Okay. Where I blog is pretty messy looking, but I know where everything is and this is how I like it. Looking at this, you would think that "Clutter" is my middle name. (lol) I blog in my bedroom. I've always worked in my bedroom. I painted more than 700 paintings of all sizes in this room and thousands of drawings, too. My bed is like my desk in many ways. (Not all the time, mind you...) And that's the way I like it, too. There was a time, before computers...yes, there actually was a time before computers....when I wrote in the dining room. In fact, I wrote all my plays on a typewriter there on the dining room table. But I write music, at this piano. This is the piano I grew up with and learned to play the piano on. In fact, all of my siblings learned to play on this piano. This is a corner of my living room, near the windows that face the city.
I was standing by the piano when I took this next picture. One of the things I have always loved about my house is how one room flows into the next and it is a very spacious house. As you can sort of see, though it is dark, the front door is beyond the living room, where there is a very wide and open hallway, almost like another room in itself....And here is the view looking from the other side of the living room back towards the piano which is on the extreme left of this next picture.... And you can see on the far middle right there is another little white piano....this is an electronic piano, and it looks just like a Baby Baby Baby Grand....and just beyond the little piano is the Dining Room....like I said, one room flows into another and it is a very open house...
And here is the little Baby Baby Baby piano, all by itself. Next, there is my Kitchen. This shot is just a portion of the kitchen. The light in there is really not great, but, I think you get the gist. I have not changed anything in this kitchen since I moved here 42 years ago, except the floor, and I repainted, but made the color of the shutters exactly as they had been before. I wouldn't have changed the flooring, but it was a must. Otherwise, all the appliances and woodwork is "original", and I love it that way! (I keep saying that, don't I...lol) It's very "retro" they tell me.... This is a "lived in" Kitchen. This is a "lived in" house. I will show one more picture of the kitchen because I want you to see the fridge. You have to remember that my home was built 45 years ago. This Kitchen was considered fabulous, at the time! I mean a "pink" Fridge...now you don't see that too often and one that opens right to left, too! In fact a "pink' dush washer, too....This stove is Electric, (not so great with the power outages and truthfully, not so great for cooking, either)...and, it all sort of folds up and that four burner thingy goes back into the wall, so it all looks kind of flush. I leave it out most of the time cause it's just easier that way.
And last, but not least, one more photograph of an area of another room in my home. This is one wall of my Den/Library. I love this room....there is another full wall of books to the left of this picture with cabinets below for my stereo equiptment and 'records' and CD's, and some of my Sheet Music Collection. And there are more book shelves, as you can see, on the right wall as well....I feel like my home is very conducive to creativity. This room is kind of inspiring in it's way, just as each of the other rooms are, too.
This has been fun and I may do some more posting of some of the 'Objets' that grace the walls and tables...these things inspire me, too, and have deeply enriched my life with their presence. Hope you have enjoyed this "Home Tour" as much as I have enjoyed putting it together.
Wow judging the Emmys! How exotic...Love your house. I could do with a security gate, lol, to keep the monsters in not shut them out. I love your pianos, particularly the tiny one. I have a sad old keyboard, but one day...Liberace here I come! Blessings.
You have a very nice home. I think I couldlive in your den and never leave!
Such a beautiful, beautiful home you have Naomi!! Though I don't know you all that well, it all seems for fit what I do know of you!!
Love the book shelves! and the collection of tiny teddy bears on the sofa in that room! lol
This is beautiful I could get lost in the book room!!!
I love your home...like me you like whites and big spacious rooms that flow into each other.
I notice we both have a thing for decorating our fridge too! Beautiful home and beautiful artwork....
Very pretty!Loved all the pictures and books you have..
Great shots Naomi! You took a few more than I did. I had dogs following me everywhere! LOL
Love, love, LOVE the library with those built-in bookshelves! Thanks for sharing!
Great photos. I love love the wall of books, and the evidence of all your creative processes.
I really enjoyed the tour of your house Naomi! And I really love your house! I have always wanted ceiling to floor bookshelves like the ones you have, I just love that 'feel' of having a library all around you. Oh, and your baby baby grand is divine! Thanks for sharing. :)
You have a beautiful and lovely home, and so big too!
It's been a while since I visited. But your home looks just like I pictured it. Lots of books, and it seems pretty comfortable.
I love the library. What a cool place to retreat to!
I LOVE all your artwork - when I'm out your way again, I may have to pay you a visit so I can take the tour in person. :-) The gates outside are gorgeous - as is your entire house. Thanks so much for doing this...and don't you dare touch that kitchen. It is perfect as is. :-)
You have a very lovely home! so spacious!
Oh, what a spacious home! And so inviting. I love the cow picture above your computer. :D
I love all the books and the little piano and all the art - just wonderful!!
What a lovely house you have Naomi... Thank you for inviting us all in...
Your house looks so inviting...and so obviously your house. It fits you. And you it,too! Absolutely lovely.
I LOVE the security gate, I wish I had one to keep the riff-raff away. I HATE it when I forget to lock my screen door and someone opens it to knock on the door and they're standing right there, too close! Ugh.
I LOVE your kitchen, too, it's so "retro" which is in style again now. I lived in an old house once that had a refrigerator just like that. And why don't they make ALL refigerators with the freezer on the bottom, it only makes sense.
You have such a lovely home. I love your artwork too. Thank you so much for sharing another part of you. It's wonderful just like you :-). Have A Wonderful Weekend!!
Oh how beautiful! I'll always think of your sitting there typing.
Thanks for visiting mine!
I've always been envious of homes with pianos. And book covered walls...
Thanks for sharing!
Wow Naomi!
Your home is great! I love the pianos, I love the books, I love the art, the retro kitchen, I love the cluster in your bedroom (just like mine hehe)! Thank you for sharing this with us.
And thank you for visiting and the tip on the Emmys (I didn't know that!)
Have a great weekend judging!
LOVE the pink 'fridge! My very first apartment here in California had turquoise blue sink, range top, oven & dishwasher. The other apartments in the complex had either pink, green (neon green, not the avocado green of the 70's) or brown!
I would have done this if I had my act more together. Well, you know I've already been in your house... in a dream! It's great and you'll be happy to know that my desk is much messier than yours (which is probably partly why I don't show it off).
Also, I do most everything from my bed! It's like my satelite station! I meditate, eat, write, and etc there. And when people come over, we often end up on my bed! The TV is in my bedroom too.
PS Pink is so in!
This was a fun post! Your house is lovely and I love the piano! :)
I just love your wall of books. I'm jealous... and the fridge, that's to die for!
The gates are fabulous, Naomi, and while I don't need them here, I would love to have them at the end of my driveway! I love that tiny piano also. Does it sound like a big one - or is it more like a harpsichord? Thanks for doing the tour - everything looks great (except the pink fridge...LOL. I don't like pink much)
Thank you so much for letting us see a glimpse of your home...it's really lovely and has a very welcoming feel to it!! This Tour of Homes was a brilliant idea:-)
I could easily hang out in your home Naomi. I love that your fridge is covered. So is mine! I should have taken a pic of that!
I love the look of the gates..
Thank you so much for the home tour..
I really love it!
Great pictures..
Great house..
Great Woman!
Have a wonderful day!

Hi again Naomi,
Michele sent me this time! Should I say again that I just loved your house? I loved your house. You can feel creativity and art all around it.
Thanks for inviting us in! You really did a nice job with the pictures of showing how the rooms flow into one another. Very open and welcoming. Love your pianos. Pastormac dreams of a library like this with floor to ceiling bookshelves!
LOVE your house, and the den library is definitely my favorite, I could just picture myself with a book in my hand......just gorgeous. :)
Love all the little glimpses into your home, my home is much more vintage and retro being built in 1890 LOL
I will email you later and try and pinpoint a closer time day for the great meeting of the minds ;)
OldOldLady... your home is wonderful! I, too, think it is conducive to creativity! You sure do like Stuff! I have a lot of Stuff too... my oldest daughter calls it clutter... but it's my Stuff! And I like it!
I didn't do the Tour of Homes. I only just found out about it last night and it would have been a lot of work to have it ready for visitors today! LOL!
Thanks, doll for letting us just pop in and tour your place! It is a lovely home for a lovely lady!
Naomi you have a beautiful, beautiful home! Each corner is gorgeous, with much personality and charm! Love so much your bookshelf! What a pleasure visiting your home! I will come back tomorrow to see more details!
PS.I also submit my blog Glance-Olhar, http://glance-olhar.blogspot.com/2006/07/tour-of-homes.html
but it's show a message delete link and I don't no what is happen!
You have such a beautiful home, Naomi :-)
I can almost hear cyberkitten slavering over those books from here!
Wonderful photographs and such delightful narrative too - I really felt I was walking through your home.
Thank you, my dear.
cq
this place is just dripping with your personality...I love it!!!
:-D
Thanks for the tour of your home. You have so many pretty things to look at, love the artwork!
I've had a busy day, shopping, visiting my aunt at the nursing home, etc. and I'm FINALLY getting to read my blogs this evening.
I can't tell you how much I enjoyed the tour of your home! What a great place, Naomi. It IS a shame that the security gates are required, but gee, they look really nice.
What an upscale, yet cozy, looking home. Loved seeing where your computer is, and just love your pianos....really nice. I just loved the entire "feel" of your home (even in photos) and I can see why your creativity is stirred there. Lots of good energy.
I was amazed you've lived there for 42 years...I didn't realize that. And really chuckled at the pink fridge and dishwasher...wow! ONLY in California.....lol
Thank you so much, Naomi, for allowing us to visit inside your home.
PS...really captivated by ALL those books and those bookshelves. Going off now to see if hubby might be interested in another little project at our house...lol But you've got me beat, I think, on the amount of books.
Your lovely, classy home is lived in by a lovely, classy lady.
Love the tour. You have a beautiful home. I like your pianos and of course your book collection.
Hope to see more. Cheers to another wonderful weekend!
those bookshelves are FABULOUS! I have big dreams of lots and lots of bookshelves.
Thanks for stopping by my blog today! It's nice to "meet" you! I love your pianos - I hope we can get one soon!
wow. what a great space!!! Book books... I feel like I left otut major details on place :-) We are in the hills on the pennisula.
Oooo! Great house!!
(Is that headache medication on your blogging spot?? I have mine on my desk, too! *I noticed that my Tylenol even made it in my Bloggy Tour of Homes photo!! HA HA!)
Thanks for the tour!
Blessings! ~Beckie
Oooohh! Thanks for the tour! Your pink appliances rock!
I LOVE that painting by the front door!
Wow have you read all those books?
And what lovely pianos.
I am lovin' that pink fridge!
An artist's home. I could live there. And there's plenty of room for my bass amp!
Thanks for your hospitality! I enjoyed it.
Oh I love your house. Do you know your kitchen looks just like the one on Bewitch. I found that funny that was the first thought that came to my mnind.
Your home is so lovely Naomi. Nice to see your computer and where you work at. I love your lived in kitchen. It makes one feel like they could just make themselves to home!! I also noticed a tall cat condo in one picture! Love the cow picture to the left of your computer!
Very cozy and comfy place. Thanks for the tour!!
I love the glimpse into your home. Thank you so much for sharing. I must now go and wipe the drool from my lips over your wall of books. Oh, how do you spell heaven for me? Why B-O-O-K-S, of course. :)
I love the floor-to-ceiling books! And the piano too. It's a lovely home.
The pink applicances took my breath away! I enjoyed the tour of your home. (one of my favorites from the others....yours looks real!) Mine is really lived in and in the middle of a 'rejuvenation' and didn't make this one....maybe next time. Your piano and it's story is priceless. I have my childhood piano and love it too! Thanks for sharing!!
I love your wall of books! Thanks for sharing.
What a lovely home you have. I love your kitchen too. I didn't notice the appliances were pink until I was reading your descriptions. I honestly think my grandma had a fridge like that when I was younger, only it wasn't pink. She has always had one with the freezer in the bottom. My parents also had a stove like that years ago. It was kind of neat I thought. Thanks for letting me visit.
Your home is lovely. This tour really was a lot of fun. I could never find time to visit as many states and countries as I did with the tour. Your bookshelves are wonderful - and better yet, full of books! Wow!
This certainly was fun and while I knew you would have a nice place after seeing some of your plants, that front gate is to die for.
Those magnificent wrought iron gates ARE what they are--another masterful "OOL" art piece. They would be a thing of beauty, even if tomorrow the need for their utilitarian function vanished. I hope each time you pass thru them, you rejoice in their aesthetic contribution to your world, rather than that they are necessary to screen out the "door-bangers" and vandals.
To anyone who took the tour, and has a trendy, 21st century aversion to "clutter" I say:
Creative mess is better than idle tidyness!
You are truely an inspiration to those of us who have our books in boxes, our art supplies tucked away in the corner, "dust" on the piano and "precious" objects stored in safe places. This is not only a tour of you home, it is a glimpse into you soul. It is time for me call the carpenters and open my boxes. You may also inspire the younger readers of your blog to open their home to the importance of their creative side. Thank you!!!
You have lots going on in your home-I love that because mine is the same way! I have about 300 books-I don't feel too bad now.
I had to chuckle because we just ripped out our 46 yr old honey maple 'no storage' kitchen. I do like your pink appliances and I have never seen an 'see-thru' oven before.
Have fun judging the Emmys. : )
Your refrigerator and dish washer are way cool!!! I love the pink. It was neat seeing the space you blog at. I'm blown away by the amount of books you have. WOW!!
Thanks for sharing, Betty :)
ok, I really did your house!
I love your home! Thank you so much for taking the time to show it on the Tour. I love the lounges, looks like the perfect place to... well, lounge :) I agree with above posters, all 'fridges should have the freezer on the bottom!
Thank you for stopping by my house - it was fun to come and visit yours - unique in so many ways and so interesting! This has been such fun. Come visit again!
Very envious of the library and I LOVE the chaise lounge in your living room. The baby grand is adorable too.
That is a lovely home - love love love the baby baby grand!
Your home Naomi is quite nice! And you have alot of books! Wow!
First of all, the pink fridge is now totally in style. I have a friend who would give her left arm for it. Secondly, your ovens? So cool!
Hi Naomi, I am here again to another visiting. I also love your ample space and how one room flows into the next. I love seeing how my blogger friends live and decorate their houses and I think it's say a lot about their personality. Your home has an artistic and creative personality like you have. I love also the black hippo on the Baby piano and what an amazing this art on the wall! It’s looks like a Greek tunic. Who did this beautiful piece of art?
Have a great Sunday!
Oh my gosh! Your home is awesome! It does look very lived-in, and very well-maintained! Some hmoes look too lived in. Yours is just right. I sense that you have a lot of creative passion in you and wow, you are one woman who loves to learn. That library of yours is gorgeous and it would be great to spend oen afternoon there... or more!
Michele sent me! Thank you for giving us a tour of your beautiful home!
I love your pianos! Your house is very inviting. I think it's great that you have so much of your artwork showcased in your home. And you help judge the Emmys?! How interesting! Thanks for the tour!
I love your home!!!!!
And I laughed out loud about your bed being your desk, because I call my bed "Command Central". I practically live in it, with my laptop and usually with the TV on. (Lucas has taken ownership of my living room).
I'm so excited that you're judging the Emmys!!
I have to say... if I came for a real visit, you'd find me continually lost in the books of your library! Simply magnificent! I do hope you would play something for me on either of those pianos as well. Thanks for the visit... your home is simply beautiful!
Beautiful - just like you, dear Naomi.
What a wonderful home you have there. Sounds like you are leading a very interesting life! Hope your power stays on!
I think your home reflects you quite well. It is cool and comfy and inviting and filled with fun things that capture the eye. It all has a natural and unpretentious elegance. I love it. I esp. love that library. Oh, always dreamed of having a wall of bookshelves. :)
Thank you for sharing that!
~S
What a huge display of artwork! I love that it totally surrounds you no matter what room you enter. And the gates are beautiful!
Thnaks for sharing your little slice of heaven with us.
What a beautiful home!! I love all the artwork and creativity you have. I also love the gates on your door!!!
Judging the Emmy's?Okay I'm adding your blog to my favourites!!!
Thanks for inviting us in!!
Lovely home. It's surely not clutter - that would be my work space. We trip on toys in that room. ;) You have simply "lived in and well loved."
Thanks for the tour.
I love those gates. Very creative. Thanks for the tour
Oh goody, I am comment #90? I LOVE that white chair you have. I can see myself just plopping down in it & taking a nap, lol. Your house is a home. It's so comfortable & lived in. Your kitchen is MASSIVE compared to ours. I was hoping to see Sweety's dishes, but I did see his climbing thingie. The color of your rod iron gate really makes it look appealing.
The sheet music on your piano reminds me of about 100 sheets of music my mom got when my aunty died. They were from songs my grandmother used to sing, some were plays & some were spanish dramas. They had a certain name, but I forget what they were. Many were from the 30s and 40s.
Thank you for sharing your home with us.
Wow! Your house is amazing! Especially all the art everywhere! Thanks for the tour!
Your home is very warm and inviting...I can't believe you need gates up there in the hills.
Your oven is a Frigidaire Flair...they used a Flair on the "Bewitched" TV series.
They actually have discussion groups on google about this oven, and they sell the oven and its parts quite often on ebay. Thank you, Kevin
