progress

Oh Joy! A little baby birdie is in the nest....And the parents are still "sitting"..... I thought for a minute, maybe the parents had left...But, no.....They are still sitting and assisting their baby(s) who is growing.....Usually Mourning Doves have two babies....We shall see......

Meanwhile........... This lovely lush Opuntia is Flowering and bearing Fruit, too......Spring has Sprung! And my Agave stalk is growing, as we speak....... I cannot wait for it to start showing the beginnings of the Flower Pods....but, that won't be for at least another month or so......

Meanwhile......... 'The Mister', a.k.a. "Sweetie".....saw some of the paintings on the wall behind him needed straightening....So, he went over and went to work......I just missed getting a picture of his paw, doing such good work....! In the picture above, it kind of looks like he was straightening the paintings with his nose........! (lol)......And then......... He just had to lay down on the dining room table in the late afternoon sun and take a nap after all his very hard work! There sure is a lot going on around here, isn't there......?

More To Come...........

NOTE: HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ONE AND ALL!!!!

You bet there is!!

I love the photos of Sweetie. He reminds me so much of our beloved Snowball (who, alas, didn't have blue eyes).

Mr. kenju said to tell you that "My Sister Eileen" will be on later this month in a tribute to Betty Garrett. He will be watching, of course!

I just love Sweetie. Good for him for helping out around the house! How exciting to have a nest to watch. We have one by the pond. I hope the cats or snakes don't bother them.

I remember the first time I saw a robin's next with the small aqua egg. I was amazed. Then, a few months later, there was nothing there accept the hatched egg remains. I spent the whole summer (I was about five) wondering when the robins would come "home."

Thanks for bringing back that memory.

Cheers.

Great photo of the dove!! I've watched several generations of nesting doves myself, and always love it.

Sweetie is adorable.

We've got a big agave here that's doing the same thing. Can't wait for it to bloom!

There are many mourning doves here on the desert. They are the laziest of nest builders and I am afraid the nest and eggs that are near our front door have blown down.

I love the beautiful blue eyes on your cat. She is always welcome to visit and straighten picture frames and while she is at it, perhaps, she could catch the mouse that is in the garage. LOL

our feeders have been exceptionally active this year---lots of different birds.
The agave looks kind of like an asparagus stalk. I wonder if there is a connection?

Can't wait to see the baby. Maybe due to the uncertain economy, they are cuting down the family size.
Sweetie is just the most beatuiful cat and a bit compulsive but in a good way.
I saw Judy's comment about My Sister Eileen and will check also.

Last year when we were in Tucson at this time we saw a nesting mourning dove with two growing babies in it. Before we left, they were able to leave the next. This year the next had been knocked down and a dried up baby body was on the ground which we think means pack rats had gone after the nest and the babies. We are trying to think of a way to protect the nest space from that happening again if she comes back to try to rebuild

And Happy Mother's Day to you Naomi. Well, you're Sweetie's mom, aren't you?

My doves hatched, fledged and grew up. Mom came back to same nest and had two more. First day they fledged, Mr. Crow came. I won't tell you the rest. I used to like crows. Used to.

Hugs to you.
