I few people have asked about this stove, having seen it in my Birthday pictures.....This is a closer, head-on look at it. It sure is pretty, isn't it?Here below are a few more pictures of this lovely stove...some close-ups of the very beautiful doors, as well as a few other pictures.....
In this one above, you can see exactly where it sits....in the crook of the back of this Fireplace Stone Wall that divides the living room from the Hallway and Dining Room.....And then below, a closer look at the top of the stove, though it has a lot of stuff on it....
As you can see....there are these metal rings where one would put a pot on to boil or simmer....Right in the middle of the top is a wooden Cigar Box that belonged to my father....Over on the far left in the back is a lovely flowered porcelain drip coffee pot that I use to use, all the time, 'back in the day'....now, I don't even drink de-caf anymore, except on rare occasions.....
I just love the beautiful painted detailing on these two little drawers....I have never quite figured out what they were used for....And here below, more detailing.....
I don't know what the word "Dinsing" means, but it sure is pretty....possibly one of my readers will be able to tell me....But when you open this little door, it looks like possibly the wood or coal would go in here....
And I know for sure that the coal or wood went into these double doors....I found this really special stove while antiquing in upstate New York, around 1968-69....It was one of those things that I just had to have....And I have never regretted getting it. Early on, I thought maybe I would someday convert it to an electric stove or something like that, but I never did....and that is just fine. It looks so pretty there in my dining room....So, there you have it, dear Antique Stove Lovers....

I had noticed the stove in the previous photos and thought is was ever so lovely. Was it meant to be a cook stove or more like just for heat? It's hard to tell the scale in this picture but it looks small for a cook stove. In doing a bit of quick research just now Dinsing is the manufacturers name. I believe German.
Now I want to see a better pic of that painting I mentioned before.lol!

I searched Dinsing also.. lots of German sites that I can't read lol.. it could be the name of the company that made the stove, or the painter who drew the designs..

Thanks for writing me back regarding yesterday's post. The link you sent said the article was expired, but I think that all administrations are plagued with scandal and abuses of power. It's the sad truth. Even Bill Clinton himself admitted to giving misleading testimony under oath, and for that, his law license was suspended for five years and he had to pay a $25,000 fine.

I was surprised that you wrote "it is ALWAYS the Republicans. Always." That is what really caught me off guard. That is what I disagree with.
I am not an apologist for Bush. Like Clinton, he has done some things that I like, and he has done some things that I strongly don't like. I'm ready for his term to end.
I just thought it wasn't right to say it is always the Republicans when Bill Clinton did the same thing as Scooter Libby did. There is wrongdoing, corruption, and abuses of power in both political parties. We could provide many examples from both parties and all previous administrations.
I know you said this commuted sentence was the last straw, and you have every right to feel that way. It still doesn't mean that it's just Republicans who do these types of things.
Think of it this way, Libby's punishment is harsher than Clinton's. Libby must pay $250,000 and be on probation for two years. Bush may choose to pardon him at the end of his term. Who knows?
I may not agree with it and you may not, but all presidents have used their powers of commutation and pardon. Not just Republicans.
I hope you don't think my comments are at all angry because they are not. You are such a dear, and I respect your opinions and your wisdom very much. I don't do political blogging at all, so it is kind of fun to bat around our opinions.

That is gorgeous. Oh, my!! What I would give to have something sweet like that. We have been talking about getting a small wood/pellet stove....I love it, love it! I think that small door may be a 'warming' drawer? Or maybe used to bake pies, etc, when the stove was in use? I have a friend with a small stove very similar to that, and that's what hers is for. It is such a pretty stove, so full of details!! I found out that the Dinsing Bros had a manufacturing co. called "Densing Werke" in Viersen, Germany
(original in German here, which was in operations from 1898 until they went bankrupt in 1971... It reminds me of a pencil sharpener that I had as a kid. It was made of metal and certainly not as pretty, but looked just like it.

That is such a lovely little stove. I would imagine the little drawers are warming and baking ovens. Ovens used to be very small in the early stoves. Because it's a German stove, I imagine it was used more for heat than for cooking. It looks like a boudoir stove for a ladies parlor. So very pretty. You're lucky to have such a great find in your home.

Lovely stove Naomi. I'm glad you blogged about it!! My oldest brother and his wife have an old stove sort of like that one (but not as pretty!) and they even cook on it occasionally! They like the oldtime ways occasionally!
This one older lady I know told me that when she use to cook on a woodstove that she could get up and make a fire in it and have biscuits baked in 22 minutes!! Hi I was googling for information on our Dinsing stove, and your blog came up!
Your stove is very prettily decorated - ours is white enamel with flaking nickel plated chrome, but we like it that way : )
It's been fully restored for wood/solid fuel burning, and we will also be using it for cooking & baking when it is finally installed. We were always told that the small doors on the left were for (in order from top to bottom) inserting fuel, stoking the fire and the ash pan, and the large door on the left (we have a single large door hinged at the bottom) is for the oven.
