I love the drama of a bright sunny day that has a sudden downpour. It almost always elicits a gorgeous rainbow and I have been fascinated by these since I was a child. How wonderful to see one over such a fantastic skyline! I love the photos of those trees as ever. I especially like the one of them at sunset. The colours are quite subtle and lovely.
Michele sent me by this time but you know I would show up at some point.
Naomi, I am quite sure the skyline didn't look like that in 1847...!!! (sorry, I couldn't resist - I think you may have a little typo there!)...
Truly, though, your pictures are quite beautiful, particularly that first one with the rainbow, it's stunning. I have a thing about city skylines, and one of my life's dreams is to live in a house/apartment/whatever (!!) with a city skyline view like the one you have. Ah, to dream!!
It is nice to see that you appreciate what you have though - so many people take their surroundings for granted, and I like that you come back, again and again, to this beautiful skyline of yours!
Always love to see these posts by the way. :)
Let me be the first to say you live in a lovely city and you captured the beauty of it in these amazing photos. I love the rainbow in the first pic and the silhouette of the trees with the clouds overhead at sunset. Wow! Amazing how you can actually see the Pacific Ocean from your home. What a haven!
Hi Naomi! I love skylines! Lovely pics. Have a wonderful week...LOL.
What beautiful photographs! I've been to your corner of the world several times, but never had the pleasure of seeing the skyline from that view.
I love it when it rains and the sun is still shining, every thing looks so crisp and clean.
I'm off to take a nice sunshiny Indiana-first-day-of-autumn walk.
I love love love seeing your pictures. My favorite out of these would be the first one.
We get some incredible storms over here! And then we are happy we live on a hill (like you) because the water doesn't end in our living room! Yes, it can be that bad sometimes...
And to have a view of my beloved Pacific, what a treat!!! of course "mine" way down south is way too cold to be pleasant for a swim, only for the youngsters.
Thanks so much for your dear comment on my blogiversary. I appreciate your blog-friendship from the very bottom of my heart!
Very pretty photos of LA - I never thought of the city looking like that - don't know what I thought - but for sure not that beautiful skyline.
How fortunate you are to live high enough to see the beauty below you...and to be able to see the Pacific Ocean - oh wow!
Have a great Sunday...
I guess I didn't realize because from downtown LA you don't see the ocean. Just those tall buildings. What a view you have!
It is a very distinctive skyline, I like it.
Hi Naomi. I always love when you take us on scenic tours of the skyline from your house. You always find new and amazing things to share from your unique vista.
There's a subtlety of color in these images that keeps my eye coming back for more. You could teach this in your sleep.
I'm sorry I've been so quiet lately. Zach's broken leg has really thrown us for a loop. Not a lot of free time these days...we're just coping with everything until he's better. Life...you can well relate, I know.
Michele sends her best, as do I.
Quite a few wonderful captures! We fared well, didn't float away. Everything is so clean and clear today. Love it.
I love the rainbow. :)
That's the way I feel about living here, Naomi.

Oh dear you Naomi, we just returned from the mountains in Norway - and then experience to the view from your home - It's warming our hearts.
-- we will come visting you next year, for sure.

I wouldn't have known about the sporting event happening either, lol. :)
Ya know, your advice is a good one.. I'm going to look at yards that I love, and maybe leave notes asking for their landscaping company. Terrific Idea!
Michele says hello this time!

Well as always your photography is wonderful. I really enjoyed seeing the Goodyear Blimp, I could not imagine something like that passing by! All we have is the occasional hospital helipcopter going over, and that means something bad has happened so that is never good.
How do your gardens make it without any rain? Is there just that much moisture in the air or do you only have plants that don't need any water?
Amazing views amazing shots Naomi :D
I always feel good when I see a rainbow and I hope it'll bring lots of sunshine to you too :)
Love love the pics ! It is my birthday on Wednesday when Mark asked me what I wanted I said lunch with Aunty Em at her house out on the balconey, he looked at me like uh huhhhhh not going to happen LOL
I bet it was nice to have some rain after all that scorching heat lately.
You're so talented at catching light. I loved these pics. And maybe they will help with my "house hunting!"
Whilst you are sleeping peacefully - I hope- I am catching up. I agree with you about Aida Turturros - frightening as the sister from hell in the Sopranos. The only way I can watch it at present is at 11pm - my bed-time and now I can only get the sound. Eventually I'll get the DVD's
The photos are really beautiful. It must be such a relief to have some rain. Unusually we have had about two weeks without - until last night when the garage ceiling leaked. we have been waiting months for various work men for jobs in the house. This is the British disease which is such a pity. Have a happy week.
Isn't it amazing all the changes you've seen to your little corner of the world!
DeForest would say that he moved into San Fernando Valley.. when it really was a Valley!
I know it's called progress.. but I really wonder if it is sometimes.
I love those days when the sky turns 'all wierd'. Nature can be amazing with colours... And to think I am on the otherside of that Pacific Ocean. *sigh*
thanks for stopping by this weekend
WOW that is a pretty site...
I love rainbows and waterfalls :)
have a pleasant day
I think that first photo is amazing.
I never realised the sea was so close to LA until you showed us.
Nice you're getting some rain now, but we've gone from wet and cold to dry and cold. I think we've just had the wettest summer on record - does this mean the UK is going to have a heatwave next year? [looks hopeful]

I think rain is magical. And how else are we going to see rainbows without rain? Love your photos.

Your Love Coach
The first shot looks absolutely mythical. Further down I begin to get a twinge of anxiety looking at how crowded the city is and thinking of all those people and cars. It boggles my mind.
So you have beach front property in a way!
Well, I'm so glad you finally got some rain. I know how bad your area needed it. Great pictures Naomi of your lovely views!!
I'm sure the changes since the 40's is quite amazing!!
It's always fun to see the blimp.
I didn't realize LA looked like that either. Somehow I always think of it as flat even though I know better.
We had some rain on Saturday but missed the worst of it. It seemed to stop at the Fresno/Madera county line.
This morning is lovely and cool and the rain may have knocked out some of our terrible air quality.
What beautiful atmospheric photography (phew that was a lot of spelling -only glad I do not have to say it!)
I love your photos.
over here it is the opposite, When will it STOP raining!
lol
Have a good day
Beautiful pictures! I love the rainbow! I'm living out of the city limits now, and getting beautiful views of the sunrises and sunsets....I'll be posting some pics soon! I'm finally trying to catch up on my blogging now that things are settling down some. This moving is for the birds! LOL
Have a wonderful week my friend!
Naomi, you have such a wonderful view that I can imagine you never get anything done just watching that view or your garden! LOL
I love the golden color of the light in the first pic, and rainbows are fabulous, aren't they?
Hi Naomi! What a stunning skylines's pictures! As I am living in country I miss so much to see views of a big city like Los Angeles! You did a good job here! Thanks for sharing! Have a nice week ahead!
Great shots of your city. I've never been ... though I'd like to visit someday.
Lovely pictures again. Here it's been raining like cats and dogs for almost a week now. But the weatherman said that it will be a nice weather throughout this week.
The tree line photos are so dramatic!
Enjoyed your photos and glad to hear you finally got some rain. Hopefully, it's cooling it off there a bit.
I enjoyed the butterflies in your previous post.
I've had lots of pretty ones flittering about my flowers on my porch.
They are so pretty.
Hey!!
I recognize those favorite trees of yours!!
I've seen those babies with my own eyes!!!!
The photos of downtown L.A's skyline are grand as are those little trees on the hill. After the rain, the air smells so fresh and clean and the vision of a rainbow always gives me a feeling of peace.
