a celebration!

So, there were, as always, gorgeous flowers by Van, in the middle of the table...Above, a close-up of a flower I am not familiar with, but one I found to be extraordinarily beautiful.....
It's one of the things I just love about what Van does.....
Here above is the whole flower.....about as big as a silver dollar!
So very delicate and so exquisitely gorgeous.....
Below, another close look at a different unusual flower.....

You cannot see all that crystallization when you see the whole flower.....!
There are always very lovely Roses in these special centerpiece arrangements.....
And beautiful Orchids, as well!
In truth, it just wouldn't be a "Ladies Who Lunch" without a beautiful bowl of flowers, by Van........
And here below, are some of 'The Ladies'......
Everyone received a "DIVA" Cap......from left to right, that's Lee and Bridget and Annie.....
And each Lady also received an individual Rose in a sweet little glass, that they could take home with them.....
I loved these Roses and the lovely little glass that Van put them in, too.....
Before we went to the table, we had some  yummy little edibles, in the Living Room......
There were Marinated Tofu squares---which were superb!!
And some Crudites with two kinds of dip.....
That's Dianne on the right.....
There were other goodies and we all gobbled them up like hungry tigers....!

Annie and Seemah arrived together, since they live in Pacific Palisades---which is quite a distance from me.....
Annie was in fine spirits!
It is always a joy to see her! And of course it's always wonderful to see Seemah, too! She has a Birthday come up at the end of July...
There she is above, chomping on an Asparagus Spear......Yum!
Then, dear Karen arrived.....She is Betty's daughter-in-law and it was really really nice to have her join us......
And, soon, thereafter, we sat down at the table to have our Lunch......
Part 2 will be coming along next time......

More To Come........

Oh, I have missed your ladies. So nice to see them together and for such a special day. They all look wonderful and how nice that Betty was represented by her daughter-in- law.
Looking forward to more.

The first flower, the purpley blue one, looks like a kind of scabious, but I don't really know. I DO know, however, that all those flowers are absolutely gorgeous. Van is a magician when it comes to your floral arrangements.
The lunch ladies look wonderful, not a day older than when I last saw them at your house!
I've heard about California's HOT HOT weather, I hope you are staying cool up there on the hillside!

Happy Birthday Naomi. Love the photographs of you and the flowers Van sent for your luncheon. The purple one is a Scabiosa but the other exotic blossom escapes me. He is a genious with flowers isn't he? Have heard from one more Feaginite as a result of my blog.

Be well dear lady. Happy returns.

Hi Naomi, I know I am a stranger as of lately and I've just been catching up with all your blog posts. Loved reading all your posts and sorry to hear about the gardener, the helper that is. How sad. I want to wish you a Happy Belated Birthday! The flowers are so very lovely. Van certainly is at the top in his line of work!! The arrangements you get are far more exquisite and different than anything I've ever seen around here. I love your Ladies who Lunch, so will try to keep up better and might get back to blogging again. I have had a long break from it. I think of you often!! Hugs to you!!!

Ha ha love the diva caps. Looks like you all deserve them too! I was looking forward to seeing your birthday shots but your post didn't show up in my reader!

The flowers are so beautiful too. Flowers always make something look that much more special. Even though I'm not a great fan of them in some ways I think they are nature at it's most beautiful.

The first flower is scabiosa and the second one is a scabiosa pod, which forms after the flower fades. I love both of them!! Another wonderful party, I am sure. Lee is still quite beautiful and I wish my hair could look like Bridget's!! Alas, I have too much natural curl to wear my hair that long. Waiting for the rest of the pix!!

The girls all look blooming- like the exquisite flowers.
The first two are beyond description and the first one had a sort of cactii look.
