better than they get although there were six dishes on my floor also this morning but for three cats and three of them needed to go in the dishwasher. They get their dry food in the utility room; so I don't count those dishes

btw - Charlie sleeps like that, legs akimbo. Very odd - but so, SO cute....

Oh dear,
this is a fantastic witness of how Cats are able to choose what's now for me the best diet.
In fact, we do excactly the same with our two "kids".

People that do not know about Cats, never understand. They are very like Humans that know the importance of all the time "change food" -no favourite, no "I'm hungry - need something". Oh no. The Cats want and need a varity of food - unless Polluck for dinnner. Yeah, we buy them frozen in 4Xw blocks. Heat them in hot water (not coocking). 18 minutes - I start the Alarm Bell -pip-pip-pip. Then Rosa and Felicia goes to their places.

We love Cats. And you have a most wonderful one. Give a good hug from over here.

PS. We will be away during the weekend. Our Cats are now with Stompa and my x-wifes home.

I totally love his tail--and his appetite! You are very generous. I've pretty much stopped giving Wendell wet food because he cries for it, then usually eats two bites before ignoring it. . . even without his fangs (they were all removed last year) he prefers dry. Now, if we're talking human food, that's another story. Can't get enough.

Does yours wake you up at 4a.m. because he doesn't like to eat alone? Mine does!
