Sunday being the Academy Awards, and because The Kodak so close to me, I was aware today that the Helicopters have begun circling more than usual.... And I realized I could see really far looking south....so below is a closer look at the helicopter, but more important, a closer look at the view....you can actually see Long Beach in the distance over on the lower left side of the picture.....
And I thought it would be fun to go in closer if possible, so here below you can actually see the bridge in Long Beach....and this is really far away, believe me.... Long Beach is where the Queen Mary is permanently docked....It is a big tourist attraction and it is also a place where local people can go have dinner, stay overnight, get married, etc., and a special place to go when celebrating an Anniversary or Birthday....
And while we are on close-ups, here is downtown Los Angeles from my deck on this very very pretty and rather clear day..... And just to give you some perspective...below is another picture of downtown, not in close-up.....
Beautiful clouds today....and they never looked really threatening, just pretty.
And here below is a closer look at La Brea Avenue about 2:45 in the afternoon. Traffic here is amazing, isn't it? And below, just a bit of a closer look at all that traffic....La Brea is a very very busy street because coming up La Brea, towards me, is one of the main ways of getting to the 101 Freeway, sometimes called The Hollywood Freeway....and today it was probably a bit worse because so many streets are already closed off because of the Academy Award preperations..... This section of La Brea that is closest to me will be very interesting on Sunday afternon with all the people trying to get to The Kodak Theatre for the Awards....Lots of Limo's.....I will take some more pictures....
Wow! What an amazing view you have Naomi ... and beautiful weather, very cold and grey here this morning!
Wow, now that is certainly a view to envy..and I do!!!! LOL! What a wonderful clear day you ad. Your pics had everything in them - city, bridges, mountains, plants! Wonderful. You are so lucky adn I love that you treasure your views so much adn appreciate them. Thanks for sharing it with us :-)
Michele sent me to say hello this time!
Wow what a lovely blue sky! I cant wait to visit California. I have a sister living in Long Beach.
Are you going to attend the Oscars?
Anyway hope you have a lovely weekend!
What great photos! I haven't been here for quite sometime (to your blog) but the way you write your posts is very welcoming. Feels like I am right there in LA with you!! Hehe... Must be a buzz in the air (and I'm not just talking about the helicopters), a very exciting time with the Oscars. I hope you enjoy Sunday.
You have soma amazing vistas from your house. The view towards downtown is amazing. I stayed at a hotel somewhere in the area once and had some similar views. I love the buzz of your area and also that its also quite possible to get 'away from it all' as well.
Naomi... you do have some SPECTACULAR views up there on your hill! But I hail from DC - and that traffic doesn't look too bad at all to me! ;)
It was wonderful to see this clear day through your eyes and lovely to read your observations.
Here in Norway we've had a blizzard, but also clear and crispy air. I just love it:-)
Traffic in LA..now there's a topic one could write about forever! lol.
You do magic with your camera Naomi! I never tire of any photo's you take.
How far away for LAX are you??? When I come out next week I will stay with a friend that lives near LAX on W 98th st.
What a beautiful day and how fun for you to see all the hullabaloo tomorrow! I'm sure your title was supposed to make us think of the song "On a Clear Day" and it did. How it will astound you :)
Wow! What crisp shots! I love boating on crisp days because the pictures I get of the mountains are unbelievable. I love when you post these; it's like being on tour with my own personal tour guide! LOL
I get very excited about clouds lately too. I spent so many years not even looking. Los Angeles is like an exotic fantasy city to me. I think I would have a panic attack being in a city so big, but I love to see it through your eyes, Naomi. I didn't know there were mountains! I'm looking forward to the Academy Awards from here in the country.
I am afraid if I were driving in your city Naomi, that I would get badly lost and have to call you to come and save me!! No way would I dream of attempting it with all that traffic and such a big city.
Your views are amazing and I love those white clouds. Nice to see the mountains far away as well. Wonderful pictures as usual!!! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!!
Hugs to you!!
Wow, Naomi! What an amazing and wonderful view you have from your deck! Your beautiful view to a great city is just fantastic! Would be spectacular if I could see this view from my porch!
I will see also the Oscar Sunday night!
Big hugs to you!
You make me want to move out there. . . that, and this horrible Northeast weather. What time do you want me for dinner?
Those clouds in the first picture--I half expect an alien ship to appear in them, a lá Independence Day.
Blimey - LA is so BIG.......[looks nervous] Would I be brave enough to go there?
I love these pictures, I opened them up so I could have a good look at them! As always, a wonderful peek into your life.
It's so grey and cold here - it's getting very tiresome.
Remember that photo you posted of sunbeams on LA? I still have that as my desktop - I love it.
Sorry I haven't been around. Posting on my own blog has been just about my limit lately.
I must do better.
Oh, and in answer to your question, like all women my age, I fell for JD in Jump Street - before I knew about his rebellious and multi-faceted character! :-)
Wow! That top photo is just breath-taking!
I always feel like I've been on a trip after reading one of your posts. :)
Wow! What kind of lens do you have? That is really a great zoom! How cold is cold... cold here is anything under 40 degrees.
Great views, Naomi, and always changing, apparently.
What amazing views you have!!! You are so lucky to have a house with those awesome views.
Thanks for stopping by!
Morning OOLOTH, popped by from Michele's this morning. Great pictures and as you say a lovely day. It's been raining for about a week here and I'm sure taht my boys football (soccer) will be called off today due to pitch conditions.
Happy Oscar day Aunty Em. Between these pictures and watching E live today I am getting really homesick for my home away from home.
Get a picture of the blimp for me LOL
You have an amazing view! The pictures are fabulous! Thank you for showing us around.
Have a wonderful day!

Great pictures! Thanks for visiting my blog today, and the compliments on my daughter's coloring. She's been at it since she first drew a "person" at 2 1/2 years old.
You certainly have a lovely view of the world on the west coast! The view out my window is of TARGET...yes, the big red bull's-eye greets me at every opportunity.
Hi - yes our Amaryllis could be related They are that alike. I would love to see your other pics of them. I think I put my email address in the card I sent you at Christmas. If you don't have that anymore (understandably) then I could send you an email if you give CQ permission to let me know your email address. :-)
Hope youa re enjoying the Oscars!
Those are some amazing photos, Naomi! But, wait... aren't you attending the Academy Awards?? I thought for sure we'd see you on the red carpet this year!
I'm looking forward to your perspective of the big event...
and so too, I presume, is Michele!
I can't believe how clear that first picture is...what a fantastic view. I bet that is a treat for you when you can see that clearly.
I'm excited about the Oscars though I have to admit it is mostly waiting to see what the ladies are wearing. That is always my favorite part.
I've always wanted to meet someone who lived in the Hollywood Hills! I can't believe the view you have! Too bad I didn't come out of my apartment yesterday (or today for that matter) and saw such beauty.
Michele sent me!
Great sky and love the mood.
Great photos! I really enjoyed seeing the zoomed in shots compared to the zoomed out ones.
Those fluffy clouds against the blue sky reminds me of the Simpson's sky - The cartoon Simpson's sky.
I set the Academy Awards to tape so I can skip commercials and skip over things I don't find interesting. I wonder who will make the best and worst dressed lists??!! Halle Berry and Nicole Kidman always choose divine dresses and look amazingly gorgeous. Others sometimes go a little wacky with their choices of dresses, and it is always fun to see. :)
I think Scorsesi (spelling??) will break his losing streak tonight. He deserves a win at last.
You live in such a cool place! I love seeing your pix!
We live so close, yet are worlds apart. The sky today was so dark...I love to see black clouds coming in; it's so dramatic. I don't remember the last time I was in L.A., it looks the same as long ago, though.
I can't wait to see your pictures from today, Sunday.
Wasn't it beautiful today? It was a bit more misty where I live because of my proximity to the mountains, but still very lovely.
Thanks for sharing your view with us. :)
I have a couple favorite shops on La Brea. :) And of course, The Jim Henson Studios are on La Brea. Fun street.
The sky was so clear on our side as well! Was really a pretty day.
Geez! There is more people in that city than there is in my WHOLE STATE. I am not kidding! Great pictures!
