lovely lavender

Here in Los Angeles, for a few weeks every Spring---usually the end of April, all of May, and even into June....The Beautiful Jacaranda Tree is in bloom.....! And they are everywhere. Over the years they have become more and more popular because they are so gorgeous! (I so wish I had planted some in my garden back in 1986...but, I didn't.....) Lavender is my very favorite color.....(I have probablyy painted over 300 different shades of lavender in as many paintings).......These Jacaranda Trees are truly special in every way. And no doubt, part of the reason for their "specialness"---besides the magnificnt color----is that these blooms don't last very long.....! Ohhhhh. This takes my breath away! The Beauty of these blooms, touches my heart so deeply......Once again, nature brings me home, home, home. There are many many streets throughout Hollywood and West Hollywood and Beverly Hills (to name just a few areas) that have Jacaranda's that are in bloom right now.....Below, a street in Beverly Hills, in 'the flats'........Just one of many.........
I just love these trees....And this is just a small taste! Because there is, without a doubt.......

More To Come........

They are absolutely gorgeous!! I had never heard of them until Shephard posted some photos of them a few years ago. The leaves look like Mimosa trees, but they are yellow. I would love it if they bloomed here!

Do the flowers give off a scent? I love purple flowers myself, which is why I planted purple: hydrangeas, rhododendrons, lilacs, and lavender. I am on the lookout for a way to grow Wisteria without it taking over the property. Someone said to plant it in a planter so it couldn't root out to any other locations. Do you know much about Wisteria?

I can't remember which country we were in when I first saw a jacaranda tree. I took a photo but nowhere near as excellent as yours are. There is something magical about the colour.
When MTL first retired we spent a month in Portugal in Jacaranda Villa but it was November so the trees were not in bloom. To see them en masse in an avenue is a most wonderful sight. Thank you:)

Another tree I've not heard of. I wonder how hardy they are and if they do well in more northern climes.

Times flies, really. We were in Long Beach last June and I took some pictures of these trees – it can’t be possible that we are in June already. We had visited the Banning Residence in Port Los Angeles and the street was lined with these lovely trees. One of my readers told me that these trees flower also in Buenos Aires, Argentina – would love to see them there.

Those are gorgeous trees! I would love to have those kind of trees next to cherry blossoms! Lavender or purple is one of my favourite colours!

What's even more stunning is the way the blue sky sets off the lavender too!

I'd love to see some more of your paintings some time Naomi!

Beautiful post!

That is the most gorgeous lavender color I've ever seen! The trees are magical. I don't think we have those here but glad to know they exist. I feel richer for having seen these photos. xo

WOW a whole street lined with jacaranda trees, what a marvellous sight. There is a house near me that has jacaranda climbing all over the front porch and it's in bloom right now.... gorgeous. And quite unusual beacuse I don't think that Jacaranda does very well in our harsh winters.

Yes! These trees are truly beautiful, as i have one in my backyard. The only thing is the flowers do become rather sticky and they get tracked into the house. Because these blooms don't last too long I can deal with it. My backyard is blanketed with their purple flowers! They are gorgeous, tho.....not a great smell to them, as i think they have a bit of a urine smell. Oh well we can't all be perfect! LOL

Gorgeous photos and trees. I didn't know them at all. Up here we have lilacs and wisteria which are also lovely lilac colors at this time of the year. I have both and love them.

Jacaranda trees are very popular in Australia. I know there is one town in northern New South Wales that even has a Jacaranda Festival when all the trees are in flower. They crown a Miss Jacaranda blah, blah, blah.

They are gorgeous trees, are they not?

There are several of those trees outside of the lunch room at my building at work. The crows love to sit in them and caw at each other. It was funny to me to see someone who was staying at the hotel across the street walk over and take a picture of those trees... it's just, they're in an industrial area, not a park... but beauty IS beauty where ever it may be found!

What beautiful trees...they would have looked lovely amongst your cacti.
I love this time of year. Today, it was an absolutely perfect spring day here in New York.
Walking along the winding streets of Forest Hills was like walking in an enchanted English Garden; it was splendid.

I think I commented that there was a jacaranda tree near me... I take that back, I think it is wisteria, very similar colour flowers.

I love how the trees outline the streets and lavendar is one of my favorite colors...and lilacs are one of my favorite scents. The Lilac Festival just passed in my old hometown (Rochester, NY) and I'll never forget how wonderful it was to visit the park this time of year. You are lucky to have such beauty in your neighborhood, Naomi. Enjoy, my friend, and let it fill you up with sweet, endless joy! xo

An avenue of lavender! How spectacular and I have to admit I've never heard of this tree before.

I love blogging for a number of reasons and being able to enjoy plants from other regions is one of them.

Beautiful.
