happy new year 2013

And so another year is almost at an end, and a new one, is about to begin...! I cannot believe it is going to be 2013!
Truly.
I honestly never thought I would live to see 2013...In fact, I didn't think I would live to see the year 2000! Or, even 1984, for that matter. I thought I would be so old by 1984.....lol....! At 53, I didn't even know what "old" was, back then, did I.....?
Here below, is one if the Great Theatre Actresses of our time---Patti LuPone!
Singing a song---words and music by, one of the greatest Theatre Composers of our time, Stephen Sondheim, from his iconic musical of the early 1970's....
"Company".
This was recorded in 1992 at a live concert called:
"Sondheim: A Celebration At Carnegie Hall".
(Available on DVD and worth every penny)

Here she is:
Miss Patti LuPone singing,
"Being Alive"
See you all in 2013......

More To Come.......

Lovely song - lovely sentiments. Of course you are still here. We are a good vintage - a rarity these days. Stay please and keep me company.

I agree Naomi. I can remember just the year 2000 seemed so "Buck Rogersish."
We made it however and hopefully will do many more.
Wishing you a very happy and healthy 2013.

Naomi, I remember talking about the year 2000 in school, when I was about 9-10. It was inconceivable to me then that I would live to be 60, let alone 72!

My wish for you is a very happy year to come and many more after that - in good health and happiness!

I wondered as a child if I would see the year 2000, it seemed so far in the future. But here we are, still alive and kicking thirteen years later, amazing isn't it?
I wish you all the best, may your days be filled with happiness and most important.... good health and fulfillment. And lots more of those wonderful flower arrangements! Hugs to you, Naomi!

I may be a bit younger but I have never really adjusted to the 2000's! Maybe this year will be better (not sure of what, but better! lol)

I look at every year as a bonus, and although I'm a bit younger than you I didn't expect to be alive at my age either!

Thank you for the song! Happy New Year to you Naomi! And here's to many many more to come!!

Dear dear Naomi. When I was a kid, and my mother would say that time flew, I would roll my eyes. Today, i truly understand!

I wish you days of love and laughter, peace and joy, health and wisdom.
And for the planet, peace.

In high school I thought 2000 seemed like sci-fi and that I'd be an old lady by then.

Nice song to ring in the the New Year!

Wishing you a year full of insight and enjoyment of small pleasures. xo

I so agree. I never thought I would see the 2000 - but I'm glad I did. 2010 seemed like a long stretch - but we made it. I'm enjoyig the journey and feel you are as well.
Best wishes in 2013.

I love this song and I love her interpretation of it. Here's to 2013, a year when perhaps some of the sadness of 2012 can lift, a year when we can fully enjoy all the good things of being alive.

And thank you for your beautiful card. Is this one of your photos? I noticed the matching address label. It's just gorgeous.

My great-aunt Violet used to say she would die young, "I thought it aall my life." I have held that sense too. She lived to 103. After I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer at the age of 39, I was sure the end was near. Now at 55, every year is an extra gift. 2000 did seem very impossible and sci-fi like.
