ALMOST DUSK ON THE HILL

It was one of those very very clear days that we get when there has been a Santa Ana....(a warm wind that comes in and blows everything clean & clear...)
Looking west....on a day like this, you can see way out into the Pacific Ocean....and it almost feels like you could touch the ocean, it feels so very close....I've taken hundreds of pictures of the view from my deck, and other vantage points, over the years....people say to me, "Oh you must be tired of this view by now...it's old hat to you....". and they look at me..thinking out loud..."you must be bored by all this, now...."

"No....I never tire of this view...never." I mean, how could you get bored with a 'Dusk' like this....

Because this view is always different; always changing. And the sky? Well, the sky may be similar from time to time, but, it's never ever really the same, twice....

Depending on so many factors, you can have every kind of Sunset one could possibly imagine. There is this, below....looking out at the ocean in a semi close-up....Amazing colors and not boring for one second....

Then, here's another beautiful breathtaking visual....How could anyone possibly tire of the ever changing, moment to moment sunset changes at dusk, up here on the hill...Look at this!

The day I tire of this, Shoot Me!

My lord I wish our view was like yours! I can't really complain though, while we can't see the ocean, we do get amazing sunsets & city views.
I was surprised that you actually could see the ocean from your place. For some reason, I just put more distance between Hollywood/LA and the Pacific.
Well, Michele sent me, but I would've been by anyways. :)

I agree! If I ever got tired of seeing things that beautiful, they should just shoot me! We are surrounded by trees, and I like that, but I would so love to have a water view.

I love where I live except for the fact that I can't see the sunset right from my house. Whenever I visit my mom I walk the beach every sunset and am always shocked at how different every one is!

People say things like us too in relation to the view we have from our apartment (we look at the city skyline). However the sky changes so many times each day - the way the light reflects etc., is NEVER boring. I love it. I will never tire of it. Just like you... (actually did a post the other night of the sky at 9pm)

my gosh those photos are brilliant and beautiful, thank you so much for sharing. very few of us ever have the oppurtunity to see that view from where you are.

we get some beautiful stuff here, when the sun comes up over the cascades and when it goes down over the coast range. there is a wonderful winery about 25 minutes away from our home on a hill high enoug hto see over the coast range on a clear day adn gives intriguing views of the pacific from here in the central willamette valley. of course all we have seen for weeks now is rain.

Michele sent me, OOL.

It's certainly an amazing location--and not an easy one to obtain, I suspect, Naomi. It's certainly not for me though. Between the dry desert-like climate and the city below I'd be running quickly. But many people would give their eyeteeth if not an arm or leg for your location.

And like Jane said above--I never realized the ocean was within sight of the Hollywood Hills. Amazing how small an area affects the world so much.
