We should all thank God for the brave men and women who fought and died for this country.
one of the greatest sacrifices is to die for one's country and this should never be forgotten. may these men and women of outstanding courage live on forever in our hearts!

Good Sunday morning Naomi,
Truman said it well..
Brave, giving, selfless, and without them we would not have our freedom...
In grattidue and memory of all those who serve -
Loving Annie
I have a poem on my blog today.
We also have a special Remembrance Service at work every year, being the Ministry of Defence. It's very moving; we have a bugler and a lone piper playing the Piper's Lament.
We must never, ever forget.

Great reminder Naomi. :)
You always add something extra unique to your awareness of things like this... the Harry Truman quote is perfect.
(And I love the paper poppies)

(brrr... it's cold out today!)

May they rest in peace.
I have stood under the Menin Gate Memorial in Ypres twice now for the Last Post (played every evening at 8pm, every day of the year) and each time it's been very moving. It can't help but bring a tear to your eyes.
Very fitting post...all of us in North America should be thankful for the liberty and freedoms we can live by, but for the efforts and lives given towards those freedoms.
Hi OOLOTH! Your note is showing up now (and PS I love the template in here! It's gorgeous!)
I have haloscan comments and they're always going wonky, so maybe blogger is doing some site maintenance or something.
I see you have comment moderation enabled...are you not getting the email notifications when you get a new comment? :(
God bless the Veterans! Saw you were having trouble with your comments so am just here to see if it registers. I can see plenty of comments from here. I hope it sorts itself out.
Howdy O.O.L.O.T.H.! (Sory I have to abbreviate.) Thank you for this fabulous post on Veteran's day. So many people out there are making sure they pay tribute and it makes me smile.

Beautiful tribute Naomi.
God Bless our Veterans!!! I'm still under the weather so I'm catching up on your last posts as well. Congratulations on your 400th post!!!
Your blog is special Naomi, as you are!!
Let us never forget, but thanks for the sweet reminder. The flowers are breathtaking!
Yes, my dad who flew a bomber in England wore his blazer, his wings and medals to church today and several people came up to him to thank him. He wrote a poem with a different spin, it wass a reminder to also thank those who fought and are still here. (Posted today)
It's Remembrance Day today here in Canada ... so Happy Remembrance Day!
Great post and beautiful homage, Naomi!
We miss them all. I especially missed my dad yesterday, but I got to meet some sweet old souls that reminded me of him at a Veterans Day luncheon. More on that later, I hope.
I sat and watched the parade at the cenotaph in London on Sunday (it was on TV late that night) and bawled! It always humbles me that these people gave so much and then it makes me cry! They've opened a new UK Forces Memorial in Staffordshire recently, watching that ceremony made me cry too - so touching, so beautiful. I'll be dripping onto the keyboard in a minute.
Truman got it exactly right. I am continually saddened though to see less and less people wearing poppies in the UK and observing the two minutes silence.
We really must remember the sacrifice these people made so that we can live the life we do.
Well written as ever Naomi!
I love that Truman quote.
So very true.
