So, there he was---walking rather swiftly past The Pacific Design Center---A man that walks the streets of West Hollywood who everyone calls "West Hollywood Jesus"......It was quite extraordinary. I was unfamiliar with this gentleman, but Shawn knew who he was and said...."Oh Look, there's West Hollywood Jesus".....This was after I had taken quite a few pictures of the Red Glass Tiles of the new building......So, I began snapping pictures of him......(He told me he was on his way to the bank.....) He had no problem with me doing taking pictures of him---in fact, he was incredibly personable and seemed to very much enjoy the attention.....He was looking at the Red Tiles in the picture above...At least, it looked like that is what he was doing, to me....Here are a few pictures of those Red Glass Tiles, below..... They sure look pretty.....One wonders how pretty it will look when the entire enormous boat-like building is covered in these Red Glass Tiles.....Back in 1975..The "Blue Glass Tiles" of The Blue Whale were very very bold and rather startling....Then, in 1988, the "Green Glass Tiles" were pretty bold, too, but we were accustomed to the idea of an ALL one color building .....Now, in 2011...we have Red....WOW! And, we have 'West Hollywood Jesus'......! I took some video of him.....But dear Blogger wouldn't let me post the longer one of these---The BEST of these two Video's...But, here below, is the other one that they did let me post. WeHo Jesus had a camera and he was taking pictures of me---and some other people that came along....He then, he directed these other people to come over to me! Well, you will see what took place.......
A friend of his came by and I got a picture of him with 'Kevin', Weho Jesus' real name.......When I asked him if he had a job, he said, "It's been lovely meeting you....!"...LOL!He told me on the longer Video to go to isawjesusinla.com, and see other pictures of him.....Give it a look see.....And below, here are two pictures that Shawn took of the structure of the Red building with his Blackberry one day, while walking his doggie in West Hollywood....He said to be sure to tell you all that he is not a professional photographer....I think they are pretty damn good...... It really does look like a boat that has docked on San Vicente Blvd. and Santa Monica, right there in the heart of West Hollywood.....Below, a farewell from 'Kevin".....he sure is an interesting man....Only in L.A.
lol it seems I missed him when I lived out there! But then anyone walking the streets "exhibiting" theirself isn't something new for the "hollywood" area !
Well, that was different and interesting. He never did answer you if he had a following. I wonder----. He certainly was taken with you. Perhaps he was recuiting?? Only in Hollywood.
I read the title before the photo downloaded, so I thought you were saying "Jesus" like "Jeez!" I would think he would get bored of being in that get up. I guess it's free advertising and maybe he gets hired to play the part.
Everything about him: his gait, his hair, his raiment, his voice, his manner are fitting for an imagined Messiah and apparently it is not just a momentary impression. On the link someone said: 'Kevin Lee light is a sweet man with a very sweet heart and he is indeed a good representation of good Christian manners and values. God was looking after me that evening when He sent to me a saviour when I needed one the most.' You were fortunate to meet him.
Naomi, I always LOVE seeing your posts about LA! What an interesting man walking the streets named "West Hollywood Jesus". I would love to be there walking with you... Would be great!
I just got back from L.A. And had the privilege of meeting Kevin. I offered him a slice of pizza while he was eating his chicken soup at Rainbow and he invited himself to sit in the booth with my friend and I. He is very tall and thin, but not intimidating or threatening in the least although I must say I was sort of taken aback initially. I was in amazement at the amount of wisdom and intelligence he had to share-just a phenomenal conversationalist we chatted with him for about 45 minutes took photos and he was gone. I will definitely look for him next time I go out there just To say hi. He is so kind and genuine and an absolute joy to have experienced.
