shave & a haircut, shampoo

Dear Sweetie had a shave and a haircut and a shampoo.....He just looks adorable! And he is so very much happier without all that mattedness.....It was worse than ever this year. So instead of waiting till May, I decided to have him shaved now!

He spent the entire afternoon and early evening, "washing"....All that perfumed soap off his dear little body---why the Groomers do that, I don't know. He did exactly the same thing last year, too......And Sweetie did, too....

I cannot get over how thin he is.....considering all those many dishes of food I put down for him each and every day, he is really very slender. I wish I had his metabolism....lol!See how really skinny he is without ALL that fur? And I might add, when his fur is matted, he actually looks a bit heavy......I don't have a picture of that, but trust me....He Looks Almost F-A-T, with all his fur....Here below is a closer look at his head and his rough, before being shaved.....And, then.......All that fur, gone---G-O-N-E-.....no knots or mattedness possible----well, at least for a few months anyway......Oh, he is such a happy camper. And I am happy for him, too.....And the other bonus is this: No Fur Balls. And besides that bonus...there is this one: To pet him is just such a delicious experience---For me, and for him....! He feels so very very soft....even more so now than he usually does when he has all his fur....!

Hooray!

More To Come..........

I would have thought Sweetie feels softer with his long fur!! I guess it's Springtime already! Sweetie looks sweet no matter what :)

That sort of made me sad because it reminded me of Maxie, but I sure did love that soft feel after his haircut.

He's a beauty. Reminds me of my Miss S. I have a photo of her on my side bar on my blog.. She is always into something but not a long haired cat. She loves me when I first come home from and that is when she wants her attention. i am at the computer and that is that..

I thought what Mar did - that he'd be softer with the fur. I know how long-haired cats can get matted, though, as we have had a few over the years. I'm sure he's more comfortable without them!

the cats really do enjoy being shaved!! Had to have Winkey done here too and she loves it! It takes an adjustment for the "visual" when they first get shaved but then you can see how "free" they feel and it makes you smile, smile, smile..

He is a gorgeous cat, Sweeitie is. Glad he adjusted well to his new look :)

My parents have their cat shaved, and she enjoys it since then hairballs don't bother her/happen.

I had Flopsy shaved once, and she was just humiliated. She was so tiny without all her fur she was miserable, so I've never done it again.

My adult cat, Briege, has the met-rate of Kate Moss, but my kitten, Pema, looks like Sophia Loren. I'd say they both eat about the same, though Pema rushes to it like a peasant ;-0. Your cat is beautiful and she looks happy to be shaved, some I have seen do not.

What a sweet looking cat! Two of our 3 dogs are going to the groomer on Tuesday. Baths for both (thank goodness) and a serious haircut for the matted one. It will be soooo nice!

What amazing eyes! I love this cat. Is he/she deaf, by chance? I had a friend with a white cat like Sweetie who was deaf, and it seems I remember that a large portion of those cats have hearing problems...

My Short Person who loves cats enjoyed seeing your Sweetie too.

All that whiteness, my goodness, it must be hard to capture the true details of his gorgeousness with a camera. :)

Congratulations, Sweetie! I probably shouldn't show Miss Willow this picture... she'll think she will be heading out to get a new do like it. I spent an hour brushing out small mats the other day... and there were fewer than usual. Ragdolls aren't supposed to mat but her fur is a bit different than her brothers and has more expression of that underlying Persian component.

He certainly looks a lot more comfortable. I think it would be very hard to be an extremely fluffy cat... can you imagine trying to keep yourself clean and getting massive mouthfuls of fur with each lick?? Horrible!
So now he will be sleek and handsome for the next few months.
It will be time to get Tessa the golden doodle washed and shaved as soon as the warm weather gets here.

He is a gorgeous, handsome boy! He looks like my parent's cat "Chrissie"!

Madison's "Sneaky" had one kitten this week-end. I"m so anxious about it, I hope the wee one makes it. Not a lot you can do at first, can't touch them or move them. He seems strong and very vocal when she leaves him! Wish us luck!
(for the record this is my fault, for not getting sneaky spayed in a timely manner. She and the wee one will be spayed/neutered pronto). But... i'm still glad to have another cat in the family!

Sweetie looks wonderful. I know he must feel great being so clean and groomed. Calista is not as fat as she looks either. It is fluff weight I tell everyone. The others, well they are truly dragging the ground with belly almost.

We've found out that Martin's father has cancer. He feels fine for now but it has spread to his lymph nodes. We all know what that means, especially at his age. It was a bumpy week for us and they have to go find out their options, 2nd opinions that sort of thing. I won't blog about it but I know you've always been so good to keep up with how we are doing here. I will send you a private email when I learn more from tests this week.

I'll bet his undercoat is thick and silky. Does he fuss much when he gets his hair cut? Our cat does a combination of yowling and talking when he gets something done that isn't part of his regular routine. It's like he's questioning what's going on while also giving us hell. ;-)

Oh dear Sweetie!! I'll bet he feels so much cooler now! Miss White Lily has some matts in her hair and I try to cut out what I can, but some are real close to her body and makes it hard to cut, for fear of cutting her, and she can be grumpy after I cut one or two, so I have to just do one or two and stop! She is all hair. When I press the hair down and feel her body she is really not very big at all! Just all hair!! Sweetie has the prettiest eyes!!
