A little Visitor.....He looks so very sweet, doesn't he? And he stopped just long enough for me to get two pictures of him....Here is the second one, below......
I know it looks like the same picture, but, it isn't....! There were some sweet birds that were visiting me, too.....This one below was new to me. I couldn't identify him....Anyone know who he is?
He, too, stopped long enough for me to get three pictures of him.....
He is a cute little guy, isn't he? I don't believe he is a Finch. He is a bit bigger than the Finches I see around here....Also, the top of his head is almost black.....
And his little feet are not so little. I mean they look bigger than a Finches to me.....He is sitting here on an Opuntia having flown in from one of my neighbors trees.....! I was so hoping he would stay a bit longer or move to The Waterfall, and take a bath the way this little guy below did.
But no such luck. And this little guy wasn't a Finch, either. But....look at this great moment, below......
This bird is a Finch, at least I think he is a Finch.....And he had quite a bath. I so loved catching him in the middle of doing what ever it is they do with their feathers after a bath....In this case, it appeared to me that he was re-arranging them after his very lovely bath and before taking off for greener pastures, which he did almost the second after I snapped this picture......
And then, of course, above, this little sweetie-pie-Hummingbird-beauty, in a 'still' moment as he sits on the top of The Waterfall, having had a little bath and a little drink, too.....Oh, how I love these birds.....
Here above is another dear little bird who had a bit if a bath and was considering where he would go next....There is much to see and do in my garden, and the birds seem to have a very good time....
I love the colors of this little bird-person.....I cannot remember his name....Perhaps one of you may know and would remind me, please....I would dearly appreciate it.....The colors are so very pleasing to me.
And of course, there are always Doves in my garden....All year long they come, and every day of the year, too.....This one above looks a bit raggedy, but still, quite beautiful, I think.
And last, but not least, a sweet Finch. The Finches too are an all year round garden-visitor, I'm happy to say....And depending on the time of year the colors can be quite vibrant......Right now there isn't much color other than the brownish-grey you see here.....I hope you all have a very lovely weekend........

hawk to me, so I looked for
it on the internet and
came up with a
Sharp-shinned Hawk.
It could be a young one
and maybe a female from the
picture I saw. They are
10 to 14 inches as adults
and have red eyes, and the
immature ones have a striped
breast. I enjoy the photos
you take of your flowers and
birds.

I love watching the birds in my garden, and obviously you do too. I keep a bird bath filled with water and it's surprising how many stop to have a drink and a quick splash on a hot day. Do you put bird seed out for them?

Ooh! LOVE the bird pictures! The only birds I have left now are my hummers. My hawks and orioles have gone on now and I sure do miss 'em. There's a website that you can go to, http://www.namethatbird.com/ that will identify your bird for you. You can email a picture to them and they'll send you back all the info they have. Can't wait to see more!

That first one looks hawk like, and I noticed your first commenter said so and found out what it was for you.
I love that you caught a Hummer in a still moment at the fountain. That is rare! We get hummers here as they come to feast on my porch flowers. I love those birds!!!
Squirrels are always fun to watch too, also, plus.
We have one in our front trees that seems to be a little wacky. I've seen him go NUTS like he's on uppers or something. Maybe he drinks too much coffee.

Thanks for the photos. You're fortunate to be able to draw so many birds, and hence the squirrels because they eat the same stuff. I assume you have feeders out. Are they squirrel proof?

Oh, the chipmunk is so cute!! They are just the cutest little things. Around here the cats wipe them out. Darn it! I try to tell them better but cats don't listen! They are adorable though!!
Your garden is such a wonderful place for the critters to visit. Of course they love it and tell all their friends about it! I love the water feature. That is so nice. Obviously they love it too!

Is the top little darling a squirrel?
Everything is so different there. I know nothing about birds but a clue to the next one is the curved beak and the large feet - a predator - so he can kill the quarry and carry it off.

I'm just like you...I love all the birds that come to visit my garden. I sit on the screened porch every morning with my coffee and enjoy them. I bought some corn cobs for the squirrels (to keep them away from the bird seed) but so far, not one has gone near it.
I'm so glad you also have nature right in your back yard and you enjoy it so much.

Those are some wonderful pictures of the critters! One of my favorite things about squirrels is how when they run, they look like someone is turning the light off and on really fast in the room. (hopefully that made sense). :)

I love watching birds taking a bath or drinking from a water fall. They are so carefree and such sweet creatures.

Such a wonderful abundance of visitors you have to your garden! These little characters must keep ypu so entertained and are a tribute to your lovely garden which seems more like a wildlife reserve, Lol!
Wonderful pics as ever where you seem to capture these little characters personalities and not just their form. The first bird is definitley a bird of prey - you cna tell by the hooked beak and the big talons! Although I do not know for sure, I suspect it is either a type of falcon or a small hawk.

Also on the pics in the blog of the small, delicate flowers, one of them as they would appear from a distance and in perspective would be neat to see.

Dear Naomi The first bird is a Cooper's hawk. They prey on other birds. When I lived in Escondido, CA a Cooper's hawk visited my backyard often. I had feeders and birdbaths and lots of fruit trees. The birds loved it and so did the Cooper's hawk who would make the other birds scatter like the wind.
