UPDATE: This was a Great Great Speech. Memorable in every way. I'm really excited, Now, more than ever! Hooray Hooray! (9:47pm)
Indeed Naomi they are so pretty just a lovely fan :)
I have enjoyed the presidential race from this part of the world and I hope it turns out well soon.
I love the succulents and Obama, too.
your deck has beautiful flowers...
yes, hopefully happy days are here again. I seem to be singing this comment. I do hope things will be changing.
What a wonderful speech Obama made...incredible! He has a beautiful family, and I wish the best for him, and us (America). Your succulent is so gorgeous!
There will be a ways to go before I lose my pathological cynicism about politics. Yet, I hope Mr. Obama is worthy of the adulation he receives. Nonetheless, it is truly an historical time and I wonder whether observers will draw the correct conclusions from all that has transpired.
Gorgeous colours on the Succulents! You're so lucky to have them in your garden.
I agree Naomi. I had to cry at how this country has changed. What would Martin Luther King have thought of this??? OBama did and said exactly what he needed to say. He was wonderful and I believe in him and his policies. People seemed miffed when I speak of him on my Blog but I don't care. I know he can help this country and take us into the future.
Naomi, good afternoon, I too watched this convention. It is truly a historical time in our nations history. One thing every one needs to remember, Mr Obama is still a human, my prayer is that he is elected and can do even a fraction, of what he is implying that he can get done. I hope and pray he can bring this country back together, as well as help, with our young people, that are living, in despair, wilh all of the social ills that are attacking our country. Because they are also our future, and the current cycle needs to be repaired. Have a nice weekend. Pat from NY :)
Oh wow - what a stunning set of photos of your succulents. What colours and how dreamy.....
[big smile]
I am bemused by the news of people protesting the colour of Mr Obama's skin - what difference does his skin colour make to his efficacy as the President?
We in the UK are a little overwhelmed with this presidential race - it's been going on so long and seems no nearer solution.

I too am excited and hopeful.
Good girl supporting OBama!
I love succulents because they are so lovely and so unique to look at. You are lucky to live in a climate which favours them!!
Just a dream Naomi: One day to sit on your deck beside you and see, smell and explore your fauna together with you.
We saw his speech on Norwegian TV tonight too: I wish him and you good luck.
Mr Obama has a flair for speechifying for sure, that was a wonderful speech he gave yasterday. And his wife Michelle didn't do too badly a couple of days ago either! They make a handsome and intelligent couple.
What do you think about Mr McCain's running mate? She seems to be a relative unknown. I will watch the news tonight, there will be more about her I'm sure.
Your photography is always gorgeous and enriching.
I also watched the convention- including the acceptance speech.
But I was disappointed in the first third- he sounded like John Edwards. Those weren't the words of a uniter nor new style politician. It wasn't consistent with the progromatic outline of the second part nor consistent with the loftiness of the last part.
It will be an exciting race for certain.
It was a GREAT speech. An article in USA Today last week implied he was writing it himself (no speechwriters). I certainly hope that is true.
Great photos, Naomi! As you know, I love succulents and cactus too. They are my preferred plants.
Yes, tonight I saw on CNN the wonderful speech of Obama. What a great event! Very exciting, very moving! I really wish a good luck to him!
PS: I will read your current post very soon.
The entire week was spectacular and Obama's speech was beyond mesmerizing. And yes, Martin Luther King would have been very pleased. We still have a ways to go though and I only hope the tides will now change. I finally got my thoughts together about this past convention week for my blog this morning. And tomorrow.......my thoughts on Sarah Palin.

I love Obama & the fact that he accepted the nomination on the anniversary of MLK's speech was extremely moving & hope-inspiring.
It WAS wonderful, wasn't it. I was thrilled to watch it with my oldest daughter who will vote in her first presidential election this year.
I am catching up on your posts above and below, but this one I had to leave my comment lol. I always love all your flower pics, and especially adore the pics of you and your past, I devoir your storys. But this post also very important. Although I am Canadian, and my opinion is useless, many of us do care about your country's politics..we keep abreast of whats going on. I certainly hope our neighbours vote for Obama as your president..we are neighbours after all, so what effects you, often effects us lol. Fingers crossed that the US chose the perfect man for the job!!!
Naomi....Like Moon, I feel the same way and hope Obama succeeds. However, I think it's going to be very close given the bizarre turn of events this week with Sarah Palin's debut. Unbelievable.....!!
Obama's speech as well as his wife's speech were two for the ages!
Obama and Mc Cain also became the centre of attention in our country. Especially Obama had the emotional association with our country of Indonesia. Because Obama had in his youth lived in the city Jakarta Indonesia. Regards from Yogyakarta INDONESIA.
