That's a very nice banner. We should all remember every day.
I love that quote.
very poignant quote......
Frederick Buechner, a Minister, professor and writer wrote this piece which I have in my jotty little journal because it struck me deeply......
“When you remember me, it means that you have carried something of who I am with you, that I have left some mark of who I am on who you are. It means that you can summon me back to your mind even though countless years and miles may stand between us. It means that if we meet again, you will know me. It means that even after I die, you can still see my face and hear my voice and speak to me in your heart.
For as long as you remember me, I am never entirely lost. When I'm feeling most ghost-like, it is your remembering me that helps remind me that I actually exist. When I'm feeling sad, it's my consolation. When I'm feeling happy, it's part of why I feel that way.
If you forget me, one of the ways I remember who I am will be gone. If you forget, part of who I am will be gone."
May we always carry the memories of our veterans and those who died fighting for our freedom.....so they will never truly be gone.
That is so true, Naomi.
And why our loved ones 'live' in our hearts for so long... It's what is so enjoyable about historical fiction biographies as well...
Without the veterans, we wouldn't have the freedom we have today in our wonderful country.
What a terrific quote, and so very true.
Let us never forget those who've served and those who've died in service to our nation.
God bless all our veterans!!!!
Hello...I haven't been here in a long time, but just re-discovered your wonderful blog...

Nice. I went to a Veterans Day Ceremony today. Very moving.
I remember telling my boys when their father died, that as long as the three of us were alive so would he be.
Love that quote, Naomi! It's very true!
PS: Sorry my absence here, but I have been busy with my new pc and I am "struggling" with Windows Vista... I prefer Windows XP...
