the latest and greatest.....

It's been quite a while since I have posted anything here......Sorry about that, my dears.
I feel like I have very little to say since my life is so restricted by my Health issues.....
I don't go anywhere, so, there are no new adventures to talk about......
I do watch a lot of TV......films and some shows.....It's getting close to Emmy time again, and as a voter, I have received umpteen amounts of "For Your Consideration" DVD screener's......plus, now you can watch so very many things on Netflix and Amazon, etc.
And, many many things are available through the Television Academy's Website......

It is pretty overwhelming and I cannot watch everything.....but, I try to see as much as I can. There are so very many channel's now, between the three Networks and all the Cable  Networks, etc.....
This is just one tiny example of what is mailed to you---and then there is HBO, STARZ, NETFLIX,TNT, FX, USA, BET, NBC, CBS, ABC, BRAVO, THE FOOD NETWORK, COMEDY CENTRAL, and about 25 other networks and/or Producing Company's..........ALL send these elaborate boxes filled with pictures and, of course, the DVD's----all this---must cost a fortune!

Trying to watch all that.....?

It Is Daunting!

The good thing about it is, doing all this makes me feel a part of my old life, so to speak.
And voting makes me feel as if I am still contributing in some way.....

The first go round of voting began on Monday (June 15th and goes through Friday, June 26th) and this year, for the very first time, ALL the voting is going to be done
 'on line',
No more paper ballots.
No more paper anything.
The Television Academy has definitely moved into the 21st Century, in a BIG way!

I'm not sure how this will go for me, because I always had a system that worked well when it was still all on paper.....
This is going to be interesting, or a disaster!

Well, here's the answer!

It is a frggin' Nightmare!

But.......I persevere, anyway.

The only other bit of nice news I can share with you is that a play written by the wonderful Actor/Writer, Jim Beaver, called
"VERDIGRIS",
which was first produced 30 years ago at Theatre West----and for which I wrote a song and score, was revived in a new production at Theatre West and once again, my music and song (with me singing from the tape from 1985) were used as they had been back then.
I didn't get to see it, but I got some lovely feedback on the production and particularly on my musical contribution to the play.
It was a lovely reminder of what that part of my creative life was like before my confinement.

Other than that, my days are spent taking care of all the many holes in my body and just trying to get some joy out of whatever small things I can.

And speaking of the little joys, here is a bit more news:

I have a Birthday coming up towards
the end of the month and I am planning on having a small dinner party here in my home, with some dear close friends.

We are looking at 84!

OY!

How the hell did that happen????

So, life goes on as best it can.......

More To Come.........

It is so good to read a post from you once again. It has been too long for me! I always love hearing what you are viewing and your thoughts, so I hope as you peruse some of the Emmy things or other films, etc. (whether on your cable or DVD) that you share your thoughts! You may think you have little to say but I think you have plenty!

I'm so very excited that Verdigris was revived and that you have received good feedback on the song and music. I wish you could see it, but isn't it wonderful to have made a contribution that still stands strong?

And you have no idea how hearing of your next birthday makes me smile. As we share a similar medical condition, I am all for hearing of another year in the bank for anyone, and especially for you. I know it will be lovely.

Hi Naomi! So glad you posted today and I always think you have a lot of interesting things to say, in spite of your confinement.

That's so exciting about the play revival and that your music appears in it! I'd love to see it.

And 84 sounds like a good age to me - I'm glad you have some of your lovely friends coming for a nice dinner. It sounds lovely, too.

Hugs!

Nice to you back again! Seems like you've been busy watching new films! And i agree with Lynn, you always have interesting things to say and show.

How cool to know your song has made a comeback!

84 is a great age, and I can't wait to see and hear all about your birthday lunch, they are always so much fun!

Life is daunting! How quickly the years fly by is daunting...and catching up on all the different TV shows is very daunting. I only have free-to-air and keep tossing up whether I should join the modern world and start streaming (or screaming)or pay-tv of some description...still considering.

Great to see you, Naomi...and it's great that you're planning your birthday celebration. I'll be there with you...in spirit. I might even raise a glass of spirits in your honour!

Happy Birthday, Naomi...it matters not that I'm getting in early. Take good care, my dear. :)

I was just over at Pat's and saw that you had commented, so here I am! That is a pretty impressive package from Showtime! I don't envy you the task of reviewing all of that material, no matter how entertaining it might be. Glad you're back posting! Here's another early Happy Birthday, Lovely! xoxox

Yay! A birthday and a dinner party, what fun! My mother celebrated her 80th birthday on Friday the 19th. I sent her flowers and gifts. She did call to say thank you, but there's still a distance between us. Good news about Verdigris, who are the actors on the playbill? They look familiar. So glad to see a post from you again. Have you watched many of the Emmy nominees? Did you get Outlander from the Starz Network? It's an adaptation from a book series I love. My favorite episodes are 5 with Black Jack Randall, and Episode 16, there was some really excellent and disturbing acting in there.

I always enjoy hearing your thoughts on what you voted on after the awards. It's interesting to hear how this takes place and what the boxes look like that come to you. I am sitting her watching "My Sister Eileen" with Betty Garrett and Janet Leigh and thinking of your blog posts of the birthdays and good times you to had. Can't wait to see your birthday post this year. Sending hugs to you from Florida.

My dearest Naomi
In looking over this weeks calendar, your name popped out as a reminder of your birthday.
My most sincere wish for a wonderful day for you.

This is my first time going into a blog, so I don't even know how this whole thing works. But I hope you get this message. I will be spending some regular time in LA between now and January. It will always be last minute, but will amount to about one week more or less per month. I would so love to see you. I think of you often and share such fond memories.

You are a very special part of my life and have brought tremendous joy even if only as thoughts of you crossed my mind as I saw somehting beautiful that made me think of you. Perhaps it was a flower, or a cactus, or a tender painting, or a caring person. You have been a part of all of these things in my life. And of course there are your paintings that hang on my wall and always bring me back to the days of us. Even a glance at one of your works of art, brings wonderful memories,

Much love and warm hugs.

Eighty-four years young and still spunky and full of life...and when you get something with FYC in the title, it shows you are respected and you certainly contribute something of value to the arts...unless of course the "F" in FYC stands for something else. lol ;) Just kidding, m'dear, with all due respect.

I'm happy to see you blogging more and sailing through this part of your life journey with humor and still entertaining us with your images and storytelling.

Please pass on some recommended movies, as I always add them to my Netflix queue when you do.

These next couple of weeks will be crazy with the move to Tampa on Thursday and I'm going to need some quiet time to unwind and relax with some good films.

Anyway, lots of love to you, my friend. Let's chat soon! xo

Am catching up, again, on what you've been up to. Sounds exciting that some of your earlier music is again being appreciated. Does suggest your creations have been of such lasting quality that others want to bring to the forefront again.

I've enjoyed trying to keep up with the evolution of TV, news reporting, music, theatre, movies and entertainment in general, but became overwhelmed with the proliferation of all some years ago. Sometimes seems to become more difficult to experience materials/music, etc. that truly resonate with me.

Happy belated birthday Naomi! I've been having a hell of a time getting Internet access during the moving process. Right now I'm using my cell phone as a Wifi signal for my iPad, even though I'm supposed to have Internet through my phone company on my iPad. Go figure. Anyway, I hope you had a lovely birthday and that friends came over to spend the day with you. Here wishing you a healthier and happier year this year. *hugs*

Oh I must have missed this but at least I wasn't late for your birthday and look forward to hearing about it.
I know what it is like to have work waiting to be done staring you accusingly in the face. Taken no notice and do what you feel like. You have earned the right.
I'm so pleased your work is still being appreciated. That's quality for you.

Hi Naomi! I know the feeling when the selection is quite overwhelming. For now, we have a Netflix, Canal+ and Viaplay subscription. Those three alone are more than enough. Talking about tv shows, have you watched Penny Dreadful? It is one of fave series lately :)

Anyway, just recently came back from a trip and belated happy birthday to you!!! Wishing you all the best! Hugs from us here in Norway :)

Hello gorgeous Naomi, I just checked to see if there was a post from you and there is. I am a bit late to the party but rarely online these days myself. I have been too busy watching Netflix. Oh dear, I am not sure how you watch everything you have to but I am glad that qualified, experienced and talented people such as yourself judge these things anyway. Fills me with confidence in the results. I hope you survived the online input and are keeping as well as you can. I do think of you often. I say this again and again but you are THE most interesting and talented person whoever blogged. And don't you forget it. You have kept us all entertained and mesmerised by the wonderful things you have done and still do. lots of love Lilly xx
