Since there seemed to be a lot of interest in the Raccoons that were in that Dumpster in my last post, I thought I would give you a treat or two....Here above, a family of five Raccoons having a fabulous meal....!
And then, this one above is a short but cute video of two baby raccoons...this is so dear....And the last one, below...Is as cute as it can be! A couple of Raccoons, Wrestling....LOL! This one will make you smile and warm your heart, too!

As ever, your photographs of the bee visitors are amazing. That post is a study in bee behaviour! :)
It also sounds like you are having one heck of a clear out. That is something I really need to do as well though it is definitley an emotional ride at times. I think I need to gte rid of some cobwebs though. Good luck with the rest of the clear out!
As for those racoons - how sweet! When I stayed in the suburbs of Detroit we had a racoon who used to come and visit on the deck there. We used to feed him nuts and cookies. I think Rachel feeds raccoons that come up onto her porch.
We used to have a pet raccoon many years ago just after we were married.
A young man we knew had found a nest of babies and gave us one. We named him Rascal and raised him until he became an adult and started getting more aggressive. He left one day and never came back. I think he found a lady friend.
Thanks for reminding me of the actor's name (Jim Broadbent) in the movie, Longford. My brain shut off when I was writing my comment to you and I couldn't recall anything.
I will definitely look for Enchanted April. I can search for it on my DirecTV and see if it is coming up on any movie channels. If not. I can find in on DVD elswhere. It sounds like my kind of movie.

I recorded Pictures of Hollis Woods this past Sunday night. It's a Hallmark movie starring Sissy Spaceck. It is a heartwarming story, and I enjoyed it.

That is just so good of you. You really took the time to please everyone. I just so love those videos. The first one....oh they really seemed to be hungry. They're feasting on the food but were wary about your video. The second one is just oh so cute. They seemed to be so comfortable in that blanket made like a hammock or is it a real hammock? The third one as you said was right....they really made me smile. It was fun watching them play ..... just being carefree.

First two videos were no longer available but the 3rd one was just as cute and reminiscent of two little boys wrestling. I always knew when a raccoon came calling because it made a lot of noise trying to lift the metal cover to my underground dumpster. It was fascinating to watch as when food was found it called the young ones down from the tree in our front yard where they had been safely hidden and quietly they all marched down the street together.

Yep. Raccoons are cute. I took some photos of one last month when I rented a cabin near Asheville, NC, Naomi. That critter was bold as could be--my being there with a camera didn't faze him one bit.

We fed/named a raccoon a few years back. We thought it was male until it gave birth to a family. One night Husband rescued one of the babies from falling off a gutter. When they are friendly (or at least cautiously friendly), raccoons are delightful company. We, of course, didn't have any trash that they could get into...or I might not have felt so warm toward them.

we have possoms here - my last house had a small community of them living in the roof. Because they're protected its not legal to bait or trap them so I was stuck with the noisy little blighters. Just before I moved out a very wise person told me that all one needs to do to get rid of possoms is to install an electric light in the ceiling - as they are nocturnal they soon move on to a darker place . Darn, that could have been so easy.

My husband had a raccoon as a pet when he was growing up in Massachusetts. Now we get them on our deck. I love to watch them eat the cat food with their tiny black hands as they stare at us with eyes that say, "Please don't take this delicious meal away from us."

OMG how cute are they. Love them. When I was very young we went to a place here in Massachusetts called Benson's Wild Animal Farm. It was like a petting zoo I guess. The racoons were behind some kind of chicken wire and you could give them peanuts in the shell. I still remember how gently they took the nuts from my hand and how remarkable their little hands were. Thanks for the wonderful views.

Oh wow....I really enjoyed this! That first one was amazing...I couldn't get over how the one on the right kept his face RIGHT on the camera/person filming while reaching out for more food...lol
And did I hear somebody burp? lol This was just too cute...thanks for sharing, Naomi. I loved it and now I know what I want for Christmas.....A racoon! lol Well, I have the cat anyway....a Maine Coon cat, with a fluffy, big tail just like they have.

I never quite think of racoons as 'real', I suppose in a way you might not think koalas are 'real'. They (the racoons, and yeah the koalas too) are soooo cute!
I remember when I first visited the UK and seeing my first squirrel and how cute I thought they were. Notice how I said "I thought", they were? Really liked these racoon videos.
I was awakened in the wee hours of the morning a few weeks ago by noises of creatures fighting, unlike any sounds I'd ever heard before. Thinking they were in an area I wouldn't be able to see out my window I made no attempt to see what they were.
The next morning areas of my side yard had large swatches of sod turned upside down and what appeared to be rather large size footprints. Later someone identified that scene as probably attributable to racoons looking for grubs. In over thirty years here we've never had this happen before.
We did have a rather large racoon on our roof leaning and reaching out to my children from over the roof at our front entrance some years ago. They are cunning animals.- Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at 11:23:00 PM PST

I can't believe I missed there, they're so amazing! In the first video, they really did make me think of bandits. They were reaching, stuffing their faces and the whole time looking at the cameraman, funny that nature decided to endow them with this sign right on their faces. I love raccoons, so adorable! I know a lot of people don't because of the mess they cause but I don't care.
I saw a man this summer carrying two baby raccoons on his shoulders, they were practically newborns. He was bringing them to an animal rescue but I got to touch them and I was absolutely enamored.
