More To Come.....
"We all have wings... but some of us don't know why".
Amazing photography as always......
I saw a humming bird on my daffodils in the spring, so I rushed out and bought a humming bird feeder.... and haven't seen a hummingbird since!
Lovely pictures, these birds are so tiny!
Another set of beautiful photos, Naomi, and I agree with you. The hummers are much more interesting than the "beautiful people" just below you.
I am amazed at how many times you find them resting. Around here, they don't stop long enough!
I have so very much been enjoying your fabulous photo's of these exquisite little birds. So much so that now I have run out of superlatives! LOL! Suffice to say, they are wonderful :)
I love the movement in some of those pictures. One phrase really stood out from your post though - 'survive and thrive' It is marvellous to think of those little birds doing just that above Hollywod and it is you that help make that possible by providing the right environment for them in your garden. It's the ultimate symbiotic relationship. The birds get fed and your planst thrive adn you in turn get to enjoy their beauty! :)
I am so enjoying your pictures. I am still trying to get some good ones of my visitors. Love Hugs and Blessings
Hi Naomi...I just read your last three posts and loved the sweet and wonderful little Hummingbirds. I've been off my computer for several days now dealing with the loss of a very dear friend, and my visit to your site was just what I needed to remind me of the precious beauty that exists here in our world.
I've probably said this before, but when I lived in SF Valley I worked in Sherman Oaks on the cornter of Ventura and Sepulveda. In back of the building I worked in was a small rest area with a pond... often when I went there we'd have hummers come by and take a bath in the fountain !! Gosh you make me miss them so much!
Awesome again! A friend sent me a picture of a lady with 4 hummingbirds eating from a dish in her hand. Impressive!
Good stuff, Naomi! I went to a motorcycle rally this morning. 40,000 bikes there!!! I'm gonna blog about it when I rest up a little.
I came here from Michele's this afternoon.
Gosh Naomi- they just get better and better. I think they think you are their mother and grow the flowers just for them. This afternoon there was a bird on the lawn with its wings spread, sunning itself but I knew if I went to get my camera it would be gone.
Now why aren't you in bed young lady?
Great action shot in #4!
Those yellows are so amazingly yellow! I love it!
We saw another play last night. It was fabulous!
I'm touching by these little birds! I imagine all the silence and delicate approch you ned to take these marvelous photos! I was on fame by Tor's profil and saw you! I don't think you remember me but I visited you for your birthday when Renny wrote something about you! have a beautiful sunday and beautiful moments with the hummingbirds! I famed you!
Hello Naomi! I just love these humming birds posts of yours. Your so right: the beauty of nature and the way you've capture them is just a work of art - thanks so much for sharing!
You're nominated for something at my place.....come see.
Great photos. I rarely see hummingbirds in my part of the country.
Michele sent me over to say hi.
Re Evil Dead, the "splatter zone" is very popular and you specifically ask for those seats. They give you a poncho for protection. I wrapped my knapsack in mine and it STILL got soaked. Ha!
Hi Naomi. I'm really slow catching up on Michele-sent-me comments today. Sorry about that: it's been a day!
The first image with the agave flower looks almost like a person - the Statue of Liberty comes to mind, for some odd reason - holding out her hand. I know, my brain's strange that way. But I get creative when I see amazing sights like these.
Happy sigh!
Yes, stars indeed! Thank you for the pics. Have a jolly good day!
Third one down... my favorite yet... so cute... the photo has such personality! Great photos, Naomi!
~S :)
Ooops... Michele sent me that time!
~S :)
What beautiful pictures! You always amaze me with lovely photos of your life.
Michele sent me today Naomi!
It seems like Michele has got things under control now. Fancy that silly person trying to spoil our fun!
At least i get to come back here and see your beautiful photos again!
How jealous I am over the hummingbirds! We don't have them over here in Sweden....
I've only seen them on our trip to South America in 2005, a wonderful experience!!!!
You can see the only hummingbird I managed to capture here:

If you're familiar with Flickr you can find my 3 photo sets with photos from South America: The Iguazu waterfalls, Paraguay (working ranch) and Brazil.
Or let me know you're interested and I'll send you the direct links :-)
(Came here from Blogging To Fame after Tor nominated you there - and I voted on you of course since you have an excellent blog :-)
Oh Naomi! I just don't know what you're going to DO when these flowers pass and your little birds move on... you'll have to get a few hummingbird feeders to keep them coming 'round! I can TELL that these little birds ARE the BEST entertainment in town! (and where YOU live, that's saying a lot!) LOL!
Beautiful, refreshing and oh, so wonderful pics as always! :)
Hi Naomi! Another set of awesome photos. They sure are friendly little guys...
Thank you for your kind words and support last night. Sometimes it takes a village to purge an idiot!
Michele sent me,
Mike
Beautiful photos! I don't think we have hummingbirds around here... At least, I've never seen any.
Take care and I hope you're having a good weekend.
Again...great photos! Hope you are doing well...just got home from a 3-day holiday...and am getting caught up...
Beautiful photos.
Michele sent me.
Me again. The message below was left over at my blog, but I'm sure it was meant for you!
"Beautiful photos. I once held a hummingbird in my hand, it had gotten trapped in a room and was banging against the window, and rescued it. It was so tiny and fragile in my hand, it was an amazing experience that these pictures bring back vividly."
It's from Expat Mom at http://www.expatmom.info/
I thought I'd better pass it on!
Thanks for the comment on my blog...u werent the first to say my new do was cute but didnt know what the old one looked like so I put a BEFORE picture up, duhhhh lol
I think I know now why I haven't seen one hummingbird yet in my yard this year......they're ALL in yours......lol (pout)
Amazing photos, but if you can, send a few over here to the west coast of Florida. I even have a feeder for them out there in my tree.
Great photos again, Naomi! You are an hummingbirds photographer expert! Amazing! Well done!
Have a good week my dear!
Good Sunday afternoon to you, Lady !
The juxtaposition of all that you find beautiful in nature's garden and animals, be they winged or footed -- and then the glittering lights and sights of the city below you -- give you quite a rich and vareid world to enjoy !
Thank you for sharing it so generously in your pictures and writing, Lady !
Much health and good fortune to you -- it is a pleasure to visit here.
*cyber hugs*
Genuinely,
Loving Annie
Naomi: whilst on Moogie's site she had a video and I wondered if she might be able to advise you on filming the humming birds and I have just had this from her:-
'I would be more than glad to help her. You can give her my email if you like. I know she comes and visits from time to time via Michele. Neat lady!'
Trouble is I don't know how to give you her e-mail address.
Her name is Laura Gerlach and she is Moogie on Michele's site. Hope this may be of interest to you
Love
Pat
The hummingbirds at my house are more interested in my fuschias than in my hummingbird feeder -- goes to show they like the real thing. I always supposed that the scent attracted them?
I read somewhere that hummingbirds mating sessions only last 3-5 seconds -- just as fast as they fly, I guess! Oy!
I am totally speechless! All I can say is: Magnificent!!!!
Michele bade me return, Naomi. Aren't you as happy as I am to see all the drama gone from her site?
More beautiful hummingbirds!! What a delight they are. Yesterday I was sitting on the sofa and one flew up to the window and just hovered there for several seconds. He moved back and forth. I guess maybe he was looking at his reflection?? I thought of you when I saw him/her there!!
Naomi, Good morn., and again, thank you. for sharing your special world with all of us. Pat from NY. Have a great week.:)
These are some amazing photos of something that almost defies our wish to capture it in a photo. I've tried to snap hummingbirds in the past but the way they dart and skip around makes it very difficult.
That you have captured these moments and then also included some lovely reference scenery is really wonderful.
Best
rashbre
You have some very good luck with the hummingbirds. We have to sit and wait patiently for about 15 minutes to get them back. They are Ruby-throated hummingbirds back east here in Ohio where we live. And we noticed these are very small this year too. I mean smaller than your little finger.
Nice blog you have here.

Hi Naomi :-)
What amazing photos of such beautiful birds. I'm not a big fan of birds (particularly in cages) but I do enjoy watching birds in their natural habitat. And hummingbirds are just so darn pretty!
I loved LA blurred in the background, Real Life some would say - but I know which Reality I would prefer...

Hi Naomi! I've come to check out your hummingbirdie friends. Very sweet! I gave you a quick reply to your comment on my blog, but just so you know, I'll be working on a Hummingbird entry from a Medicine Card perspective - and I'll dedicate it to you!
I don't know (yet) if you've blogged about your health problems, so it was news to me, and I'm really sorry to hear abou it.
Wish you well!
