merry christmas

Wishing everyone who stops by to visit or comment from all over this big world, the most wonderful Christmas, ever......Below....are two pictures from Christmas, 1989, New York City, Rockefeller Center.......The top picture is me with my 'bestest' friend Betty Garrett, who was performing on Broadway, at the time, in the stage musical of "Meet Me In St. Louis"........ Above, is Betty's dear older son, Garrett Parks. We were standing in the freezing cold there, near the Rockefeller Center Tree.....We got no good pictures of the tree...but, I found a few on The Net, and what you see below is very much like what we saw that Christmas Eve Night...... There is something so very magical about New York City at Christmastime---if you have never experienced it you are missing one of the most moving and memorable happenings that exist! It is beautiful and elegant and tasteful, in every way...... May your Christmas be Blessed with the Grace and Seriousness of the Season and may the Joy that accompanies this time of year be yours, as well........Again, I wish you a very Merry Christmas and may all good things be yours on this coming Christmas Day, 2010, and in the New Year to come, as well! Blessings, To Each And Everyone Of You!

More To Come..........

My wife and I were in New York for the Christmas holiday in 1989 and saw that revival production of Meet Me In St. Louis. Small world, I guess.

A Happy Holiday time for you, dear.

Cheers.

Really wonderful picture of you and Betty. Your friendship has weathered beautifully thru the years.
All the beautiful shots of NY and I am smiling at the mouse in the balls. Must be my country girl nature.
May you and every one you hold dear in your life have a wonderful Holiday and just a delightful 2011.
Hope that bug is history.

Merry Christmas to you too!! I know you already have the treasure of abiding holiday memories, of marvelous Christmas seasons spent in New York, Los Angeles, and other places. You've enjoyed the love and companionship of such wonderful friends over the years, and Betty is the dearest of all.
Life is never perfect, and you are enduring your share of hardships, but through it all, I am thankful to know that you can draw from the well of joyful memories, and your well is rich and full of them. Health is such a big part of whether or not we can truly enjoy life, so I pray your health improves now and on into the New Year. You are truly a treasure and gift to those of us who are blessed to know you! My family is off to San Fran to enjoy the holiday sights and to see some wonderful art at DeYoung museum. I'll think of you while we are there!

I wish that we had been privileged to see Betty in a live performance!
Please tell her that Jim and I wish her a very Merry Christmas and the happiest of New Years to come - which is the very same wish we have for you, Naomi. I do hope that your health issues abate in 2011 and that you will feel like blogging more often. Thanks for the nice, nice card (I got it today).

merry christmas---miami style, c. 1949

I'm dreaming of a bright christmas
just like the ones I used to know

Where the palm fronds glisten
and tourists listen
To hear foghorns soft and low

I'm dreaming of a bright christmas
with every Christmas card I write

May your days be merry and light
And may all your Christmases be bright

NYC certainly is a gorgeous place to visit over the Christmas holiday season. I loved the trumpeters and the tree, and the store front displays, so many people, lights, decorations, it was magical! Happy Holidays Naomi!

Christmas isn't Christmas until I visit your holiday post and wish you the merriest of Christmases in the world, dear Naomi.

I have only been in New York once, and it wasn't December, and I didn't get to walk around and really see anything because I was there for a conference, but the city is always so beautiful in the movies, and some day I will luck out!

Stay inside and warm, dear friend. We're gearing up for another blizzard in southern Indiana.

What gorgeous photos of you! Wowza.
What part did Betty play?
I've been to NYC twice just after Christmas before (and once during) New Year and all the decorations were still up and everyone was very nice and friendly and this was in the late 70's when NY had a bad rep. I loved it. Betty seems too young to have played Katie, who I think would be the most fun to play. (Cabbage has a cabbage smell!)

Dear Naomi,
I must confess, yeah this very serious:
Only been to N Y City once, and only for a short evening (on our way to Merida at Yuctan).
But where did we go:
Right there, looking down at the Ice Rink.
Where else - when you have only 3 hours in New York during X-Mas time?
Happens to be only some years after your performance - but next time I hope to with time and body at the same place as you are.

btw. Posted some scenes from the Graveyard. I'll post some more happy ones during the Weekend.

hugs
Tor

ps. Happy you are up again writing. I know about when fingers do not follow your mind....
