guess what #4 - THE ANSWER

Here is the original picture that I posted, above.....and a second one showing a tiny bit more of this particular thing and with a slightly different light on it......And now below.....I will pull back and show you more of this thing...... Well....It really doesn't show that much more, does it? Sorry. Here below this picture really does show more, I promise..... Is it becoming clear what this is? Well, okay, here is another view----pulling back even further.....! And if it still isn't clear....well, here is another view of this lovely thing..... So...there is is! And just for good luck, I will show the the whole thing---including the Handles for the Hot and Cold Water.... I think it is so very pretty..the whole thing. A little less than two years ago I had to replace all the 'hardware' in this sink because there was a major problem. What had been where these 'new' things are, was in the house when I bought it, 44 years ago.....It is funny, because I don't think I would have chosen what was there but it was kind of fun....Here is is, just before it all got removed. Of course, 44 years ago they looked quite shiny and new....But I remember thinking when I moved in, that these fixtures were kind of over the top....lol...but, you know, I got used to them and they were kind of fun.....Having to replace them was not easy. Now I was very used to what you see above.....I did a lot of research on the Internet, etc....And when I found the fixtures that I have now, I felt I had found a wonderful replacement. The Old, above....And The New, below..... A lot less "kitchy".....lol.....This was a major replacement for me.....I do not like change and so I do not re-do, or re-cover, or re-anything, unless it really needs it....If it ain't broke, you know? Well, the Open Mouth Dragon Mouth Fixture was broken on the inside....And certain interior parts that are as old as these fixtures were---1961 is when the house was finished---just cannot be replaced. Thus, the 'new' fixtures in my so called Guest Bathroom. Indeed, it used by guests and by me.

So there you have "guess what #4".......Hope you enjoyed it!

More To Come........

so often when one has to replace an old favourite it looks foreign and alien but those are a joy to look at. How super.

If I am ever remotely close on one of these things, I'll probably drop over from amazement.

Cheers.

You got me. I was thinking it looked like tire marks but knew it wasn't and then thinking a plant for sure. I never would have guess a faucet fixture.

The duck bit the dust, eh. The new one is very pretty, makes me feel shameful for the state of some of mine.

Very pretty :-)

My mum & dad couldn't believe it when they liberated their bath from the cheap&nasty plywood sheets that surrounded it. It's a metal bath that has the clamshell type metal feet. And someone had hidden those away behind nasty plywood sheets ?

I'm very similar with change - should have replaced my car a couple of years ago but I'm only just being prodded into looking seriously. And that's because there are warning lights lighting up that are ominous ...

Oh, what gorgeous faucets. I just love the ones that look like that, both your old and new.
And again....not in a million years would I have guessed this...lol I'm terrible at these games.
Have a great weekend, Naomi.

Hi Naomi! What a wonderful surprise. Super and kudos to your blog.

I'm still shaking my head -- I wouldn't have thought this was the design on the tap.

Wow! I like your bathroom...very, very, very much -- old or new. Hm...shall gatecrash there one day eh?!

Do have a glorious weekend!

WOW; it's pretty! The details do not show well in your photos of the whole set, but I can see how ddetailed it really is. Very nice! I don't like change either, and I would not ever get around to replacing things like that unless they break and are un-repairable.

That was a ridiculously difficult difficult one to guess! But the end pix were worth it. And the old taps...what fun! The new ones are a fitting replacement!

(actually I don't think you call them taps, but I can't remember the word...faucets?)

Best rashbre

I like that - late to the party as usual, I did have a guess before reading down.....I thought it may have been a jelly mould (jello in the US?).

But those taps are stunning, and quite the suitable replacement for those old taps. I do like the idea of the spouting dragon head, though!

the old faucet is beautiful in a dungeons and dragons sort of way. hehe.

i think the new are more lovely in a graceful, ladylike manner. :)

I was going to guess that it was a statue of some sort. never would have thought it was your faucet, for heaven's sake! lol

I thought the old ones were cute, too, a fish head and tails? The new one is a good replacement, though. It's SO Hollywood Glam!

Saturday, May 31, 2008 at 2:22:00 PM PDT

Oh! I see you said it was a dragon. I thought the scales made it look like a fish, ha-ha!

I haven't been able to identify one thing that you've shown. But I will keep trying. I am a never-give-up-ski.

Well, I didn't guess it correctly. I don't think I ever would have figured it out.
I actually like the old fixtures and the new ones too, also, in addition, as well.
:-)
At first, I thought the old faucet was a duck!!
The new fixtures are more elegant.
I don't like change either. I mean if something is working well, then I don't like to mess with it. I get accustomed to it, and that is comforting to me. If something is not working well, I'm quick to make a change and find something that's better.

Looks like no one guessed it Naomi!! I sure never would have. The fixtures are lovely. I need new ones in our bathroom but keep putting it off. They aren't broke but they look kind of cruddy due to the hard water eroding some of it around the base in one area.

I love your new ones and the old ones were certainly different!!

I know you miss your friend so much. It's so sad to lose someone like that. I've been thinking of you during this time. Hugs to you!!

Beautiful sink, btw. Classy.

I came by too late to play but I know I would never in a million years have guessed right! Such a lot of detail in those faucets (taps we call them over here).

I've never seen taps like those of yours - but then Naomi, your place looks extraordinary so I expect no less of you!! Sorry I missed the opportunity to guess what they were - I wouldn't have been able to guess but still....

Your old faucet set is the SAME as the one I put in my art-deco apartment back in 1960? 61? It came from "The Akron"--remember that pier one predecessor?

The new one is lovely.
