watching a hawk

I just love when I see a Hawk sitting on one of those trees on my neighbors property. This guy or gal---I'm not sure which, was just sitting peacefully and checking things out..... I thought for a moment that he was looking right at me....If I could have waved to him and said "Hello", I would have.....Then, he did a bit of cleaning.... And then he began looking around a bit...It seemed he was looking down below---maybe at the street down there that has quite a bit of traffic...or, perhaps he saw some 'prey'......Then, he started looking behind him, I think....or at least that is what it looked like from my vantage point....Maybe he was checking out all those people who walk up on the crest of the hill there behind him..... Then....he turned his head even further around so now I could see a little tiny bit of his right eye....! I find it pretty amazing how they can move their head around so far without moving their bodies...... And then, he turned his head and once again was facing front....He looked so contemplative when he did that....As if meditating....Do you think birds meditate? I do.In fact, I think many animals mediate....Like my cat Sweetie....Sometimes I see him just staring out into space and he absolutely looks like he is meditating.....And here below is a closer look at this Hawk....And he truly looks like he is in a state of grace...... Sweet, isn't he?

More To Come.......

Note: Finishing up this big project to do with Betty G's. 90th Birthday Bash, which will be held on May 31st.....Soon, I will be able to lay my head down and rest a bit......And, today, April 2nd, is the Anniversary of my mothers death.....There are certain dates that stay in your mind no matter how much time goes by, or how old you might be....In this case, it was 43 years ago.....It is hard to believe it was actually that long ago......And yesterday, April 1st, was the Anniversary of my moving into my house---the very house I am still in---And that was 45 years ago......

Hi, Naomi really nice pic's, yesterday on my way to work, an owl, sooped down in front of my car, to pick up some fresh dinner, an unfournatuly, my car and it collided. There was no chance to miss it, stopped to make sure it was not suffering, as there is wildlife rehabilator who lives on my road, but it was not to be. And have been bumming today, almost got a deer,on my way to work today, thankfully saw him early enough to miss. We also have wild turkey all over the place here, Oh and last night, on our way home, from Choir practice, there was a group of deer and among them was a white one. I had never seen one before, several of my neighbors, had seen it previously, and told J and I about it, thought they might have been exgerating, what they had seen but saw it with my own eyes. Recently, received a digital camara, as a gift for 30 years with my company going to start putting it in the car, so when see some of the neet things, can capture on film. Pat from NY

Wow! 45 years in one house. No wonder you have some clutter. I do my best decluttering when I have to move. I know what you mean about your Mom's death. My Dad's TENTH deathaversary was last Ocrober and it just sort of floored me that a whole decade had gone by. And I love the hawk. Maybe it was your Mom checking up on you.

How can we ever forget our dear moms and all the significant dates when they roll around every year? I hope you look back with peaceful and joyful memories.

As for the hawk, what a proud bird he is. Can he stand any straighter?? I think not.

I can't wait to see the photos for Ms. G's 90th birthday!! It should be a fun and memorable celebration.

45 years - that really is a record that takes some beating.
The hawk is wonderful - he looks so handsome.
BTW MTL woke me on April 1st and said 'There's a buzzard on the lawn.'
As if I'd fall for his April Fool's Day joke:)

I love big birds. They stay by the roadways often to "catch" roadkill.
The bird does look like it is meditating!

The photos of the hawk are wonderful, Naomi. Anniversary dates can give one pause, I think. The anniversary dates of my mother and grandmother's deaths have just passed.
Have fun with the celebrations! And enjoy Spring.

Absolutely Gorgeous captures of a proud and majestic Bird.
Observing their movements and alertness is fascinating. When they flew away, it's like a good friend saying goodbye.

Of course do Animal reflect and ponder and dream. Just like you wrote about your Sweetie. They even make sounds when they dream.

Dates, yes, some means more than others. April seems important to you regarding memorable Dates.
And April 1: 45 years in the same house. I was still a teenager at that time and did visit France for my first time as well;))
(My BD is April 10 and my youngest Son April 17)
Both my Grandpa's died on December 25. My father on May 11, the BD of my second son (he was 20 the very same day - now he will become 40). And May 18, when my oldest Son died, nearly a year ago.
I still talk with him.
And April 6, when I first met Anna,
this year 30 years ago.

Have a great weekend

I'm amazed at how they turn their heads like that too! He does look very regal sitting there. I would hate to be a rabbit or a mouse and be down there wandering around where he/she might see me! I saw one on TV even catch a squirrel after quite a time of chasing it among the trees. I didn't expect it to catch that squirrel but it did finally. Poor squirrel. I know that is nature though.

I'll bet Betty will have one big birthday bash and rightfully so at her age!! I know it will be special.

Forty five years in one house is a good while! Take care Naomi! xxoxxx
