More To Come.....
Hi Naomi,
These are lovely closeups! I have adored butterflies since I was a child and even have some things like jewelry or boxes with the butterfly art adorning them (not preserved butterflies- not into that).
I need a closeup lens for my camera. I watch, in fascination, those bees and butteflies (and even praying mantises and oh, so many birds) fly into our "woods" because I'm often inside due to horrid allergies. However, I long to catch closeups like these. Thanks for the treats!
I think she's a moth.
Those are wonderful set of photos. Naomi you are so good in photography! I usually take pictures of butterflies during summer.
Who could possible improve on nature? The colours and the design leave one speechless.
"I'd be a butterfly; living a rover,
Dying when fair things are fading away."
Thomas Haynes Bayly 1797-1839
These pictures are delightful! I don't know how you manage to take them the way you do, they are quite incredible. And no, you can never have enough butterfly pictures, so always feel free to post as many as you like!! :)
Ok Naomi.. you either have a HUGE close up lens or you are out in your garden everyday for all the nature pics! Which is it? lol..
aren't butterfly wing designs amazing?!
Beautiful capture. I love getting close ups like that. I also enjoy the anticipation of downloading them to see if I got the exact shot I was aiming for.
Again, they are beautiful.
Oh Naomi... great captures. I don't know that I've seen that kind of butterfly before. We get lots of the smaller variety cuz of our purple lantana. :) Once in a while, we see the large ones.

I don't think I could ever tire of your pictures. I love butterflies.
Such a beautiful butterfly. How do you get such good pictures? You must have on heck of a camera.
There is nothing more beautiful than a butterfly.
Whatever it's name, it is very beautiful!

Are you kidding? We never tire of your pics, Naomi!
First let me say those are beautiful pictures. But your pictures always are. If I am not mistaken it is a butterfly. One way to tell the difference I have been told and read some where is a moths antenna look like feathers. So going by that I would say she is a beautiful butterfly.
Beautiful, of course!!!
Living in the tropics I get to see lots of butterflies. The area of Northern Queensland is pretty famous for the Ullyses Butterfly which is electric (*electric*!!) blue in colour with a black body. I have yet to photograph one because they are always just fluttering past. Amazing. We even have butterflies that are HUGE. Monet and I sppotted one a while back that was honestly the size of my two hands put together. Its wings were seriously scary with black, red and grey markings.
I admire your photos for you ablility to actually capture them! Well done.
Simply gorgeous! Bravo for capturing such wonderful images of this beautiful little visitor to your garden. I just love the first picture as it is a wonderful composition adn also the ones taken from below with the sky as the backdrop and the sun shining through it's wings.
It's markings are incredible! You are so lucky to haev such a lovely garden that attracts these marvellous visitors dear Naomi!
Thank you for your lovely comments on my photos of the Vienna opera house. I love the second one best too and I am really happy with it.
I have always been a huge lover of butterflies, so I really enjoyed your photos.
I have butterflies everywhere here in my studio....the border print, lace butterflies in my windows, butterfly note paper. They've always appeared mystical to me and represent growth and rebirth.
SO thanks for sharing.
What gorgeous photos! You know, I don't even know what I have in my own backyard. I really need to follow your example and take a look! Thanks for the idea!!
awesome! have you purchased a macro lens then? or are you just getting really really good at your photography?
i love the bees and butterflys and bugs, i love to see spiders making webs, and bees with pollon clinging to their legs its natural wonder at its best. thanks.
Extrodinary well done closeups of a beauty of a butterfly.
-- Here we feel the summer arrives after the first view of a butterfly. They live only one day as a butterfly, I'm told. It's a pity, 'cause they are so beautiful.
It's always a pleasure to discover your photos, Naomi! This butterfly is pure joy. Really, you did a good job here!
gorgeous...dontcha just love butterflies??? chag sameach my friend
Like I've said before about your macro pics from your garden: Your taking the story about the birds and the breeze and now butterfly into newer dimensions LoL
and now you've figured out how to post with clickeble pic for full size - well done Nomi.
As to your comment on my blog about Gorden going to Norway, read my reply and I've also sent you a mail about it.
They say that butterflies are the souls of those departed. One came the day after Fenway died. I like to think every time one comes up to me in the backyard, it is indeed him visiting me letting me know he is ok.
Great pictures as usual dear Naomi!! Butterflies are so pretty. I've been thinking of getting a butterfly bush for our yard to attract more of them.
I did enjoy our conversation so much!! Thank you for calling!!
xxooxx
I love the full spread ones. I think the marking look more like a moth. Last year I saw a light green butterfly. I spent hours trying to identify it via the internet but never really did, except that my friend Jayn told me they did exist but were rare.
Is the butterfly coming back each day?
I'll say one thing: You sure do know what to do with the business end of a camera. My goodness! And butterflies, too!
I suppose you saw the butterflies on my blog.
But I really want to invite you over to take a look at the flower I just uploaded. I didn't take the picture, but our "daughter" did. I still have to ask her the story behind it. Come see.
Naomi I swear you just get better and better with your photography. The light through the little wings is just splendid....and you never have any dark yucky shadows!
If I win a bunch of money in Vegas can I send a car for you??? We could play blackjack together and you could tell me wonderful stories!
Wow! You've got lots of wildlife visiting you!
Great close-up shots!
Sorry that I wasn't be able to be very present...I know you understand...but I'll have a little bit more time now...your pics are so beautiful!!!
Maria
My mother loved butterflies and always wore a little butterfly pin on the shoulder of her dress. She said butterflies reminded her of all things beautiful.
