oh please don't go away Naomi!! I know the year as been a bad one, but don't go away.. just don't go away.
Beautiful photos! Don't leave us. xx
Lovely to see the flower and amazing that all of the patterns will be unique.
Another unique thing is your blog, it's contents and the varied dialogues.
I hope you continue to find some spots to blog about. I guess you are under 'non-disclosure' about the Emmys you have been reviewing, but we'd all like a report when you are able.
So, take the time and break if you need to, but please be aware there are those of us out here that enjoy visiting!
Best regards, rashbre x
Do you still paint? Perhaps painting some of these beautiful flowers will bring you some solace. If not, maybe taking pictures of them, and maybe build collages of them. I wish there was something I could say or do to lift your spirits a little. I know it's hard. Sending you hugs and love through the keyboard.
That's the most beautiful blue / purple color. I love how you see so many wonderful things in the flowers.
It's been a sad year for me, too - my mother died in February and I have had so much business to settle up - I feel as if I talk about her death so much. I miss her so much.
Out of this world! You have introduced me to lots of plants I would not otherwise have known. You are like the flower whisperer!
Naomi, I hope your creative blogging juices flow again soon, but I understand the feelings you have shared and I think posting should be fun and not feel like a chore.
You would leave a great gaping hole so please - if it is only rarely, keep blogging. I expect you feel the loss of Randall - like I do but the tiniest ray of sunshine is better than no sunshine at all.
I love the colour of this post. Reminds me of one of my bridesmaid's dresses - in wartime - a bright spot in all that utility.
Naomi, I understand but I hope you don't stop blogging :-)
Naomi, I feel the same...what have I left to write of interest? And though I am not as old as you, I must now count my years in "MS Years"---canes, walker, to wheelchair, swiftly my health flits by. Where I live now I have lost many new friends, again in a short span of time; and still I struggle with my own health. I support your decisions 100%. I am forever thankful beyond words that I found your blog (enough stories to keep me reading a very long time) and to have had via this "Internet" a chance to share just a little in your extraordinary life, your adventures, your friends, your joy, your sorrow---how truly blessed I am. I thank you. You will always be in my thoughts.
The way you photograph your flowers always makes me appreciate nature even more - what you see is really amazing. I think of you a lot when I see something in nature, like when I visit the Botanical Gardens. I think of how much you'd love it. I'm not just saying that - it's true.
Take a break from blogging. I have done so before and it was good for me because I got inspired to write again. I now just blog for me - both my girls LOVE to see what we have done in times done past so that's why I stick with it. xx
the flower photos don't look real. You know, it doesn't require words when you post photos like these-- an oasis in this world of trouble. Perhaps when you are in no mood to write, you will find the camera says it all for you and us *hugs*
What a most beautiful flower! Never saw one that color before. Reminded me of butterfly wings.
I know how you feel about blogging. I seldom blog either and feel like I have nothing to blog about. But I guess if we just do it occasionally it's better than nothing! I think so many have gone to FB that it's just not the same anymore. Dear Naomi, you have posted so many wonderful posts and I have learned so much from you. As someone else said you would leave a big gaping hole if you quit! Sending you love and hugs!!
Such a beautiful colour! :)
Thoughts & hugs all the way from Wales - I do hope you'll be back with us soon, but sometimes a break can be good. Take care.
I understand that feeling that you have no more to say, but rest a while, and I guarantee something will come to you.
I'm sorry it has been a hard year for you, Naomi, and I hope it will get easier soon.
The "eyes" on that vanda are its sex organs....lol
I understand about slowing down in posting---I am doing the same thing. Much has happened in my life in the five years I have been blogging. The intensity is private and I find it hard to decide what---and if-- I have something to say.
Sending you peace, love, and light, dear Naomi.
you could post one photo, one line, one memory from your extraordinary life and be fascinating
and you could do it once a week
love you
love the orchid
it has so many dimensions
Naomi, I understand how tired it all becomes, please know when I am lowest I come here to your beautiful pages and you uplift me EVERY time. You are in my Prayers. have you ever tried the water color pencils? whey are not the same as oil paints but can make beautiful art and, no foul odors... Prayers to you Dear. Kepp enjoying your beautiful garden God does give us some wonderful beauty !
The orchid makes me think of a floating sea creature. It's so flowy-looking.
I'm sorry you've had such a rough time lately. I know how hard it can be to find something to post when the things that are on your mind are things you aren't comfortable posting.
Hugs to you.
Blue is my favorite color, too. Finding various shades of flowers in blue is always interesting. This orchid is absolutely spectacular -- so-o-o delicate in appearance and your photos most revealing with your commentary - reactions.
I always enjoy whatever you choose to share here and whenever. Maybe a few of what you consider to be some of your favorite older posts could occasionally be featured currently with a note or two (or not) when you don't really want to write a whole new post.
I suggest this, only because I've never really taken the time to go back and read all your posts from when you started -- time issues for me, not lack of interest -- and I started reading here only a few years ago. Just a thot! ;-)
My dear Naomi, just only today I read this post. I went for a week to Sofia's house and we both had a lovely time together.
Love so much the photos of this gorgeous, stunning Lavender Vanda Orchid! I never saw this orchid species before... You have much talent to took flowers's photos! I agree with you, seeing these beautiful flowers make us appreciate nature even more.
About to take a little break from blogging, I understand you, because it has been a hard year for you, Naomi, with many sorrow... I am so sorry for you...
I feel like you, many times I have nothing to blog about... and it's been almost 7 years of blogging to me too. I agree with Dianne and with Rachel, you could post one photo, one line, once a week. Occasionally posts it's better than nothing! Please, think about that... LOVE so much seeing your posts as your blog friends too!!
Sending you much love and big hugs!!
Naomi, the orchid is just beautiful. I love being able to see it up close in your pictures. I just love looking at all your pictures. The nature ones are so beautiful and the pictures of your life are so interesting. I understand you feeling like there's not a way to share what you're feeling on your blog. I hope you keep blogging. Every time I come by to visit your blog, I am uplifted by your words. You have a calming voice in my head!
Hi Naomi, it's so good to be back on your blog. I'd be so upset if you gave up blogging but I do understand why you need to take a break. I did as well, mainly because real life got in the way, but because I needed to recharge my batteries. It really was good for me. So maybe it will help you to.
I love the flower, but more than that, I love your passion about it's beauty. :)
I'm so sad you are sad. Take care, but don't go.
Such wonderful photographs of a gorgeous flower!!
Take your time, Naomi dear. Blogging is not meant to be an obligation. A break often helps a lot.
Missing you already but I hope you will be back. We will all be waiting for you. Hugs.
Naomi: I just wrote you a comment but it seems to have floated off into the sunset..... Mabye it reached you, I'll have to wait and see.
Naomi,
I understand about wanting to take a break from writing. I have enjoyed your blog so much over the years. The birthday lunches, nature, and your stories about show business are just a few of the subjects I have enjoyed here.
Take care. You are a special soul.
Fondly,
Laura
Vanda is indeed glorious. If you need cheering up- do what I plan to do. Re-read and review your own blog. Blessings
C'est magnifique!!!!!
What a gorgeous flower and also in my favourite colour! Take the the time you need to relax. I wished that I live nearby, so I can pop up and cheer you up with some lovely baked goodies :)
Some pictures and a joke to cheer you up! x
What a stunning orchid. It is so amazing and I have never seen it's like before. Thank you for sharing.
I can't help but echo many of the sentiments here as you would leave a massive hole in the blog world. I completely understand the need to break though and have had to a couple of times myself (health and work usually). I do hope that you come back though. It's strange, but every time I break I miss your blog and it invariably is one of the first I visit when I ma able to return. You are such a generous spirit with what you share and inspirational too so, take a break but I do hope you come back. Much hugs to you.
Bobkat x
What a beautiful flower and I do like the photos of what looks like a sad little guy. Interesting. I didn't see it at first but after studying it, I get it and it makes it more adorable to me.
As for taking a break from blogging, I feel in the beginning there is always so much to tell but then as we continue writing, some days you have thoughts to share and others you just don't. I like your photos, movie reviews, stories and photos of your past. There's never a dull moment here...and if you ever wanted to write about your feelings I'd welcome that, too...but I can understand if you choose not to. You are not anonymous here, my friend, and I understand that privacy is important to you. Please know I'm always here for you via phone and e-mail, so please keep in touch! Love and hugs! xoxo
i've not been by for ages, but know that i wish you well. drop by and see some baby pictures when you can, sugar! xoxoxo
dear naomi - would that i could say just the right thing to make your burden easier - but i cannot - however i hope that hearing and seeing how much you are cared for by so many will lift you up in love and light - in the meantime, do what you need to do - no one knows what that is better than you - and we will all await your magnificently brilliant return - until then - love and light - jenean
The flowers are so lovely... sometimes I wonder if clothes designers use flowers such as these as inspiration for patterns. :)
To respond to your personal note at the end, I'll just tell you that you are well loved here. I kind of liken it to working out, sometimes I just feel like I have nothing else to give, no energy left, and yet when I go and swim I feel refreshed and proud of myself for having gone. I know you've had a hard couple years, but we're here for you if you want or need to share. The Internet is amazing for giving back support when people need it.
Much love and hugs to you today. xo
Wow, what an amazing colour, my favourite as well.
You know Naomi, I am sure you have loads to write about but you definitely have had a hard couple of years and deserve a break. You are still grieving and that is perfectly normal. You have been incredibly strong. Take some time out. We will all be here waiting ready when you are.
I wish I lived closer and I would pop over with some gorgeous scrumptious fattening afternoon tea for us and have a good chin wag. Please stay in contact.
First, your orchids are lovely and I love how you see so much in them.
But most important -- You have had a really rough time of it. I'm sure I don't even realize the scope, but knowing about Sweetie, your brother, and sharing the same illness (and cat-loss), I really understand so many of the challenges. And seven years is a long while to come up with new things.
I, too, have had problems visiting people between schedule and depression and sometimes getting the post up is the best I can do.
But let me say that should you take that break, you return. Even if it's just for a few minutes to share a photo or a story from times past (or present). I'm sure you have many (like me) who haven't heard those stories from seven years back! Even a "best of" would be fun! One photo, a quote. Lots of options.
Perhaps we all want you to stay so much because we love and appreciate you and the sharing you bring to us. I do! Hang in there, my friend. And know you are not alone.
wonderful to see you out and about over at pat's place, dear lady - hope that means you're feeling better - hugs -
I second Joared: repost your former posts when you don't feel like writing a whole new one! Great idea!
Btw, I was at the Hirshhorn Museum yesterday and saw a copy of the book your sister wrote about your father. The picture on the back cover was taken BY you!! I was so excited! The H was in full glory yesterday. Their bookstore is fabulous!
Gorgeous flower, too! Never seen one like it. Imagine!
Thanks for all you do for your readers!!
m.e.
Hi dear Naomi,
Just stopping by to wishing you a pleasant day.
Many hugs!
Love.
What a lovely orchid! I have seen many orchids in Singapore and also Hawaii but never one with such a beautiful lavender color – what a beauty! I hope you keep blogging, if only once in a while – you could talk about something you watched on TV – your reviews are always so good.
Dear Naomi,
I can very well understand you.
But I really hope you will continue to nbe an inspiration for all bloggers. You are.
Sincerly
Tor

Hello :) I am new to this site... and to Orchids! I am trying to find the name of this gorgeous orchid I purchased... Your orchid is the closest I have come. The petal shape is the same (rounded). The pattern of lavender is the same except my flower is much lighter lavender.
Can you help me by chance?
I hope this message finds you well :)
Thank you for your thoughts,
Bre
