More to come....
Hello! It is so nice to see a new post from you :-) I do hope that this means that you are feeling much better? Your pics of those flowers and the plant are wonderful as ever. I wish I could smell them for myself! Once more you have captured nature in action beautifully!
I am on the mend btw, and even managed to get out and about a bit at the weekend. I took pics adn will share them soon!
Indeed it has grown. That would be a sore if you get pricked by it.
The flower above is so beautiful as if I can smell it from here. It looks very similar to our Calachuci.
Thanks for stopping by.
How beautiful Naomi!
That is a plant I can say I've never seen before! What great blooms!!! You sure have the touch (or non-touch .. ouch!) with your plants to have them all blooms so great for you!
Ihave never seen that plant before. The blossoms do look very much like plumeria, and the leaves resemble a rhododendron. Perhaps they all have the same genetic roots way back when.
Beautiful plant.
You have to be the only person I know who actually has a plant from Madagascar!
What lovely flowers.
What beautiful flowers. I only wish that we could smell them! That's one thing the internet cannot do...lol! I hope the fact that you are posting means you are feeling much better :)
Different and oh, so pretty! I had a small plant like this one before the flowers...it died on me, I know, I lack the green thumb but I keep trying! Lovely pics, Naomi, beautiful flowers. This is the best show ever, Mom Nature's.
Give Wendy a big hug for me!
Yes, the prickles look longer for sure, must be the sun out west there.
That flower plant is so beautiful, stickies and all! Probably couldn't withstand our winters.
They look like they would smell good! They remind me of something I like smelling and can't for the life of me put my finger on it.
The close up with the bristles is awesome! It is like abstract art!
Wow! And the blossoms are beautiful, kinda white with a buttery glow. How unusual!

Those are beautiful flowers and they sure do resemble plumeria flowers. Except, as I did a double-take, the petals on plumeria are a little narrower, I think.
And HOOBOY, I would not wanna get near the trunk of that thing if I weren't paying attention, that's for sure. :)
beautiful blooms....your pics are amazing. always a pleasure to have you visit my blog...and I just might be inclined to do the favorite books post...
Blessings,
Donna
Naomi, thanks for the visit. No, I have never been to London, but we have it on our "to-do" list. Mr. kenju flew through there once, on his way to Tel Aviv, on business. He really wanted to stop in London, but time didn't permit.
From looking at the flower you'd never think the plant would be so mean looking!
Such detail in the stickers! You're getting very handy with the camera.
Only 12 more days Madam Judge.... getting exciting.
Pachypodum, what a nice name! Lovely plant Naomi. That is awesome. Those blooms are so lovely indeed. It would be nice if we could scratch and sniff!! Ha!!
Thanks for the great pictures.
How exciting to meet a blogging friend soon too!!
Naomi, I answered your question on my comments section. And I wanted you to know, I'm just as glad I met you!
Hugs,
~S
Some of those pictures look almost alien plant life :)
Seven more sleeps !!
BTW I posted two pics of me today so you will know who it is arriving. Ignore the weird look I don't know what i was doing.
What a lovely plant. The flowers looks like from this tree called calachuchi. It's very fragrant and frequently use in fiestas as decors on saints and other statues.
They DO look like little palm trees, don't they? And the flowers are just exquisite!!! Thanks for sharing.
Wow! What a beautiful plant and flower, Naomi! Very unusual flower, I think! When I hear about Madagascar, I remember the gorgeous Lemur I saw on Discovery Channel! They are amazing creature!
Absolutely amazing, Naomi. That these spectacular flowers could result from such a dangerous looking trunk. The flowers look almost like velvet. I can only imagine their sweet scent. That trunk does look downright lethal...that was the first word that came to mind when I saw it.
Thanks for sharing these.
And I'm SO jealous that Wendy gets to meet both you and the lovely flowers. Have a ball!
They're such lovely photos of your flowers and plants. You're making me jealous. LOL
Have a happy day!
Beautiful!! Everytime I come here you wow me with your plant knowledge.
Amazing :)
Hi Naomi,
Your plants and flowers are beautiful. They remind me of George Herriman's Krazy Kat cartoons, which were actually influenced by Monument State Park and New Mexico in general. Same kind of cacti next to houses.
As my icon attests, I have an affinity for Herriman.
Have a nice evening!
Rick
Love that pale yellow center with the creamy white blooms. I'll have to look through my pics and see if they had one in the desert exhibition at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden.
OOOOOHHHH what can I say. Beautiful aliens from out of space. They make me feel unglued!
