And, he certainly got me.The way he died is every one's worst
Medical Nightmare. And he didn't deserve that. In fact, no one, deserves that. My dear sweet friend, you are out of pain now and may you rest in peace with ALL the beautiful Angels that you have painted......"The Annunciation"
(Sorry about the light reflected in the glass).....Morris gave this magnificent painting to me at Christmas, 1968.....The Angel Gabriel and Mary.....Besides painting very serious subjects Morris also painted whimsical things like "Day Bear", below.... But you can see the sadness in the 'Day Bears' eyes....Yes, Morris understood the pain of life as well as the Joy. I could write much more, but I will stop, for now. Rest In Peace, Dear Friend........
More To Come........
Note: Just a word about the Hearing Aid you see in Morris' Left Ear....Morris was profoundly deaf but had about 40% Vibration in his left ear....The Hearing Aid helped that 'vibration'. Also, I will resume my New Years Eve Party Posts in a few days......
Oh I'm so sorry Naomi, I love his work too. How fascinating the way you say that because of his deafness all his other senses were more powerful?
I understand that.
I believe God has a special place for people like Morris, don't you? As you say, no more pain, and now he can hear too. :)
These paintings are magnificent!!!
Thank you!!!!!
May a gracious and loving god be good to this great and loving man and my sincere condolences to you and his family.
Naomi.... You have introduced me to Morris' artwork through your touching post. It's so wonderfully vibrant, emotionally and spiritually. Wow. The painting of you is so evocative. I really like it.
I'm so sorry you've lost a dear friend. May his spirit forever be around you.
I'm sorry about the loss of your friend, Naomi. What a wonderful spirit shines out of his art works. Sometimes it's the case that people who 'lack' some ability are extra gifted in other areas. I guess Morris was one such person. My sincere condolences.xxooo
I am so sorry Naomi.
Oh, sweet lady, I am so so very sorry to hear of your loss. It makes perfect sense to me that your soul is hurting and you're expressing that through his artwork. Thank you for sharing that with me and know that I'm sending good thoughts your way!
Dear Naomi, I'm sorry that you lost someone so dear to you.
His spirit will live on through his wonderful work, and will touch countless lives in the future.
He was a very gifted artist.
Kevin
My dear Naomi,
I am so sorry you've lost a dear friend. His paintings are just wonderful! I saw many works of him through your post. So beautiful indeed!
Many hugs to you.
Oh Naomi, what a sad loss for you and I know you must be feeling this loss of a friend very deeply indeed. I know from reading your posts on Morris and his art works, that you had a deep spiritual connection. But what a feast of art he has left you and the rest of the world. U feel that the world is all the better having had him spend time here. Sending you my condolences and hugs at this hard time for you.
My condolences to you and his family. The paintings truly are wonderful, and I can see why The Annunciation is profoundly moving. Thanks for sharing these during your mourning.
Dear Naomi, I am so sorry for your sadness today. I've always seen his paintings in the background of your life and wondered about the. Thank you for letting us share his life with you.
Dear Naomi,
Thank you for opening my eyes to an amazing world as seen by this sensitive, talented artist, and for letting me know how you have been touched by his work.
Powerfully beautiful, yet moved by pain, he showed life in a way that I think is a definition of life. In all the eons of living, how wonderful that you and he should have been alive at the same time, in the same place, and that you should call him friend.
It has been a shock. This pain is strong. When you are ready, may healing begin and a tender pain be left. He left a physical legacy that adorns your walls and life. Please continue to show us his work.
Peace,
Elizabeth
I am so sorry for your loss.I feel extremely privileged that I was able to see all the paintings in this post "in person" and I still remember you talking about them and about Morris with such love.
May he RIP
I am so sorry Naomi for the obvious pain you are feeling from the loss of a dear friend.
It is wonderful that you have so many pieces of him in his outstanding paintings.
As Cool Joe said, he now hears all the beautiful sounds he was denied in life.
Rest in peace Morris.
not the way we want to start the new year.
I am so sorry for your loss Naomi.. it's never easy loosing those we love...

I have to admit I have never had a real painting in my home but that is a tragedy to lose such a great friend.. find your own way to grieve for him and come back when ready..
Those paintings you showed us are absolutely beautiful..
Naomi, I remember your previous posts about Morris and his paintings, and I know how devastating a loss it is for you. Please accept my condolences and I hope he will rest in peace.
I found this online from David Ankrum:
William Challee said, "We are stumbling in the darkness-toward the light. Morris, more than anyone I know, must be balanced in the tough and tender darkness of our heart-the heart with curious divinity pierces the blackness that our eyes alone cannot."
I am so sorry for your personal loss my sweet dear wonderful friend
A small bit of solace can be found in the fact that so much of his heart and soul lives on in his work and so very few people can have that said about them
a giant gentle hug to you
I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of your friend. Those paintings are wonderful, I can see why people asked about them.
Take care.
I do not know how to comment in proper way..
His paintings are brilliant - never seen them before.
But the fact, we grew older, and some of us live longer than others,
all the good memories will never ever slip our brains - our great friends are still there..
It's sounds stupid, but I think you know what I mean when I say:
We talk with them in our dreams and memories.
Our little kitten, Lilli, is back to normal...
big hugs

Oh Naomi, I wanna cry and I felt the intense loss of your dear dear friend, my deepest condolence and may his legacy lives on forever.
He was indeed a great artist and it is a loss not only to the art world but to everyone who loves art.
Naomi I am so sorry for the loss of your talented friend. His paintings are amazing. Starting 2011 with sadness is just no good at all. What a touching tribute you've given him, so filled with love.
Naomi, I am sorry for your loss. I remember you posting about him. I am glad you got to know him personally and have some of his artwork to remember him by. As for the flash on Mary, before I read the caption below the picture, I just thought of it as the light of God.
My sympathies for your loss and that of us all--such a great artist. His work "spoke" to him. There is much to be said for that release from our bodies which fail us.
I am so sorry for your loss, Naomi. Morris' art has a wonderful quality about it--it feeds the spirit and touches my being. Thanks for sharing it---even if it is for this sad reason.
God bless and comfort you in your loss.
I sorry Naomi to read this post of the passing of your artist friend. He was very talented and his paintings always stand out in your photographs of your home.
May he now rest in peace.
((hugs))
Naomi, I'm so very sorry to hear this. I know you have shown his paintings before and how fond you were of him and his work. I'm so sorry to hear of his passing and you have my deepest condolences, even though they are a bit late.
Love and hugs,
Rachel
