One sees just about everything here in Los Angeles....Above, a House that has about, I believe, twenty reproduction-statues of Michelangelo's David out in front....They line the driveway, which goes through from one street to another----this being a corner property----and they go almost to the edge of the property on both sides.......
They kind of guard the house, in a way.....(All these photo's were taken through the car window, so the color and position are not the best....)....It is quite a sight to see---believe me.
There are some other statues, too...but The 'David's'---one might say---dominate, in all their abundance....! There is one---yes, just one that I could see, that is---Venus De Milo reproduction.......
She is featured in a spot all her own.....! Then, there are a few "heads" of other people on pedestals that are attached to the house itself---around and near the roof.....!
You can see them dotting the roof area covering different spots on top of the house---there is one that looks like it needs some help right there in the middle of the picture--you can see it better if you click on it to make it bigger......
This one above is listing a bit, too.....Below, a closer look at the Head, itself........
And there are a few of these Woman's Head, below, too......
I wasn't able to count them---but there are a number of them, also....The young man who decorated the inside and the outside of his house is a musician, thus, the G-Clef on the front door gate.......
As you can see in the second picture----the G-Clef, in white----is behind a black "N", the young man's first initial.....and I believe that is a security gate covering the front entrance to the house......Oh, and let's not forget these Lions heads that are here and there, too.......
But to me, the most interesting thing about this house, as well as the prettiest thing, too---in my view---is this window.......

The colors are much brighter but because all these photographs were taken through the car window---it cut back some on the true colors. Still, I thought this was a very pretty window.....! There is a video about this house and you can see it, here........
Los Angeles never disappoints, my dears....There is always something else one hasn't seen before, and I've lived here for over 50 years now.....! So, hopefully, I will come across some other things I haven't seen before and you can be sure that I will share them with you, if I do......More To Come..........

I am with you, I much prefer the understated beauty of the stained glass window, to the ostentatious statues, which would probably have looked great, if there were just many less of them and they were tastefully positioned.
I have an uncle who lives in Glendale California, who has been making stained glass windows for the last 50 or so years.

This post reminded me instantly of Tyrone Power's old house. It was Tyrone's, right? The one off of Sunset that was painted, what, lime green? It was back in the early 80's. All of the statues on the outside of that house had, um, pubic hair painted on them. It was hideous. Am I remembering this correctly? The 80's were a blur. Ha!
Too many Davids here for my taste, but you did remind me how much fun it was to drive the hills and look at the houses.

Hey Stan....The house you are referring to was NOT Tyrone Powers house. Dear Gorgeous Mr. Power was long gone when that house was built....It was owned by a Sheik! And those statues were really Hideous. (lol) They make 'The Davids' look like Fine Fine Art!

Being in the country all I could think of is how useful they would be as scarecrows! I think it would take me a while not to be startled by them. I appreciate that the owner want's to live more simply now and enjoyed the name of his video: 20 Naked Men on my lawn. It's beautiful inside but I was shocked that he said the upkeep on the place was $30,000 a month.

Too many for me! All those things would have to go if I were rich enough to buy such a house. I enjoyed the inside tour. My goodness, the man has a twirling wardrobe!! The master bath is almost as big as our whole house!! And $30,000 a month to maintain?? Goodness gracious me!!!

Ps I cant help it those staues are terrible. One might be ok. Thirty six years ago I worked on murder by death and before they destroyed the molds on these original gargoles they made thm out of concrete for me, fifty five bucks each. Im so proud of them, a griffen a unicorn a lion an eagle and a bear. A twenty eight or twenty nine year old Harrison ford who live across the st helped me lift the heavy bear into the wet cement. That is true Los Angeles. It is made of a variety of tastes and it is where you can find such houses. I enjoyed the visit. I looked at the YouTube showing the inside. It certainly would take a special type of person to buy such a house – I don’t think I could stand looking at all those David every day.

Loved George's comment about Harrison Ford. hell yeah he could carry my statues any day. As for these ones well I do love all white and I do love buying more than one of something if I love it and I do love the David BUT it a little Over the top for me. BUT a home is about making it your won and so if he lvoes it I respect that at least. Loved seeing these photos though. More of the same please on your next trip out.
