guess what #3 - the answer +

Here is the "close-up" above, just so you can see the contrast. There were some very interesting guesses....and in one or two cases, you were close.....But, so far, no cigar. Her below the answer with a few different angles.......A Glass Candle Holder. And a little closer look below..... The thing is...I realized that the color changes depending on what's behind the glass....so that is why the first picture on the original 'guess what' page was so dark......Another angle below....
See? In this picture a wooden sculpture was behind it.....and that changed the color quite a lot.....I mentioned that this is a Glass Candle Holder....here below is a picture of the inside of this holder.....I love this picture..... And another view with the little candle on the outside of the holder, just so you can get an idea of size..... Not the greatest focus, but you get the picture (lol).
Thank you all for playing.....I will do some more, if you like....It is kind of fun doing these Macro shots of things, and sometimes discovering that the 'close' shot seems to have very little relationship to the object itself......

NOTE: I am in kind of shock. One of my dearest friends died late yesterday, and I am bereft. Truly, Truly. She was 88 1/2 years old....A very special woman....A talented woman, who's last years were incredibly difficult. She was a woman who loved life; who embraced life and all the joys that life holds with every fiber of her body. And she was endearing, in every way.
She survived the Nazis; She survived the Communists, among other things...And she gave up her fantastic theatre career---A Fabulous Career as an Actress---in Hungary, so she would not be destroyed by 'the forces of evil', and she thrived here in America. No, she never achieved the same stardom as she had had in Hungary....But, she embraced life like no other person I have ever known. Never Bitter. Never, (And there were lots of things to be bitter about....).

She survived three husbands. She survived all the many beloved cats she ever had...(No. No children. She never wanted children, and never minced words about it.) She had a splendid career here in Hollywood in spite of all the adversity....She was a very strong woman. Very Very Strong. She came to this country knowing no English and barely knowing another soul. Hanna was a true "survivor". I loved her with all my heart and am devastated by her death, as is everyone who knew her.

So forgive me for not visiting. I miss you already my dear dear friend.

I will write more about Hanna Hertelendy, AKA Hanna Landy...after a while......

More To Come.......

I'm so sorry to hear about Hanna and I look forward to learning more about her in a future post. She looks beautiful in the picture and from what you've said so far, she was a woman of strength and courage.

BTW, the candle holder is beautiful. You stumped me with this one. Good job!

I'm sorry for your loss. I've heard of a number of people who have come out of the camps and are the most inspirational people. I wonder, was it that attitude that helped them survive something so horrific, or did they develop that attitude to spite the Nazis?

Naomi, I never would have guessed it was a glass candle holder....I bet it is beautiful when it is all lit up.

I'm so sorry to hear about your dear friend Hanna's death. It sounds like she had a long, full life. I'm looking forward to hearing more about her.

I can remember hearing my husbands Grandfather saying that the hardest part of getting old is that your friends start dying around you. He lived into his 90's and was active until the last 4 months of his life. Like Hanna, he was a very strong man.

Once again, my condolences.

Sincere condolences Naomi. I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your friend and it doesn't help that they have lived 'to a good age'. It is always too soon to lose that rare thing - a friend one loved and admired.

It was very clever of you to choose the candle holder. See what else you can puzzle us with:)

Dear Naomi- we don't know what is out there in the Great Beyond--but if there is a place called Pearly Gates Estates, where all one's fondest dreams come true, about now Hannah is reconnecting with her friends from the past who already reside there. They're telling her about the Community Theatre, encouraging her to audition for the next production, and describing her housing options--with all the cats, she will need a very special place on a feline-friendly cloud bank.

Hi Naomi: I am so sorry to hear about your dear friend Hanna. A few months ago, I was trolling through your blog archives and saw her picture (at your birthday party I believe it was, if not then forgive me).

It is so hard to lose one's friends one by one in our twilight years and it is even harder to accept.

After all the memorial stuff, I will look forward to your posting about Hanna.

Take care, Love, Anne

How very sad that you've lost your dear friend, Hanna.
What an extraordinary woman! What a survivor, as you said.
I know you are grieving the loss, and it makes me sad knowing how sad you are feeling.

I missed out on guessing, but I would never have gotten it. I like those great, up close shots. They do give a neat perspective.

Finn is an adorable doggie! I can see why you are taken with him.

I hope your weekend is not too heavy with sadness.
I know that grief can really weigh one down, and it comes and goes in waves.
I look forward to reading more about this dear friend of yours and some of the things about her life.

Naomi, am sending you my prayers, as I know your heart is breaking. It is so hard to say good by to someone we love, be it a friend or family. It's top on my list of things to ask him when I get there. But memories, are one of his greatest gifts to us, and they can help us thru the process. Am sending you a hug. And thank you for the guessing game, was I way off. Can see how the color of an object behind the candle holder reflects the light.
By the way the photo's of Flinn, he's very cute. Sometime, I will have to tell you about Brandy and Chottie, they are my granddogs, Brandy is a red hotdog, mini, and Chottie, is a rottie/chow mix. who looks like a fuzzy rottie. Any way enough babble from me. And again my sympathy, to you and Hanna's passing. Pat

I still don't understand how a life just stops like that. So sad, so much to miss.

I'm choking up over Ted Kennedy today too. It stirs up what was already lost with his brothers and MLK and what might have been.
