More To Come........
Hello my dear Old Lady, I love your photos! It's almost as good as being there. Miss Patti LuPone's book sounds wonderful. I learn a lot from reading your posts; oh to have been alive so long, and for such a rich period in theatrical history. You write with true eloquence (mwah!). Shall go to the theatre more often in future! it is too easy to stay home and watch things on screens. Lately my hubby & I are working on repertoire to perform in a little local bar - we both sing, play guitar, piano, etc. I feel it's a wonderful thing, to perform if you can. Also I have very much enjoyed hearing about your bro Gordon. xxxoo Michaela
how nice of them to make a fountain in honor of your birth! It really is beautiful Naomi, and as always your photo's show it off perfectly!
Fountains are wonderful additions to city's landscape. The become not only a place of beauty, but a gathering and/or, as your photo shows, a resting place.
You are right, I wasn't sorry. Lovely detail.
About that guy, I'd probably have had to have checked him out though he was probably sleeping one off or that was his new home. Is the increase of this due to the economy?
What a gorgeous fountain. I love to watch water shooting up into the air and then cascading back into the pool below, but unfortunately, the sight of all that water always makes me want to visit the little girls room!!
Your "Tour L.A." posts are always a treat, dear.
Cheers.
your photos and descriptions are divine (as always). i can't wait for the "more to come"-- the personal connection stories warm my heart. every time. :)
That is a beautiful fountain. There is something very relaxing about fountains and the noise of water, as that person proves!
I agree with Joey; the sound of water is very relaxing and I love to see fountains. I don't recall seeing that one when I was out there, but the ones in NYC always draw me in.
Seattle has many lakes, a sound, a bay, locks, one giant fountain near the space needle...one reason I moved from IN, to bear near water. I bet with your high temps fountains are a draw.
Lovely fountain. Interesting about the colors. I recall in the fifties in the Midwest water shows with lights and colors were quite popular.
just the way you dazzle everyone :)
hugs to Sweetie
Its amazing.. I love fountains. We had one in town I loved during the summer but they took it out to put in another condo building and havent put anything back yet.. It sucks but what can you do about it. They are trying to make money when people can barely afford to keep there dang houses now a days here..
What a gorgeous fountain, Naomi!
It's very relaxing to hear the noise of water.
I always enjoy with great pleasure your tour around your city!
Did I told you that I would love to know Los Angeles? (LOL)
Have a good weekend!
I love fountains and that is a beauty! I wish I had a fountain in my yard. I think they are so lovely, and the sound of the water makes it all the more special.
Hope you and dear Sweetie are doing well. xxoxx
You don't want to see yet another dead body! I love the fountain with the rainbow in it. Wonder if I'll ever see in in person and think of you.
PS the link at my site was supposed to go to pit viper ice cream! They have some wired ice cream flavors in Japan, like soy sauce and fish!
hello, my dear. love this post. that is one gorgeous fountain. cities always need a little oasis in the middle of all the hustle and bustle of our daily lives. =)
It is absolutely gorgeous! Thanks!!!!!
Glad you got out and about. The fountain is beautiful. The guy looked like he was sleeping. Do you have a lot of homeless people in that area? I have a homeless man who lives outside my office window, inside the fence hiding the HVAC system for the church next door. He's a Vietnam Vet and doesn't like to be indoors and doesn't want people to talk to him or come near him. He's fine if you respect his boundaries. He'll pick up the daily newspaper in front of one of the other law firms and read it really early in the morning. Then he folds it all neatly and puts it back in the wrapper and returns it where he found it. He scrounges through all the area trash cans for his meals. The County Executive gave him a "pass" to sleep wherever he wants downtown without getting harassed by the cops.
Gorgeous fountain.
The homeless population is definitely up. Sad. A job is a great blessing.
Another great discovery of yours Naomi and BTW how i wish I had your talent for links - brilliant.
Has the fountain really been going since 1931? That's amazing.
I do hope the gentlemnan was just having a ZZZZ.
I hope Sweetie's medication is working well.
My computer's been acting up, so I could not enlarge the pictures, but I'll have you know I LOVE fountains!! There's nothing like the mist from a beautiful fountain any time of day or night. So romantic. I will click on the description next. Thanks for sharing and I hope you have a beautiful and refreshing week, my friend! xo
PS - I just popped into the site. Love the decorative tile and how the combinations/colors change every 8 minutes. Wish I could see it up close!
This is truly a stunning fountain. I like fountains very much and will always take them in pictures. In Savannah two weeks ago I could not stop taking pictures of the many fountains there. When I was a teenager our house was across a fountain. In summer I’d leave my window open and could hear the gentle sound of the fountain as I went to sleep. Next time I go to California to visit my daughter I’ll ask her to take me to this fountain, it is a beauty.
This fountain is now on my "to do" list! How cool that it has different "shows"!
Thanks for the fountain links, they were wonderful! I love the spray of a fountain, the mist that is left when the water hits the stonework, even the scent of the whole thing and of course the sound of the cascades...I would love to see this..maybe someday!
By the way, I read your post about Century Park first and saw the $47 million pricetag on the penthouse, then compared it to this $22,000 fountain...wonder what it would cost to build in this day and age, eh?!
Thanks for these great posts, I always learn something and see things through your artist eyes. You love your town and it shows!
Take care.
