Oooh, firsties!
All of your pictures are always so captivating - even more so because you write rich stories around each one.
But it's the first picture that totally resonates with me. The focus on the rain drops on the window, and everything beyond thrown into soft focus by the camera's narrow depth of field, is just right for this image.
Pictures can be magical. This one proves it. I hope you never put down your camera or your pen.
I always love your pictures. Thanks for sharing them!
Hi OOLotH,
So that's the storm you mentioned last week!
Michele sent me, OOL.
Holy crap! I'd be scared to death if my house was on stilts, Naomi! I hope they're sturdy!
Your location is quite amazing. It'd be something else to wake up to that every morning--as long as the house stays put, that is. On stilts! Amazing.
Carmi--Thanks sooo very muh! I take that as a great compliment coming from you, my dear because you photographs are fantastic! I think you are sooo very talented as a writer and as a Photographer! And yes, pictures can truly be magical...
Karin-- Yjanks so very much Karin...I enjoy photography and always have...Sometimes I wish the camera could truly take what my eyes see, you know?
Carol--Yes Indeedy..THAT was the storm I spoke of...A really scary one!!!
Utenzi--LOL! Yes...Stilts that are these HUGE Metal thingys and there are NINE of them, I believe...When I bought the house 380 years ago, a very good friend who was a builder took a look at it fir me and he said that it was incrddibly built and he was very very haooy with everything he saw underneath.. And when we had the 1994 Earthquack, another builder person who had done some work in my house when asked by me did he think that my house was safe...He said Looking me square in the eyes..." Naomi if there is another eartyhquack do you know where I want to ge? In Your House!!!" (I hope I have not jinxed that having written it here...lol)
So...all I can tell you, I have been here a very long time and I forget that I am on "stilts"..these things go way down deep into the ground...like 16 feet or something...and I am told this is a very good thing.
So far...so good, Utenzi, my dear...
great images as usual..
nice work..
you live in the hills i would give almost anything to live in..
I live on the other side...
I hate to tell you this but something horrible is about to happen the Globe gift bags are being given out tomorrow. There will be rioting and pillaging in and around the three locales from what I have heard.
Watch my blog late tomorrow for an update LOL
Michele sent me, Naomi.
I hope you didn't like that plant a lot. It looks like it's in pretty bad shape right now. I guess desert plants have to be tough, so I guess it'll survive.
You have pretty pictures, Naomi.
One thing I really LOVE about your site (whenever I visit) is that you have the ability to make it feel like I am RIGHT THERE WITH YOU! I am sure others feel the same! Truly. I do love your blog. So captivating.
I am hee via Michele today, but I have been here many times before. Keep up the great work!
Funnily I recognised the last picture of downtown LA.... from the movie Terminator 2.
Weird what you pick up from the movies...................
What a gorgeous and amazing view Naomi! It's wonderful! Great photo, too!
And what a scary storm! On the top of the hill you can see all the fury of storm!
I hope the sun shine very soon!
I love storms when I am safe inside and I can watch the lightning hitting the Med in the horizon... I also live up on a (small) hill, the neighbors at sea level get all the water in their garages! I's rather be up on my hill. Don't worry, dear, nothing terrible will happen, friday the 13th was two days ago!
Interesting house...I mean the stilths. Thank God your family is safe. Hope everything is back to normal by now.
Btw, Michele sent me Naomi.
oh my! That is a lovely view! Yes, indeed if only the camera could capture what the eye could see! You're so blessed to have such a great location :-)
Oh, What a wonderful place to live, Naomi!!
I am soooo jealous - but you worked hard and earned it, so I'm not really :-)
MSM - this time....
cq
Wow, you do have an incredible view. What a cool place to live!
We're having extreme winds out here on the East Coast as well. Not fun!
Michele sent me your way, dear, although you skipped me!! :(
I know, I know. It is hard to keep track when there are so many at Michele's site.
Hello. Not only did Michele send me, but Jeni of Volcanic Sacrifices told me I had to check out your blog.
I sympathize about your tree. I haven't had a storm-downed tree in a few years but I'm from Miami originally so I've had a few in my life.
Hey Neighbor!
thanks for dropping by. I enjoy your photos from up the hill.
cheers,
Shane
gorgeous pictures as usual. You are very gifted both in photography and writing. Thanks for the visit. Michele sent me today
Storms are nice to watch from far, far away, but these looked too close for comfort. You are an amazing photographer btw!
Lovely pictures Naomi! Those clouds do look pretty frightening! Your views are fantastic all around! Thanks for letting me visit LA without having to leave home!!
Amazing pictures... it captures the essence of the storm from within. Fortunately it was not as destructive as a storm as the world had come to seen in the past.
Oh, Michele sent me to make sure the sun comes out for you!
Great pics!
Where I live at we get 2 or 3 tornadoes a year! It can get a little scary at times.
Here via Michele.
Hello, Michele sent me...but your pictures are amazing! What a view you have!
Those pictures are great! I especially love the first one because it captures the moment and feeling of it--
which is kind of hard for a still to do with motion and water..
Oh gosh...once again your incredible view just amazes me. And that weather you captured? Well, that's pretty amazing stuff, too.
Beautiful photos! I love LA! We're so close to you , yet so far away. Only an hour or so if the streets were deserted! Can you believe the rain!
Oh and Hi! I'm from Michele's!
Awesome. You make me feel like I'm there. My husband's from San Pedro.
Michele sent me tonight, but I've been here several times before and I'll be back!! :)
Very nice photos, Naomi! I hope nothing happens to LA too; my daughter and 2 of my grandchildren are there now. They went to Universal today and tomorrow Disneyland is on their menu!
If it weren't for the still gorgeous view, I'd swear you relocated to my town! (Although it was sunny here today!)
Michele says hello! :)
Beautiful pictures yet again.
But Nature isn't vindictive, it just is. Don't worry about being proud of your garden - you should be proud of helping other things to live!
It's nice to know it rains in paradise:-)
beautiful pictures even though scary weather. i love storms, but hate the danger associated.
We lost power all weekend due to the high gusty winds. I love the view you have of they sky...but the massive city below is sort of overwhelming.
Hey, there's water on my computer screen!
I left some information about Acourt on my post today for you.
I showed hubby your pictures, he's been to LA several times on business....I'm insisting he brings me the next time!! We agree, your view is nothing but spectacular!
Always a joy visiting you!
What wonderful WONDERFUL pictures!
WoW!
Stunning photographs.
I thought it was a view from a window, but it is so interesting to see the transformation take place.
Dayum your view is even better than I'd ever imagined. It's no wonder you love living up on that hill! If I were you, I'd never come down.
