More To Come........
You have a wonderful variety of birds there in your garden, Naomi. I might get nothing else done all day if I had your garden to view.
Beautiful pictures Naomi, as always! I am glad you are feeling a little bit better - nature is an amazing thing that it can lift our spirits like that. :)
Take care!
Seeing birds is always joyful - I needed to be cheered up today too so thanks for sharing!
Wishing you a lovely rest of the week Naomi:-)
Hi Naomi! Cheers. Lovely and interesting pics of birds. A treat indeed...thank you for the noon meal!
You have such a varied bird poplulation in your garden, it must be very tempting just to sit by the window and watch them all day. I'd never get anything done!
I like the one of the upside down fellow best, Naomi. I'm afraid I don't know what type it is though. I have a bird identification book at home, but it's only for the NC/SC region and probably not much help.
Is the flower really big or are the birds really small?
Lovely photos. I hope they lifted your spirits!
I love Orioles, but I never seem to see them! They must all be hanging out in your lovely garden!

I've only seen one hummingbird in the past year and my camera was no where near by to get a photo, which is why I'm so pleased everytime you post a picture of one of these little guys. I also love the yellow on the Oriole. We have them more frequently around here than the hummingbirds.
What lovely pictures. Definitely capable of lifting the lowest of spirits - isn't Mother Nature amazing that way?
September is always a sombre month now, with the pall of 9/11 still hanging over the US.
I have been a bit low lately too, so I treated myself to the box set of season #1 of Rome - fabulous series, brilliant characterisations, fab scripts - thank you HBO and BBC.
btw - forgot to say.....if you really want a laugh, there's a photo of me in re-enactment kit on my blog :-)

Wow, these are well taken and timed photos. The birds are so lovely. Hope you're feeling better.

Just looking at these makes me feel warmer ! Ok I put my profile back up so you can get to my dead blog that way, and took the moderation off the comments which I didn't even realise was on ( I had comments sitting there all that time duh)
I hope you feel less blue today. Do a little shimmy ( runs fast so aunty em doesn't whack her with a book on the back of the head)
I can always count on lovely things here. Wonderful again.
I do love birds, but know only the most obvious ones.
((Naomi))
Fantastic pictures, and I especially like the contrast with the dark backgound and the light surrounding the "unknown bird" in the last photo.
Have a wonderful day enjoying your view from the hills!
Wonderful shots both here and with the flowers below.
I am sorry you've been blue Naomi. The garden is where I like to escape to....and you are so lucky to have the Orioles.
Cheer up dear friend. You make ours so much more brighter...I hope you know that.
neat photos Naomi. Down here on Sycamore we have a flock of 8 or 9 green parrots that live in a trio of palm trees. I always get a kick out of watching them when they go out and about.
Fabulous photos! You really have a gift and are so blessed to live amid such beauty!
quite the bird fest at your place. lucky you! thanks for sharing.
mck.
Nothing like a sunny day and nature to lift spirits up!! delightful pictures as always, ahhhhh, beautiful!
Thanks for lifting my spirits. Your photos just get better and better - you are a clever girl.
Do you think it is the change in seasons that makes you sad? I notice myself and many of my cyber friends seem to be affected. But maybe where you live it isn't the same. Do you remember that song 'Even though the darkest clouds are in the sky, you mustn't sigh and you mustn't cry...
gosh, Naomi, you sure have a great variety of birds!! The last "unknown bird" with the yellowish head looks similiar to a house finch. I know finches come in many colors so .. maybe?
The west-coast blue jay is far prettier than the east coast one, though I hear both can be nasty!
sorry for posting this here, but i don't have your email address. you mentioned videos of lena horne, so i thought i'd find one for you.

Naomi, I just love your bird pictures. I live less than 30 miles from you and I have no birds like that around here. How I would love to get pictures like that. I've been blue, too and your pictures always bring a smile to my face. More please!
p.s.-hope you're not so blue now. :)
Naomi, your garden has an amazing variety of birds! What a wonderful photos of them! You did a good job here and it's a pleasure seeing your pictures!
Have a nice day!
I'm sorry you've been feeling blue. I'm glad that looking at the pics you've taken of all those beautiful birds lifted your spirits.
I sat on my back porch yesterday drinking sweet iced tea, and I saw a variety of birds (even some hummers!) and butterflies. It was really nice.
Jason called me on Tuesday night. He said he'd call Betty on Wed. I sure hope he did. He is not avoiding calling her; he just has been forgetting to do it. Often when he thought about it, it was too late to call.
I have a joke that I hope gives you a chuckle:
A minister decided to do something a little different one Sunday morning.
He said "Today, in church, I am going to say a single word and you are going to help me preach.
Whatever word I say, I want you to sing whatever hymn that comes to your mind."
The pastor shouted out "CROSS."
Immediately the congregation started singing in unison, "THE OLD RUGGED CROSS."
The pastor hollered out "GRACE."
The congregation began to sing "AMAZING GRACE"
The pastor said "POWER."
The congregation sang "THERE IS POWER IN THE BLOOD."
The Pastor said "SEX."
The congregation fell into total silence.
Everyone was in shock.
They all nervously began to look around at each other, afraid to say anything.
Then all of a sudden, from the back of the church, a little old 87 year old grandmother stood up and
began to sing "PRECIOUS MEMORIES."
HUGS to YOU, Naomi!!
:-)
Happy Holidays, Naomi!
i have no idea who the unknown bird is... i kind of bet that hoss would know (old horsetail snake) or perhaps my mom (she knows everything). anyways, you were correct about one thing... the pictures brightened my day. such beauty is a joy. i personally love blue jays, my mom has sone that are just wonderful, demanding and freindly. some day, i might blog about the blue guys living in her yard, because it really is interesting. anyways, just wanted to say hello and see if you were feeling better.
What gorgeous birds! And like you, I also love blue jays. They can be nasty...but hey, can't we all?
I hope you're feeling a little perkier today, Naomi. Enjoy those birds and your spectacular garden.
You should do a photoblog for birds Naomi since you really have the eye for photography. I can even do the photoblog design if you want.
*sigh* ... I can't believe I live in Maryland and have to come to my California friend's blog to spot an Oriole! Life is just not fair! I even put out an Oriole FEEDER this year... still haven't seen one... You are sO blessed! These are beautiful and spirited little creatures!
Sending you bright, warm, sunny, golden, loving thoughts my sister. Hugs and more hugs.
just from that pic, mom wondered if its a gold finch?
So glad I didn't miss this! Ooh la la. Love the blue bird on yellow!
