More To Come.........
Oh, these photos are so spectacular as yours usually are! So many unusual cacti and their blooms.
I'll look forward to your after-the-Emmy awards show report since I'll miss viewing the show this year. Am in the midst of my experiment without TV. Wish they'd stream it live on the Internet.
You're a real star with that camera!!
The birds with the plants make the perfect picture.
The top ones look good enough to eat, as if they are crystallised with the finest castor sugar.
I would be sorely tempted
your artistic eyes just see so much more then the average person see's.. it's good you point them out to us! :o)
Wow, I love your blog. Especailly the old pictures and stories. Searched for Picasso and Olga and landed here. Thank you for an interesting blog. Love your artwork too. Will definitely drop by at "Here In The Hills" again. You are now bookmarked.

You really do "see" so much more than the average person does Naomi. That artist's eye of yours is wonderful.
Had to laugh at the penis flower. I will never forget it now.
Wonderful pictures of the humming birds against the backdrop of the city, Naomi. What marvellous little creatures they are. I had a humming bird feeder hanging up in the spring and had quite a few feathered visitors looking for a sweet snack, but when my new deck was being built I had to take it down. So maybe it's time to get it back up again.
I am glad that you have been busy with "Emmy" voting! It sounds a nice task indeed.
LOVE so much your photos of succulents, cactaceas and flowers.
Just gorgeous these pictures of the little and lovely hummingbirds
against the background of Los Angeles!
I agree with you, these nature beauties are essential for our well being... I think that the dogs and cats are also a great gift to our hearts as well!!
Once again beautiful photos. The hummingbird was a great catch. About the only times I see ours is when they whiz in to get the sugar water which don't exactly make for beautiful photos but I am always glad to see them.
The first shot looks good enough to eat and as if it is dipped in sugar! I can't get over the one with penis-like flowers. It's like something beyond Dr. Seuss. The hummingbird shot is exquisite, such a contrast with the cityscape in the background.
Are these shots reflective of what's in bloom there now?
Oh, I forgot to say the finch looks like its about to be eaten by a something venus flytrap-like!
Looking at the succulent plants always makes me thirsty. They look so juicy!
I love the city behind the hummingbird! Really shows that there's natural beauty all around.
Just beautiful pictures Naomi. I dont expect anything less of you. It is a gift you have to capture the beauty in everything. Oh and you have been voting for the Emmys - wow. I hope you have been having fun and are happy. xx
Thanks so much for your kind words... I know you know.
Much love... C and G
Your hummingbird picture with LA in the background is one of my favorites. I think I copied it in my post about you a while back. Each succulent in your garden is like a piece of art and you look at them and explain them to us as if they were paintings – they are living paintings, really. There is so much beauty in nature – I enlarged your photos – they are breathtaking.
Love the succulents. I remember the penis flowers and the hummingbird shots. I'm stiil amazed you got such a clear shot of the hummingbird.
Nature--always puts my life's struggles in perspective. No matter what, THERE is beauty.
Am I going crazy or are the Emmy Awards changing months almost yearly lately??? I know your picks will be spot on!
Love the photos. Have fingers crossed that The Newsroom gets some Emmies. I don't normally pay much attention - and their is a definite political skew which leaves me cringing at times. So what. It is by far the best contemporary writing on TV.
They are indeed beautiful! (And yep, that name would make anyone remember the flower~)..... you must be feeling well enough to get down to the cactus garden and that's great!
if/when you have time could you tell us new readers more about your voting for the Emmys or give us a link to an older post? Your backstory and history that I have read since I've been following you is fascinating.
I love seeing your garden. It's quite different to what we've got here :)
I still love your cacti, and am so glad I was able to see them in person. :)
I'm afraid to even imagine the Google report that draws people to your blog. Penis flowers, indeed. haha
Oh, Naomi -- these are absolutely gorgeous! My pitiful garden is a woeful mess in this heat. Yours just makes me smile with its warmth! Sending joy your way!
The only time I see hummingbirds is in our garden in AZ. They are so wonderful, but so fast! I never manage to get the wonderful photos you do! I'm only using a point and shot camera there so I suppose that doesn't help either.
Lovely shots!
Beautiful photos Naomi! I've never seen a hummingbird in person and I'm always been fascinated by them ever since I was young when I read about them in a book about animals.
