This is one of the thousands of reasons why "live" theatre is the most exciting experience one can have.....Here is Patti Lupone, at a special tribute to Stephen Sondheim held at Carnegie Hall...(I think)...,singing "BEING ALIVE" from that great and innovative show, 'Company'....This is something to enjoy and be totally thrilled by while I am busy with The Shredder People, among other things. And here below is a photograph I took of Ms. Lupone on May 23rd, 2001, backstage at The Belasco Theatre, (The theatre we moved to waaaay back when we were doing "Spoon River"....this was the first time I had been backstage since January, 1964....) where Betty G. was playing in Mr. Sondheim's landmark revival of "FOLLIES". Betty's Dressing Room mate was Marge Champion and Patti Lupone had come backstage to visit them after the Matinee.... Three incredibly talented women......Brava!
More To Come.......
How wonderful. That song could only be Sondheim! His songs are so intricate and moving. I once had the pleasure of working on a production of his here in the UK called Passion.
That very talented lady has a wonderful voice indeed. Beautiful.
Good luck with the shredding!
Wow! How cool! What a voice too -- even on my computer speakers! LOL!
Hey Naomi -- Mar needs you over on her blog today - she had a plant she's trying to identify - I'm sure it's a succulent of some sort! I couldn't think of anyone better that might know this plant! (and if you don't know it - at least you'll appreciate it!) LOL! Go here!
She has a fantastic voice and what a great photo. I hope the shredding isn't too noisy. we are freezing here.
Patti LuPone has the some of the best pipes in the history of the theatre! We were lucky enough to go to her one-night only appearance at UCLA last month and she blew the roof off the place. And had so much fun doing it. I've heard a few people say that she's a terror to work with and I hope that's not true. Either way, I will take advantage of any opportunity to hear her sing. We ran into her once at a movie at ArcLight and started talking to her afterwards--just about the movie, no mention of "Evita" or any showbiz talk, and she couldn't have been nicer.
This was really a great story and I do agree with you; Live is best because its lively.
Thanks for sharing Patti LuPone's song: it was wonderful Naomi!
RennyBA's Terella
Marge Champion looks great! Has she had work done? Should I even ask that? LOL
Sweetie, your wish is my command...
I have photos of 'The Swan' on my blog now.....

I have been dying to blog you, but I never did this before! I was an actress in the business for over 20 years, started young! Then went on to medical school in NY to get my MD in my 30's. I am now 52, living in NJ with family and kids and dying to be out in LA acting again!!! I found your blog through the Betty Garrett web page...loved her and Larry Parks as actors!! I am going to be out in Ca. in Feb. to visit old acting buddies and would love to have lunch with you. I will bring lunch to you if you are comfortable with that. I know I am jumping the gun abit here, but I have wanted to do this for a long, long, time. I read a while ago where you said that "...art is food for the soul..." It made my cry...I am an artist first and always have been. I have tried to live this NJ, big house, car pool live for a long time now. Anyway, my email is Doctortidefive@aol.com....and my name is Robin. I would love to communicate with you. Regards, and be well.
have been reading your blogs for a long time now. Live in NJ. Was actress for a long, long, time...then went to medical school. Now 52 and craving art again. Please email...I do not know if I am doing this right, never wrote to anybody like this before. My mail is: Doctortidefive@aol.com Thanks
Oh Dear,
it's so long time since I had the chance to comment your exceptional blog.
Once again, I think you have broken new limits.
I'm only an amateur compared to you.
btw. I picked up your "secret X-Mas" gift. But you can see on my blog that everything is safe and received---
hugs
Tor y Anna
ps. my blog post to day is only a short dedication to you
Thank you Naomi...Listening to Patti Lupone sing thrills me beyond simple words. She has always been a favorite of mine and her perfect pitch voice is among the greatest I've ever had the pleasure of listening to. Her talent as an actor is in that range as well.
Thanks for introducing us to yet another talented, wonderful performer. What a voice!
She has a sweet voice. Andrew Lloyd Webber certainly has a good ear for picking talent.
How's it going with the shredder people?
How wonderful!! and I know her now thanks to you! thanks :)
And thanks for the help with the mystery plant (lol!), meant to drop by but we are not having a reliable internet connection right now, which seems to be my provider's problem...I should have " a permanent internet connection" to my wish list !!
A very moving performance. I didn't know who she was.
I've been shuffling papers and cleaning off spaces too. I don't have a shredder, but I have a wood stove and it turns out I need it for all the confidential records I have from when I did foster care.
I just want to see my desk again!
Wonderful and strong voice! Patti Lupone is really gorgeous! Thanks for sharing this amazing video!
Oh WOW....now THAT is talent and a precious gift. What a voice!
Thanks so much for sharing it. I enjoyed it a lot!
Hope you're not buried in the dumpster....time for YOU to relax and take it easy, Naomi!

You know so many interesting people, Naomi!
Terrific talent! What a great voice she has!!
Happy Shredding!!
I hope by the time you read this that your shredding days are done.
I wonder how hard it would be to put all those shredded papers back together???
That would be SOME puzzle!!!
Powerful! And beautiful! Thanks.
what an absolutely beautiful voice!..
and I always love when you have pictures of dear Betty!..
Wow, she has an awesome voice! I always wished I could sing. Well....hey I can sing but no one wants to listen to me!! LOL!!
I love live theatre too! It's so neat to see it live! I haven't been to a play in quite awhile unfortunately.
Wonderful.
That is a lot of clearing out you are doing there! I am dead impressed with you. Want to come and do mine now? Although you may not like the absolutely freezing temps we have here!
Hi: just wondered if you happened to know Joe Leberman from your NY days? I wrote about him on my latest post. Have a nice holiday.
Oh!Michele sent me to tell you that I love Patti LuPone. Have you heard her sing Meadowlark? It is the phenomenal!
Leslie
Thanks for sharing, although my favorite "Being Alives" are Bernadette Peters's and Mandy Patinkin's. LuPone has some set of pipes, though.
I was in a completely miserable mood when I saw her in Gypsy this past summer. . . I'm excited that it's coming back in March so I get a second chance!
Happy holidays.
