Needing something to lift my spirits cause I've been rather blue, I decided it might be a good thing to post some of the other birds that came-to-call while the Agave Flowers were blooming....
Ahhhhh, the dreaded Blue jay....I know he can be mean and all, but he sure is pretty....I love the 'blue' of the Blue jay....such a rich deep warm blue isn't it? A color that is hard to create with paint....as most of natures colors are.....
Isn't this amazing? I couldn't get over the way this dear bird was 'hanging' upside down as he was about to chomp on this luscious blossom....I haven't a clue what kind of bird he is...but one of his brothers is in that first picture at the top, too.....
I love this fella above with his mouth wide open, enjoying the yummy stuff this flower pod has to offer....another 'brother' of that same family....
A beautiful Oriole in flight, about to settle down for his afternoon snack...the Oriole's really loved these flowers....sometimes they would come at the same time as the hummingbirds.....-LC+07-30-07+188.jpg)
I loved that these birds were able to share the same flower without a fight of any kind....now, if it had been a Bluejay.....Well....Don't Ask!
And above, a beautiful finch....again, just about to settle down for a lovely repast....the sweetness of the nectar of these flowers was irresistible....
And here is the unknown bird once again....So very pretty....So intent on his afternoon snack.....I must tell you that this has definitely lifted my spirits and I hope it did the same for you....And if anyone knows who these dear birds are, please do tell me.....More To Come........

I've only seen one hummingbird in the past year and my camera was no where near by to get a photo, which is why I'm so pleased everytime you post a picture of one of these little guys. I also love the yellow on the Oriole. We have them more frequently around here than the hummingbirds.

gosh, Naomi, you sure have a great variety of birds!! The last "unknown bird" with the yellowish head looks similiar to a house finch. I know finches come in many colors so .. maybe?

I'm sorry you've been feeling blue. I'm glad that looking at the pics you've taken of all those beautiful birds lifted your spirits.
I sat on my back porch yesterday drinking sweet iced tea, and I saw a variety of birds (even some hummers!) and butterflies. It was really nice.
Jason called me on Tuesday night. He said he'd call Betty on Wed. I sure hope he did. He is not avoiding calling her; he just has been forgetting to do it. Often when he thought about it, it was too late to call.
I have a joke that I hope gives you a chuckle:
A minister decided to do something a little different one Sunday morning.
He said "Today, in church, I am going to say a single word and you are going to help me preach.
Whatever word I say, I want you to sing whatever hymn that comes to your mind."
The pastor shouted out "CROSS."
Immediately the congregation started singing in unison, "THE OLD RUGGED CROSS."
The pastor hollered out "GRACE."
The congregation began to sing "AMAZING GRACE"
The pastor said "POWER."
The congregation sang "THERE IS POWER IN THE BLOOD."

i have no idea who the unknown bird is... i kind of bet that hoss would know (old horsetail snake) or perhaps my mom (she knows everything). anyways, you were correct about one thing... the pictures brightened my day. such beauty is a joy. i personally love blue jays, my mom has sone that are just wonderful, demanding and freindly. some day, i might blog about the blue guys living in her yard, because it really is interesting. anyways, just wanted to say hello and see if you were feeling better.
