Here are some more views taken at different times from the deck of my home...looking East---at Downtown Los Angeles....This one above was taken on one of those clear crisp days where you can see everything....of course, there is always that look on the horizon as in the picture above, at least it doesn't look as treacherous as it sometimes does...,
Above, another shot on a different day with more pollution across the horizon and some beautiful cloud formations as well....And as you look up, the sky is blue and clear....
And a rather dramatic sky with those clouds that fortell a big storm is coming our way....and still, the overtones of pollution hang there on the horizon....And then, below....more "Drama" and more Pollution....and a rather mixed message where the possible rain is concerned....
And then here below, this picture was taken after the last big fires that took quite a few days to get under control and you can see the evidence of the smoke on the horizon...and this is what we were all breathing----and I know, because I can see it over there...and everyone over there can see the same stuff hanging in the air over where I am, too....
And another truly amazingly dramatic picture---still looking east towards downtown...
I truly love where I live so very much and one of the biggest reasons is the view that I have, looking East, and South, and West witnessing nature doing it's 'thing' in the middle of this amazing city....as I said in the last post...it is never ever boring....And returning to looking West from my deck....I took this picture tonight as the sun was beginning it's beautiful setting....once again, a sky that reminds you of how tiny you really are in comparison to a sunset....
This is so simple and beautiful and yet so complex in the second by second changes that occur as you continue to look at it and blink your eyes.....

Your view is wonderful, and the sunset pictures in the post a few down are just amazing. I take sunset pcitures from time to time, but it's hard to get around the bits of houses and trees that are in the way here

Thanks for sharing these photos of some really spectacular views to which we are treated here in the L.A. area. Love the look of a stormy cloudy sky, too. Surely wish we'd get some of those skies and rain, now.
Always sad to see to what our respiratory systems are sometimes subjected on those days when the skies aren't as clear. Some beautiful sunsets seem to come out of it sometimes, somehow.

You really do have a unique view, Naomi. There are so many trees around us that I would have to get in the car and travel 6-8 miles to get an unobstructed view of the sunset. You are lucky to be able to see that vista everyday.
The last time I was in LA, I saw that coppery-colored haze hanging in the air everyday, and especially when we flew out of the city. It is beautiful and ominous looking at the same time.

So lovely. I've been to LA once at relatives of my husband's who are up in the hills but not as high as you are.
I adore sunsets. Just completed a sunset over the Blue Ridge Mts. acrylic collage that I'm entering in an art show. Just doesn't compare to the real breathtaking scenese no matter how much I love creating. Nature's paintbrush is still far superior!P.S. I get so confussed by directions..... that is why I loved living in Oklahoma City. You couldn't get lost. It was laid out on a square grid and the streets numbered from the middle out. The four quadrants of the town were NW, NE, SW, SE and all you had to do was find a cross street sign and know which way to go. I don't do circular cities very well.

Naomi, my camera is a Gateway, made by the same people who made Gateway computers. I am really surprised at how good the photos turned out. My only complaint is that in some of them, the colors are muted (see the newest post), although to be fair, the colors in the Duomo were muted too.

Those are very interesting pictures. The view from your deck changes quite a bit with the weather. You don't get a lot of rain there, but I bet when you do it's quite a spectacle at times. I remember when you showed some pictures of storm damage quite a while back.

I love your view!!!
I miss having great views. When I lived in Brooklyn Heights I could see lower Manhattan and the Brooklyn Bridge and the East River.
Now, I can see trees from my deck (which is pretty) but a parking lot from my front windows. (which is not pretty) ;)

As ever, thses are wonderful photos and you ahev a really amazing view. I think your pictures of downtown capture the contrast between things man made with the natural sky. And that sunset id lovely. I was driving accross the Severn Bridge the other day adn watched the sky change second by second. There was a full moon which was bright and glowing and it looked very drmatic as I drove over the bridge. As ever, thanks for sharing your pictures with us.
