blog anniversary

In early October of this year I had my Fifth Blog Anniversary---for my first blog. One month after starting my very first blog--at the beginning of November, 2005, I was forced to start this blog. Why? Because my Computer crashed and died and I was so new to blogging I didn't remember how to get back on my old-almost-new original blog (lol)....Be that as it may....It is hard for me to believe I am now into my 6th year of Blogging. Many of us started around the same time, give or take a month or two either way, and many of us met through Michele's "Meet & Greet", a wonderful special blog that every weekend encouraged getting to know many people from all over the world.....Now, with Facebook and Twitter, so very many people have abandoned the Blogesphere---No, not everyone, I'm happy to say, but Blogging has definitely changed over these five years.I do think blogs can have a shelf life to some degree and people get busy with other things and move on or find something new to serve whatever it was that drew them to blogging in the first place, or it is just the way things are because of "life" circumstances. And here I am......My personal situation---being confined to my home because of Health Issues----was my road to blogging through the great suggestion of Danny Miller and his lovely wife Kendall Hailey. And it has been a life-saver for me, because it has been an avenue for my creativity which was always the most important life-saver of all, for me throughout my entire life......If you have read my blog for these five years, you know I was once a very active person out in the world...As a Writer of plays, A Composer of Music, A Painter, An Actress, A Singer, A Gardener, and many other creative things....I was involved out in the actual world---A very outgoing social creature---Dinners, Party's, Theatre, Movies, Involved in Philanthropy in a very active way etc., etc....Being confined, has changed all that as my Health Issues have worsened over these almost 6 years of confinement. Blogging has seen me through many milestones---both good and not so good.My 75th Birthday was celebrated here and all things being equal, hopefully, my 80th Birthday will be celebrated here this coming June, as well....There have been very painful losses in these years, and there have been some great wonderful fun times, too---"The Ladies Who Lunch" came into being because of my confinement and those have been truly special times for all of us and it seems, for all of you, too. I hope there will be more fun things to come., like the documenting of The Hawk Babies---WOW, what a time that was...And discovering that certain huge Agave flowers would bring hundreds of Hummingbirds to my garden and into my life....How Thrilling was that? And all shared here on my blog with all of you, just to name a few Highlights........But if you ask me what the most surprising and the most wonderful thing about blogging is----the very BEST thing about blogging, to me, has been and still is, meeting and getting to know such wonderful people all over this country and all over this world. And further, in some cases, getting to actually meet some of you "in person". How great is that?.....I thank every one of you with all my heart, for your friendship and your great support through good times and bad.....It is a wonderful reminder how very many good and kind people there are in this world. So I thank you all for your sweet friendship---a gift that keeps on giving.

And so....here's hoping I will keep writing and you all will keep reading, as I continue on into my 6th year of this fantastic activity we call "blogging"......

More To Come..........

Happy Blogaversary Naomi. Wow- six years all together. I haven't been around here that long as I came to the table of blogging late.
Kind of sad to see so many are no longer posting. A lot have gone to facebook. I miss them but will probably never make that move.
I have so enjoyed your blog and look forward to many more years of your cool posts.
You are so right. The best part is meeting people whose paths you would never have crossed otherwise.

Facebook and Twitter be damned. Blogs have substance; blogs require time and thought; blogs are scrapbooks of our lives that we can reference. I've so enjoyed reading yours for the last couple of years, and look forward to reading it for many more years to come.

Mazel tov, Naomi. It truly can be enriching to keep a blog...sharing bits and pieces of yourself with the world at large.

You've certainly enriched our lives with your stories, your photos, your entertainment experiences, your friends.

Thank you.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this post because it is written straight from your heart, Naomi. You are right, we have shared some wonderful moments with you, the hawk babies, the flowers, the birds, the cactus garden. And what about all those fabulous lunches??? And of course your memories of your childhood and your family and your career. I hope your blogging continues for a long time. I love reading what you write!
And will you really be celebrating your 80th year on this planet in 2011? I can hardly believe it, you look so good!
Hugs from me in Canada!

Happy Anniversary, Naomi! Glad I found your blog a year or so after I started my own. I sure know what you mean about not being tech savvy. I haven't been very creative with my blog, but have enjoyed seeing what you do with yours.

I enjoy reading about all your earlier active creative years, the individuals whose path you have intersected. Your cacti photos first caught my attention. Your comments on my blog are always fascinating and informative.

You are still creating on this blog, so hope you keep doing so for many years to come.

I can't remember how I found some of the bloggers that I read, but I remember finding you. You left a comment on Jammie J's blog one day and I liked what you said and decided to check you out. By the way, Jammie J was my blogging mentor and talked me into starting my own blog after leaving many comments on hers. I'm glad I found you and love your blog and hope you keep posting.

Just wanted to throw out a quick hello because I was watching a Western this morning called The Undefeated, with John Wayne and Rock Hudson (I enjoy westerns very much!) and the face of one of the lead lady characters caught my eye, and it was Lee Merriweather! I know she is a good friend and one of the 'ladies who lunch' so I am always happy to see her...she is VERY busy!!

Do have a happy weekend. By the way, I was quite shocked to read that you are going to be 80 in 2011...OBVIOUSLY your birth certificate is incorrect or you have discovered a secret to defying age! You look wonderful, not only physically, but you shine because of your interest in life and all that can be seen in this world.

Thanks again for blogging, dear Naomi!

Beautiful Naomi. 5 years and counting..... just like me. We may have started blogging for different reasons. For me, it was a way of incorporating writing into my daily routine and archiving the pieces, but it quickly turned into an outlet that was both life affirming and therapeutic. Like it has been for you. I am amazed at the intimacy of the lovely heart connections quickly made through this blogosphere.... like you mention. Meeting some of my blogger friends and staying in touch with ones who have become a part of my life in a way I never knew would be so meaningful is a blessing.
I would love, love, love to be there for your 80th birthday in June. To celebrate a wonderful milestone, but more importantly to give you a warm hearted hug before we sit down and have a good long conversation I know is waiting to happen inside the both of us. :)

I'm grateful that our paths crossed. Though I may not be reading blogs and writing as much as I used to, blogging and friendships continue to remain as important as they always have been.

Love to you....... Here's to year 6!

I LOVE this overview! I've been with you from the start, Naomi and count you as a friend indeed! I started blogging just 6 months before you and I DO miss the meet and greet. I think blogging is a great creative and social forum/outlet. Maybe it will be rediscovered. I do wonder how big a blog can get, how transitory or lasting the record will be. For me facebook is the classified ad as compared to the editorial of a blog.

Happy Anniversary Naomi!! You are one of the best treasures I have found from blogging
I think you're right about Twitter and Facebook taking a cut out of blogging but there are still so many creative people here - photos and writing and ideas and inspiration - so much more than banal 140 characters or throwing snowballs at fictious walls and friending/befriending like a pack of high school kids ;)

You know I adore you and your spirit and talent - and you make me better each time you react to something I've written - you encourge and inspire

I love you lady :)

Congrats Indeed! I too would never have begun a blog if not for being more home bound by my MS. And I certainly agree--the best part is all the terrific people I have met online and in person! For a girl from Indiana, it doesn't get better, if I must be home and not acting, speaking, luckily I can still write, win-win. Writers need stories and many bloggers have obliged! Loving all things theater, acting, art, photography, YOUR blog is the cherry on top! May you never stop!!
