christmas card photos

Tor over in Norway, posted some Christmas Cards that he and his wife Anna received this year from people in Norway showing typical Norwegian scenes....And I thought, what a fun idea....! But I decided that I will post some "photographs" that either came in the Christmas Cards or were the cards, themselves....And you may recognize some of these people...like in that top picture! That is the very dear and incredibly talented Tom Skerritt and his dear lovely wife, and their two 'loved ones'! Such a sweet picture! I have known Tom since 1963. Once again, it's the Theatre West connection. And by the way, Tom is not only a superb actor, he is a brilliant writer, too....! We became very good friends through this professional connection and back in the day, he wrote these two one-act plays that were done at Theatre West I (1968) which he asked me to produce....And I did. "The Piano Teacher" with Richard Dreyfuss and Ruth McDevitt, a truly lovely piece of work, was one of those two, one-act plays.....But I will save all this and more about dear Tom, for another post..... And in the picture above....The very incredibly talented Actor/Director/Writer/Teacher/Friend, Michael Kearns and his dear daughter Tia.....This actually is not from this year, but I loved this picture so much I had saved it! It is so truly sweet...Tia, IN the Christmas Stocking....! Indeed, what a dear and delightful Christmas Present this card was to me! And then there is this lovely picture below...... This is a very dear one that I had saved....Anne Leydon, (She was in a play of mine back in 1988, and was Wonderful.....) And her dear husband Bill Sehres--Actor and Teacher, (We have worked together too, only with Bill, he helped me with my Retrospective Art Show, in 1997. And maybe most memorably, I was the officiant at there wedding back in March of 1989.....) Charlie, Anne, Jack, & Bill....'With another one on the way in April'.......

So. Here they are below, in 2007, and there's little Seamus, the one who was being born in 'April', in the above Christmas picture...... Jack is standing next to his Mom, and Charlie in front of his Mom Anne, who has her arm around him, and Bill---his Dad, with his hand on Anne's arm, and dear Seamus ('and one expected in April..') in front of Jack...Really a sweet sweet picture.....

And here below, another very dear sweet special picture.....This too is from a number of years ago..... Annie Guilbert's two Grandchildren...Isn't this a fabulous picture? Taken by one of her son-in-laws who, it just happens, is a professional photographer.....I think this is just about as dear as it can be.....This, too, is a Christmas Card I saved because I just loved it so very much.....these two girls are teenagers now.

There are a lot more....and maybe I will do another post, if you all are enjoying these photo's....I LOVE looking at them and posting them, myself, but maybe this is boring to other people....For me...these are 'treasures', and I am trying to scan in and save, as many of these treasures, as possible......One More 'Teaser Picture'...... Dom & Carol DeLuise and Family, 2007! I've known Carol Arthur DeLuise since 1953....!

Yes, that's right.

You Do The Math....

I love continuity.......!

More To Come............

Wonderful post, Naomi! I love getting photo cards and I love seeing yours too. We got one that showed 3 pugs dressed in Santa hats. I don't think I kept it, or I'd post it here. The photo of the two girls from behind is truly wonderful!

I love Christmas cards so much. It's fun to see the cards that other people get. Should I admit that I keep all the Christmas cards I get? Especially the picture ones because I love to see the people change and children grow each year. :)

I published today some pictures of my Christmas in Amsterdam. I can tell you this city is depressing at this time of the year !

Oh I love this post! What a wonderful idea to do the photos as a card, that is something I would love to do for next year (if I have time!! No - I will MAKE time!!!). My job is keeping me ridiculously busy, as you may have guessed. But at least xmas is over and things can hopefully now settle down a bit. Sorry to ramble! All I meant to say is 'great post!!!'. :)

Naomi, I would never be bored with looking at all these lovely cards. How neat is that! I only received three cards this year that were photos...one was from my chiropractor; the other for the daughter of a friend of mine from the 60s. My friend has passed on - but her daughter continues to keep in touch. I love that she does. The other was an actual photo taken by a friend and turned into a card.

Maybe next year I'd do a card of us...

This is such an awesome post ... you are blessed to be connected with so many wonderful families over a long period of time. Please post more here!

I had forgotten just how special Christmas cards can be ... I sadly didn't send any this year - but hope to make up for it and send out cards to celebrate the Chinese New Year instead.

We didn't get any photos tucked away in cards this year.

Michele says hi ... and so do I.

You know me so well, I had a little thrill when I saw Tom's sweet craggy smile....one of my enduring Hollywood crushes :-)

hmm - I think I may have to break out Steel Magnolias today!

I'm with Judy, I love that photo of the lovely little girls - how precious is that?

The tradition of getting the family to the 'Christmas Card Photo' session and then sending them out hasn't really taken off over here.
If it ever does - will we be able to get Charlie to sit as still as the Skerritt's cat? :-)

I've been a little poorly the last couple of days, but I am intending to post the Crazie Christmas with (woo hoo!) photos!!

Wonderful Post Naomi!
I adore Christmas cards with photos of families and children, particularly from friends who always remember us no matter how far away. I also love the Christmas letters that tell us all their news and the special events of their lives. Like you, I have saved some over the years and consider them among my souveniers.

My favorite part of the holidays is getting Christmas cards. The letters that go on and on and brag about this and that, drive me up a wall, but I like the pictures. It's amazing to me to see how much the kids have grown and the adults have grayed. LOL

I knew if I came over here there would be a post that would suck me in. You never fail to disappoint, Naomi! Have a Happy New Year my friend! :)

It's wonderful that Dom and Carol have been married for over 30 years. Quite an achievement in today's Hollywood.....

Michele sent me back tonight, Nay. Just a couple of visits before bed.

You've attracted a wonderful circle of friends and confidantes over the years. Thanks for sharing them with us, Naomi.

I wish you better health and many sunny days in 2008!

you are incredible, mentioning an unknown man from Norway, only written some synopus for comedie theatre years ago in a language spoken by less people than living in L A area.

how fun. I've been fortunate to get to know a few celebrity families over the years since I've lived in Palm Springs. Lots of folks from LA/Hollywood have been coming out again for weekend get-aways and also buying weekend houses. Eveything old is new again.
PS- do you know Dick Van Patten? He's getting a star on the Palm Springs Walk of Stars on Jan 12th. he knows Dom and Carol I believe...

Oh, and I'm sorry you couldn't read my blog! The text is black, and it's on gray...apparently, too dark of a gray! Do you know how to highlight text? That will make the background white and the text blue! Regardless, thanks for stopping by :-)
