Definitely going to see this. Love Judi Dench and the story looks to be compelling.
this one is already on my list "to see".... my mother was adopted and I never knew my father so stories like this seem to "hit home" to me...
Oh, I'm so glad to see this recommdation from you. I've been thinking about going to see the film because I adore Judi Dench, and after hearing what you have to say, I surely will! I trust you more than those silly people writing for newspapers and online film blogs. ;)
I saw the trailer and it looked interesting to me. I plan to see it. Thanks for the recommendation!
I have read several rave reviews of this movie on Facebook and I was already planning to see it at some point. Thanks for adding your 2 cents, Naomi!!
Now I can't wait to see it, based on your recommendation. It's playing at the theater near my house. I might go see it after work tomorrow.
I didn't know Steve Coogan was in this. I love Judy Dench! Thanks for the recommendation.
Your reviews of those two films make me wish to go to the movies. I just saw that they are both playing near us this week – so I cancelled my hair appointment and we’ll go and see them. I admire Judy Dench – she is a superb actress and so genuine. Thank you for the review, as I may have missed those films.
Judi Dent is probably our finest actress and I love the way she reinvents herself with every film she does, a bit like Meryl Streep.
The film does sound excellent I'm not sure given the fact I'm adopted and was given way at birth I want to see it really. Some things are best left alone, for me, and I don't know that I'd want to open a can of worms like that!
I would watch Judi Dench read the phone book. She's amazing. And I've been eager to see this film. I'm glad you gave it the thumbs up! It makes me all the more eager to see it.
I'll keep my eyes open for it when it's out on DVD. I love Judi Dench and have never seen any film she made that she wasn't wonderful in it. A actress with real heart.
I'll be intrigued to see this one. Coogan playing a non comedic role should also be interesting.
This is definitely a film I want to see.
I think they will make a great duo. Who wouldn't find Judi sympatico. I think despite her age most co-stars tend to fall in love with her.
And I shall enjoy seeing her play a woman who is not high born and Irish to boot.
I normally don't like tear-jerkers but this doesn't appear to be that kind of film, but much, much more from your description.
I've known women who were forced to have abortions, been sent away to have their babies in private so they wouldn't shame the family name, but none who've given up their babies against their will.
I expect this will be an emotional and haunting film. I'd have to be mentally ready for it but I'd love to see it sometime.
Thank you for the review, my friend. Wishing you lots of love and warmth this holiday season! xo
I saw a preview and wrote it down immediate and put it on my Netflix line-up. I so feel for so many women back in the day who were forced to give away their babies and I felt drawn to know how the story turns out. I think Dench is an absolute treasure.
I have been wanting to see this! Dench is one of my favorite actresses, and the story looks very interesting.
Love your reviews, Naomi!
I will add this film to my "to see" list for sure.
The story sounds very moving and Judy Dench is really outstanding.
I like so much Stephen Frears too.
Hope you have a good day.
Can't wait to see it!
