More To Come.......
Those are just fabulous pictures! Really wonderful. I never have that much luck with hummingbird shots, but you did a remarkable job with these! :)
I see two each year, not much for them around my city balcony, yet they seem to stop by. I am known among my family as a "bird whisperer." (Yes,the photos enlarge--fantastic.)
"Have you ever observed a humming-bird moving about in an aerial dance among the flowers - a living prismatic gem.... it is a creature of such fairy-like loveliness as to mock all description." ~W.H. Hudson, Green Mansions
When you told me that you had posted more Hummingbird pics I just had to come straight on over and see them! As ever your photos are wonderful. The first one in particular is a stunning shot while the others really tell a little story about these busy little birds. I can see why you love them so much and indeed I don't know anyone that doesn't like them. How could they?!
That Agave may only flower once in it's life but what a blaze of glory it goes out in, with these wonderful little birds in attendance, and the bees of course :)
Naomi, you are a real pro with that camera...terrific pics. Please let me know when that old record of yours is digitilized.
Hugs, Bud
What gorgeous little birds they are. You must have a quick 'shutter' finger to get the little beauties in full flight. Well done.
Such a beautiful composition of shapes and colours. I'll bet they say- 'Hey let's go over to Naomi's - she always has a great table.'
Apart from the delicious nectar your garden plants show then off to perfection.
I don't think you posted these picture before; I would've remembered this little guy's colors. I think this is as close as I'll come to a hummingbird, so thanks for sharing. He's an adorable little bird.
Really incredible pictures Naomi! Geez, if I had these birds in my backyard, I would be watching them all the time. Aren't they just beautiful.
PS: thank you for your lovely words about Charlie, they are very much appreciated.
oh how i love hummingbirds!! One of the perks of when I lived in San Fernando Valley!! They are everywhere ! Fantastic shots Naomi!!!!
Great pictures...so wonderful that you have natual food for them whereas I have to put out a feeder and they tend to fly in and out quickly.
Beautiful pictures!
You have such a wealth in your backyard. TY for sharing.
Anne
Just looking at them makes me smile and feel so much better. I haven't been out of the house in a week and I really miss taking pictures. Everything is cold and grey. Or is that a projection how I feel?
Lovely pictures. We're sometimes visited by a huge moth that behaves just like a hummingbird and is difficult to distinguish from one at full-flit. (I looked it up once, but I forget what it's called.) It's actually kind of disconcerting. "Oh, look at the pretty hummingbird. Wait, is that a bug? Eee-yah...!"
Your pictures are lovely as usual Naomi!! The little hummers amaze me. They are so remarkable and so cute! They are so tiny and yet they have those long beaks for getting to nectar. Hummingbirds bring so much joy to so many people. They are such fun to watch! Phil's relatives that live out in the country here have about 30-40 come and it's so amazing to just be there and watch them all!!! I'd LOVE to have that many come here!!
Naomi do yours live there year round? I am still waiting on mine to return with spring. Last year it was a little late with the horrible frost that hit Florida up through Virginia in early April.
You have a great zoom and or very very steady or you are getting awfully close. Your shots are impressive! You do great work. Who couldn't love those little creatures?
Gorgeous photos -- as always. A friend who lives on one of the islands up here in Puget Sound is just overrun with hummingbirds most of the year. When I was there last, there were a couple dozen flying around us the entire time, and she said that was a small group. She said usually there are 50 or more at a time!! I was simply amazed. They were so beautiful.
Can I just say two things:
Wow... and
Cool.
Lovely lcolourful ittle birds. I put a humming bird feeder up last summer, but didn't see any humming birds until August, and then I saw quite a few. They are so tiny, so perhaps they were visiting all summer and I just wasn't looking at the right time.
Naomi, I have to brag and tell you that my first grandchild arrived yesterday after a long hard struggle! He is a gorgeous, there are some pictures of him on my blog. Do take a look. I know I'm going to have so much fun being Nana to this sweet boy.
It is amazing what the camera will catch, beautiful as always.
Wow. You've outdone yourself on these pictures this time. Absolutely amazing the shots you were able to catch.
That last photo is amazing! I love the colors and the angle and the whole look of it. It's like a painting with the colors blurred and softened.
Their long, pointy beaks are so neat looking. They use those delicate things to "go for the gold" as you say.
You captured some marvelous shots!!
what such awesome hummingbirds.
the hummingbirds aren't out yet here in slc...
I've posted 2 comments over the last 2 days that have not shown up...wonder where in cyberspace they have gone???
I love the pics! I needed a look at a warm day and beautiful, colorful birds, Thank you!
Those are wonderful shots! Not to detract from yours, you might enjoy this shot I was fortunate to capture:
Hummers mom and babies
Hummers and woodpeckers are my favorites... oh, and eagles :-)
Fantastic photos!!
I always wondered where the little guys go in the winter! We have a few hanging out in the summer time. I love watching them flitter and flutter. Isn't it amazing to think that they have the capacity to travel such huge distances when the seasons change?
I am always amaze how you manage to capture those lovely birds with their speed and grace. You are very talented Naomi when it comes to photography as well!
WoW....some really beautifully captured shots!
Those are really fascinating photos, Naomi! I guess it is so difficult to take photos of the birds, principally hummingbirds!!
You have a bird's paradise on your garden! Well done!
I always love it when you post hummingbirds, mainly because we don't have them and I have never actually seen one in real life :)
Have a great Oscar weekend !!
I want a GIFT BAG darn it lol.
Naomi, thank you for your comments about my new grandson. He's gorgeous!! I'm so happy. He's already giving Mummy and Daddy sleepless nights and they haven't even left the hospital yet!!
Wow! Look at the size of those beaks!
Here you are with these delightful hummingbird photos. I never tire of seeing these fascinating little birds.
Wonderful pictures. Thanks for sharing those. In my part of the world, we seldom see them.
Glad that Michele sent me here to look at those photos today.
Those are great photos of hummingbirds!! I can't wait to use my new camera and catch some shots of those little beauties myself! My in-laws place usually is visited by 20+ on any given summer day! Looking forward to that!
Hope you are well my friend!
Wonderful pictures! You are amazing. Love it.
Hi Naomi! Just popped over from Michele's to take a last look at the humming birds before leaving for my son's 49th birthday. Have a good week-end. Back soon:)
You know I love it when you share your nature with us - this bird is so exotic to a Norwegian you know!
Wishing you a lovely weekend Naomi :-)
They are so pretty - all I get in the backgarden is the odd seagull and some particularly noisy crows.
Ah, fellow hummer/bird lovers - something just led me to your site today, and I'm delighted! - hope this will open up some visitor's to my site also - would love to hear from you, especially the bird whisperer- i am in a hummer fly zone near Yosemite, and always have a lot of them, some even winter-over in the snow - come visit me - Patti
Naomi, you've outdone yourself with these hummingbird shots... I especially like the first one and the one from above, where you can see the glimmer of green and rusty red feathers. Just beautiful!
