The bees love these flowers on this 'Old Man' Cactus....They absolutely Love, Love, Love these flowers......So, I have put together a post, showing a bee or two having the best time, ever!But first......But first. Mamacita has awarded me the Perfect Post Award for November......Here is the very special 'Icon', symbolizing this very special Award.
Now, is he sweet or what? Look at the 'intention' here....It is so very clear what he is all about in this moment.....I find it thrilling, inspiring and so very beautiful.....everything about this simple direct activity is breathtaking!
Hanging on to the side of this flower---supping on all the lovely yummy stuff there.....I love that the bees are everywhere here in my garden, wherever there are flowers just waiting for them to pollinate....I don't pretend to understand anything about this process...I just know I enjoy capturing pictures of these industrious Bees as they go about the business at hand....
Some of these will look like duplicates...but they aren't. Each one of these is an individual picture because I am fascinated by the wonderful doings of the bees and these flowers....(These are the flowers I call 'the penis flowers'....they are most unusual in every way...and these are as 'open' as they ever get....)
These flowers have no discernible scent, at least not to me...perhaps they do have a scent that only the bees can detect....All I know is, the bees know when these flowers are open and ready! Don't you find that amazing? I know I do.
The incredibly abundant flowers this past season just knocked me out...And this plant is starting to flower, again! I'm not sure if time has passed very quickly or it is flowering again because of our strange and unpredictable weather.
Here above....another view on another day....and another bee, doing his thing! I love the juxtaposition of the fuzzy white hairs and the dark rich red flowers.....Beautiful!
Isn't he just gorgeous? The perfection of Bees....The Beauty and the amazing life they lead....Oh, I dearly hope these bees keep coming back to my garden....they make my heart sing!So......Oh yes......there will be......

This "Old man cactus" is new to me. Never seen one before but what a beautiful thing in bloom! So many times bees don't look like the famed "bumble bees" but these do and the thing that strikes me is the old saying that goes with them "busy as a bee"....hmmm maybe it's the honey that makes the difference:)

The bees are delightful, and I am fascinated with the Old Man Cactus and it's unusual flowers. Is this a rare plant or can they be seen in many gardens in your neighbourhood?
We have just returned from a month lounging on the beach in Florida, had a wonderful time, but now we are home in S Ontario Canada and it's snowy, windy, icy, and COLD! I should have stayed under that palm tree I think! Thanks for the visit, Naomi, and for your concern. Yes, I worked 42hours in 8 days, which is a lot when you consider that most of that 42 was on my feet! I stayed in bed most of Sunday and today I had to wear a heat pack on my back, but it is better. I don't work again doing Christmas decor until Wednesday and Thursday, and perhaps part of Fri. I might have some more work, but it won't be too stressful.
We will not do much decorating here this year, since mr. kenju is unable to help me get stuff down from the attic, we will probably just set the pre-lit tree up and I'll put some bows on it, but nothing else. Fascinating pictures of the bees harvesting pollen. You do take such excellent photos.
Did you happen to see the article in the L.A. Times some weeks ago describing small yellow mustard-like spots some people were noticing on their cars? The article caught my eye because my car has had those little round yellow spots every day for the longest time and I couldn't figure out what they were. Seems they're "bee poop." Who knew! I did a Google Search and here's just one site with a picture:

Bees, like hummingbirds, NEVER stay still. Bees will land though and sit a moment sometimes, but hummingbirds... forget it!!
I saw one of the movies you recommended awhile back when you were viewing DVD's for the Emmys.
I can't remember the name of it, but it has a British male star, but I can't remember his name either. He was working on behalf of a woman convicted of murdering a child. Honestly, i dont award folks, i probably dont have enough readers to award anyone anything so as anyone else would notice, but i have often been moved by things you wrote, so i totally understand and agree with you receiveing an award for the excellent things you share.
Thank you for your concern over our storm. The flooding in some places is down right awful. we were so fortunate, i think we live in the only town in the north western section of the state who didnt see severe effects from the wind rain and flooding. we got lucky!
