More To Come......
Note: Please go over to Colleen's blog...Loose Leaf Notes, and read this fantastic powerful poem she wrote 'A Dream For President Bush'. I think it is absolutely right-on-the-money....! Do yourself a favor....Click on Colleen's name right here and it will take you directly to it! BRAVA, Colleen.
Those cacti you have are just fantastic!! Unlike anything I've ever seen. And that little finch is just adorable!
Thanks, as always, for sharing!
Here by way of michele this time...
That fruit really does look something special :)
Mmm time to raid the fridge I think....
Here via Michele ;)
I swear the finch is smiling. You've made this perfect little ecosystem for birds of all feathers to enjoy: I'm sure they'd thank you if they could.
Once again, I'm thinking you need to frame and mount some of these photos, Naomi.
What a beautiful fruity finch you have there! You were able to get him several action shots and managed to capture his personality. What a wonderful display!
What an adorable little birdie he is!! We have almonds on our tree out back, and get lots of cockatoos around this time of year, trying to peck down the fruit. They are quite destructive though, they will take whole branches off!! And they screech so loud!! I think I prefer your cute little finch!
And ps you have me drooling for some fruit now!!
That transformation of the cactus into the fruit was fascinating Naomi !
Hope that you are enjoying your Sunday evening :)
The last two pics are fantastic, Naomi!
What a wonderful set of beautiful pictures Naomi. I browsed all of them with awe. I love it!
These photos are fascinating, especially to a northern gal like me. The flowers really are beautiful, and the finch does look like he's smiling!
Naomi, that bird knows what good fruit is....Do you ever go out and harvest your crop and eat it yourself? Looks good to me.
My oh my! Fabulous photos. You really do take good photos. That finch is so cute and that meaty flower looks like a hand to me. That finch looks so contented with what he has plus of course having a professional photographer take his picture.
That looks tasty! I wonder if I can get those on the east coast?
What lush vegetation - by the way your entire format is very lush and lovely. The birds do have a great time. That fruit he is feasting on looks almost like a lobster claw :) You can tell I'm no vegetarian.
Fantastic pictures, even though I seem to say that every time I am here, lol!
Our cactus didn't have a fruit this year, it might be due to the lack of rain...
The little finch is very cute :)
Naomi, you are so talented. Great pictures. you continue to amaze me!!
That fruit the finch is eating looks seriously like a hand! Lol!! Your photos are amazing and so clear. It must've been a lovely day in the Hollywood Hills hey?
I continue to enjoy your photos -- the cacti, their blooms and the finches -- spectacular. I especially like that last photo. The fruit looks as though it is a jaw wide open, merely waiting for a victim. Is it carnivorous -- like venus fly trap??? Of course not, just kidding.
I must get MTL to come upstairs and see these super shots. They are incredible and that little bird must think he is in Heaven. How great that you have actually tasted it. There must always be something fascinating to watch in your garden.
Fruit, flowers and birds - it does sound a bit heavenly.
LOVE it, Naomi! I'm here from Michele's this morning. What a neat way to start off my day -- I dig nature and birds and cacti and all this stuff.
It looks like the Finches had a fiest for Thanksgiving too! They are too cute Naomi! And as always, you capture them perfectly!
These are indeed beautiful little birds and this one is King of the cactus! Love the one with his head buried.
What a strange exotic world. The open fruit reminds me of a lobster claw! The finch seems to be waiting for the other fruit to open up or standing guard over them.
Naomi, I posted my Dream For President Bush poem today.
That little finch looks SO happy eating the fruit! I love your pictures :-)
Wow, I've enjoyed reading your blog and I'll be back. :-) Your list of "100 things about me" was a pleasure to read. The photos here are also amazing, and your writing is addictive!
I feel bad that it's only now that I've seen the message you left a while back on the blog of the writing circle I started this year: theshamelesslionswritingcircle.blogspot.com
I've only now just picked up on your message left on the list of lions that were put up for adoption when the circle began back in May/June.
I've left a reply there, and hope you can join our "friends" list, which may eventually lead to adoption - all the lions currently have homes, but some do become available every now and then when blogs close etc.
I hope to read more of your blog soon. My personal blog - separate to the circle site - is: shamelesswords.blogspot.com
Take care, Seamus. :-)
I just LOVE the photo where that little bird's head is buried in that yummmy goodness.
He is in HOG heaven!!
The pictures are so wonderful- I wish I had a camera like that & of course, plenty of time to use it!
Michele sent me to visit you today,
That finch is certainly a day brightener.
As always, breathtaking photos!!! You;ve built yourself a lovely little paradise and I so appreciate your sharing it with us.
What a feast for a finch, he looks like he is very pleased with himself for stumbling onto such a treasure.
i, too, am a bit of a bird watcher. i can do it for hours. you've taken some great pictures that capture a wonderful oasis on earth. thanks for being such a great guardian.
How wonderful! More visitors to your garden, which has put on a wonderful spread for them as usual. You really are such a good hostess! LOL!
I love the first picture of the thrush with the fruit and the cactus flower. Wonderful!
Thanks also for telling me about the poem. It was rather chilling reading it though, knowing now what has come to pass. It's as if the writer had a cystal ball.
hmm - I wonder what that fruit tastes like - and if we can grow them here in the UK.
I was talking to cyberkitten about your photos and we thought a 'Birds and Bees' book or calendar would be excellent......
:-)

The more in detail we look at the the nature, the more fascinating it is.
Fantastic photos and text as allways
Looks like a tasty snack :)
I adore anything that blooms in the night. I haven't seen Colleen's poem yet so I am on my way. Magnificient pictures as always!
Oh my goodness Naomi!! The photos are so incredible!! It's amazing how the blooms and the fruit appear on the cacti!! I'm so glad you show these, otherwise I would never have known! I love the night blooming cereus. It's such a shame the bloom only lasts that one time, but that again is nature in all it's creativity!! I had one of those plants here but the cold got it one night. It usually bloomed around 11 p.m. and it's like you can actually see it opening!! So unique!!
Those flowers are just spectacularly beautiful. And I ♥ the bird just diggin' in. :)
