Here are a few close-ups of one Succulents that lives out on my deck.....The variety of colors and shapes just takes my breath away......
Another slightly different view of the same section of this beautiful plant.....The way one color changes to another almost imperceptibly....this is the miracle of nature.....

And, on another very high note.......
This week is a monumental week in the History of our beautiful wonderful country. I am so deeply moved by so very many things that I have witnessed throughout my lifetime, not the least of which has been watching the Democratic Convention.....Today is the 45th Anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King's great great "I Have A Dream" speech....
I watched that as it happened, and was deeply moved then, too. Moved by the possibilities of would 'could be'. Moved by the dedication of all the people who stood on the Mall.....Moved by the bravery and courage it took to be there.....And deeply moved by the speech that Dr. King created and gave that hot August afternoon.....What a day it was.
And here we are 45 years later, seeing history made before our eyes, once again. Tonight, we will watch Barack Obama make his acceptance speech for the Presidential Nomination of The Democratic Party.....What a Historic Day and Night this is. I think Dr. King would be thrilled about this if he could have been here. We have come a long way since those 200,000 people stood and held hands on The Mall in Washington and sang, "We Shall Overcome". Is the fight over? No, not yet. But, indeed, progress has been made..... 
Blessings on Barack Obama and his dear wife Michelle and his two little girls. This is the day we are given---and what a day it is---Let Us Rejoice And Be Glad In It! UPDATE: This was a Great Great Speech. Memorable in every way. I'm really excited, Now, more than ever! Hooray Hooray! (9:47pm)

There will be a ways to go before I lose my pathological cynicism about politics. Yet, I hope Mr. Obama is worthy of the adulation he receives. Nonetheless, it is truly an historical time and I wonder whether observers will draw the correct conclusions from all that has transpired.

I agree Naomi. I had to cry at how this country has changed. What would Martin Luther King have thought of this??? OBama did and said exactly what he needed to say. He was wonderful and I believe in him and his policies. People seemed miffed when I speak of him on my Blog but I don't care. I know he can help this country and take us into the future.

Naomi, good afternoon, I too watched this convention. It is truly a historical time in our nations history. One thing every one needs to remember, Mr Obama is still a human, my prayer is that he is elected and can do even a fraction, of what he is implying that he can get done. I hope and pray he can bring this country back together, as well as help, with our young people, that are living, in despair, wilh all of the social ills that are attacking our country. Because they are also our future, and the current cycle needs to be repaired. Have a nice weekend. Pat from NY :)

I am bemused by the news of people protesting the colour of Mr Obama's skin - what difference does his skin colour make to his efficacy as the President?
We in the UK are a little overwhelmed with this presidential race - it's been going on so long and seems no nearer solution.

Mr Obama has a flair for speechifying for sure, that was a wonderful speech he gave yasterday. And his wife Michelle didn't do too badly a couple of days ago either! They make a handsome and intelligent couple.

Your photography is always gorgeous and enriching.
I also watched the convention- including the acceptance speech.
But I was disappointed in the first third- he sounded like John Edwards. Those weren't the words of a uniter nor new style politician. It wasn't consistent with the progromatic outline of the second part nor consistent with the loftiness of the last part.

The entire week was spectacular and Obama's speech was beyond mesmerizing. And yes, Martin Luther King would have been very pleased. We still have a ways to go though and I only hope the tides will now change. I finally got my thoughts together about this past convention week for my blog this morning. I am catching up on your posts above and below, but this one I had to leave my comment lol. I always love all your flower pics, and especially adore the pics of you and your past, I devoir your storys. But this post also very important. Although I am Canadian, and my opinion is useless, many of us do care about your country's politics..we keep abreast of whats going on. I certainly hope our neighbours vote for Obama as your president..we are neighbours after all, so what effects you, often effects us lol.
