lunch with the bee's

This is a beautiful one-stalk plant out in the front of my house called a Dracaena Draco.....it's about 22 years old, maybe a bit more....and it is flowering for the very first time....and after it flowers, it will get a second head....all of this takes a lot of time...but for now, here is the beginning of the flowering as it looked, back then......Here above, is a closer look at the flowers as they began to emerge---not really developed yet.....Each time this plant flowers another head is on the way...(And a plant like this could eventually have ten heads or more, by the way....)...And below...a little closer look at the emeging flowers.... And below....a closer look at these very succulent flowers as they are continuing their journey...... And then we get closer as each little bud begins to emerge and becomes food for the Bee's.....Yes, indeed...the Bee's come in abundance to these lucious flowers... Do click on these photo's to see them bigger because you will see, as in this picture above...at least four bee's enjoying the lovely necter that these flowers hold..... And here below are some more Bee's having a bit of lunch....
And another dear little bee's just chomping away or whatever it is they do..... And another...... And some more, too......
And another one.......
And..... And, And, And.......And here below are two dear bee's...you can just see the back end of the second one down on the left....Sweet... And here are two more...I don't know if they are friends but the sweetness of these flowers is what has brought them here and that is what is important to them at this moment.... And here is what these flowers have turned into, as of today.... I am always in awe of the way nature provides....These little round pods that are filled with seeds now, will serve some other creatures in this fantastic thing called plant evolution....And one of these years, sooner than soon, a new head will appear on this wonderful plant..... I'll keep you posted.....

More To Come......

NOTE: I am posting a bit early because I am a bit tied up with The Emmy voting here at home....Looking at a lot of DVD's....some of the shows I have committed to watch are quite long....So, if I do not get around to visiting you in the next few days, please do forgive me....I will do my best....And thanks for understading.

Naomi, I am glad to see that you have bees being active out there, since we are having fewer and fewer of them here in the east.

Enjoy your DVD's and when you have time, come and see the meme I did, that I got from you.

I think bees must be friends. When they're in their hive, they're much closer than what they are on that plant. It's all for the Queen, you know. :P

Who would ever think so much beauty & activity in a cactus? Before meeting you, I had no idea. I like the little bulbs they become after they flower.

I know I always say this but I do mena it - those photos are wonderful! I love how much you celebrate all life in your garden adn how you find beauty in even the little insects that visit it.

I have always had a soft spot for bees too.

Busy buzzing bees. I'm so happy to see them since they are so important to the continuation of life and there is so much talk of bees hives dying right now. I love the sharp plant juxtaposed with the soft flowery blooms too.

How lovely... actually lovely is the wrong word... astonishing, beautiful, unusual, and oh so different from anything that will grow in my garden here in Canada.
Thanks for the pictures of the bees.

Thanks Naomi for the visiting to Imagens and nice comments as always! Fernando went in last Abril to join an International Conventions & Exhibitions about fruits named MACFRUT in Cesena, Italy. Then he went to know Rome, Milano Marittima, Piza, Lucca and Venice. He stayed in Italy only twelve days. He loved this trip so much!

Enjoy your week with many DVD's!
Many hugs!

Jason and I stood right by that plant when we took photos of each other with you.
I FINALLY put up my post about our visit with you.
It was so hard to get that video to load onto you tube. My daughter was in CA until late last night, and then she helped me get it done this afternoon.
I know you are a Busy Bee yourself right now with the Emmy voting.
I enjoyed the pics of the busy bees in this post.
My mom called and said she enjoyed talking with you!!
You are a delight and a treasure!!

Loved the photos and the great title for this post!! Lunch with the bees!! Nature is so amazing and you capture it so well.

Jamie Dawn did a great write up of her visit with you. It was so wonderful hearing you sing while Jason played. She showed me on her laptop when I met her, but it didn't come through as good as on her blog, so I was thrilled to see it!!

Wonder if you couldn't post the words to that song sometime on your blog????

Enjoy your Emmy watching and voting!! Hugs to you dear Naomi!! Give Sweetie a hug for me too!

Beeeutiful post as always. I just posted about the Emmys host for this year. I was just looking through the pictures of your garden that we took. If you are voting for guest actor in a drama please vote for Stanley Tucci, not that I am trying to sway your vote or anything.

Hi Naomi,
I love the Dracaena's, especially when they have a 'scar' as the sap is quite 'blood like'...

I bet those bee's had a lovely lunch with all of that pollen about!

Here from Michele's tonight...

That plant looks similar to a fornium I used to have - without the flowers, and it grew so large and looked so out of place in an English garden I gave it up. Yours is very attractive and looks so right and what a bonus the flowers are. Does it have a fragrancc I wonder and I'm intrigued by the tower in the bottom photo.

I hope you are enjoying your Emmy DVDs...I always think this is one of the coolest things I've heard of when you are doing this. I still remember last year.

I imagine that plant having a very sweet scent...this post reminded me of the title "The secret life of bees." I've never read the book but the title sure fits your pics today!
