a birthday tease

Does this woman look 85 years old? Well, that is what she is! Seemah looks utterly wonderful and fantastic! On July 26th she turned eighty-five years old and on Thursday, we celebrated her half-way mark with a "Ladies Who Lunch".....! I have a lot of organizing to do of the many pictures I took, so, this is just a bit of a tease post...... The theme of our Gift Bags this time was Being A "Princess"....so a lot of stuff in the bag was related to that----thus, the 'Crown' you see on Seemah's head.....In the picture just above was the little individual Rose in a clear pale pink glass that each of my guests could take home with them....Such a beautiful simple and lovely idea, from the wonderful Van. And above, another very beautiful arrangement from the already mentioned Van.....There were some extraordinary flowers in this one, as there always are....You will see more as I go along.....Just know, I am having a lot of 'life issues' that need to be dealt with, so forgive me for not posting more often and not visiting more often, too.....

I am finding things harder and harder to deal with----Refrigerators that keep breaking down---even during the LWL.....Oy; Ants that have invaded my house and seem to be taking over---Hoping to get rid of them tomorrow; physical problems that are just wearing me out, etc., etc., etc.....I just don't seem to have the same resiliency that I use to.....Sometimes, like right now, I feel older than Seemah's actual age....Not complaining---just explaining.....lol!

I hope you all have a lovely relaxed wonderful weekend....and know that I will get around to everyone as soon as I can.....Thanks for understanding.....

More To Come.............

  1. Okay, now I know I've been reading your blog for awhile. I clicked on the page and saw the picture and before I even started reading, I thought, "hey, that's Seema!"

  2. I can only hope to have Seemah's youthful looks and your positive attitude, despite the tribulations, when I hit my eighties.

  3. A Very Happy Birthday to your friend Seemah! Does this beautiful lady looks 85 years old? No way! She looks much younger. What is her secret?

I am looking forward to see the photos of Ladies Who Lunch.
I hope you have a lovely weekend as well.

And thanks for your nice comments on my place. I always love when I see your name on comments!

  4. I know what you mean.

I haven't been posting as much as I used to and I haven't been visiting my favorite sites like I used to. It seems life just catches up with me.

Things that used to be so easy aren't so anymore. I'm not complaining either, but I think you've have friendly ears here that are just grateful that you're posting even if it is less frequently.

It's always a joy to see your photos. It's my little holiday from my world to see the beautiful plants, animals, arrangements and the wonderful lunches you have.

So post as you can, no pressure from your readers...we just like hearing about you regardless of frequency.

And you have a good weekend too!!

  7. A gorgeous lady indeed, and looking more like a "Princess" every day..... or is that the sparkly crown making her look that way???? I'm sure you all enjoyed a wonderful birthday lunch, and I'm looking forward to the pictures.
I have no idea what to do about ants in the house. But if they are outside on my patio, I pour boiling water on them.... sounds cruel, I know, but it usually does the trick!

  8. She's still quite fetching and I refuse to believe the "85 years" bit.

Looking forward to another in the "Ladies Who Lunch" series.

    Cheers.

  9. Seemah could pass for 60 in that photo!! The centerpiece is lovely and I can't wait to see more of the photos.

We've had tiny ants this summer, but I fight them every day. Hope you get your life issues settled soon; I know all about the lack of resiliency!

  10. She looks fantastic and would be beautiful for any age.

I am noticing differences, often just little things, for myself even though I am almost 66 and not 80 something. It is a gradual process, I guess and part of the cycle of life. Not so much fun at times though.

  11. Can you find out and post her secrets to looking so good? We have carpenter ants that are eating us out of house and home.

  12. Naomi, I'm sorry to hear you're not feeling your best, but your blogging "voice" is always so cheerful...you write as though you feel like a million bucks! (Well, except the part where you say you feel older than Seemah.)

Btw, she is a beautiful woman! I cannot believe she's in her 80s! If I ever attend one of your lunches, "I'll have what she's having!" ;)

I can't wait to see what the Princess theme was all about, and hopefully, there'll be more pictures.

No hurry though. I know you need to take care of those ants and the little messes around the house...and then you'll be back. I hope you're feeling better today, my friend. All my best to you ALWAYS! xoxo

  13. a very happy birthday to seemah! she looks absolutely radiant and not at all her age!

naomi, you are such a sweetie to arrange this for her. she sure is lucky to count you among her friends. hope you don't stress yourself out too much with worrying about all the things that bog down. =)

  14. NO, she does not look like any 85 year old I know (and I know a lot). Youth, beauty, joy, springs from within---and good friends help keep one looking and feeling YOUNG. PS--Get better soon, I worry, OY VEY!

  16. Hi Naomi! I'm sorry to hear you are feeling out of sorts. I hope things do get better. I have slowed down on blogging and reading blogs too. It's so hard sometimes when we are busy with other things. We have to set our priorities and I think all bloggers understand!

Seemah looks so lovely and no way near 85!! Woweee!! She must have found the fountain of youth somewhere out there!! I have more wrinkles now than she does! Oy!!
Oh well...I've earned them I guess!!

Looking forward to more as always. Take care of yourself Naomi. Thinking of you. Big hugs!!!

  17. Take good care of yourself, Naomi -- a long bath, a scented candle -- and you are already doing the best thing, i.e. surrounding yourself with the beauty of nature. What lovely flowers, as always.

Getting together with your Ladies Who Lunch must contribute something special to both your and Seemah's joie de vivre!

  19. Seemah and I share a birthday!

I hope I'm aging as well as she is :)

  20. Seemah is really lovely and I suspect to look like that at her age you have to be lovely inside - which I'm sure she is.
You seem to have been very busy lately - mind you don't over-do it. We're not as young as we were.
I wish I could book my 80th chez vous:)

  21. I am not able to see the photos but I just can't believe that Seemah is 85 :D I have so much to learn from her and sending my best ever wishes to her Naomi :D

I will check on the photos again, will be busy for the next 3 days because of APEC Forum ya.

  22. No, that lady does NOT look 85! Or, maybe that is what 85 looks like? :)

I'm glad that despite the crummy things that are coming your way that you were able to have a visit with your buddies.

  23. Cheers to the birthday girl. I hope I look that good should fortune allow me to reach 60.

    Hugs to you

  24. Truly, I cannot believe it. I would like to know Seemah's beauty secrets because she looks incredible!!! It must be all those lunches you ladies have. So looking forward to the next one.

And its perfectly ok to explain yourself. I think you have a pretty bullet proof spirit and we are here to listen when things are not going to plan too. You always give us such positive posts, such beautiful posts so thank you for that. Especially when things are a little out of kilter. Now Van's flowers are exquisite.

If I lived closer I would come by and fix things for you.My sister and her husband and their three daughter are in LA for another few hours - they are flying back to Oz after living 10 years in London. I am very excited. Take care and now must catch up on some other posts I missed!!

  25. You know I am a pretty patient person so take as long as you need and get well and get rid of those Ants.. I hate when they invade the house. I have some in my bathroom I have been trying to get rid of...

  26. Wow no she doesn't look that age at all, but you all look so young in the photos I've seen.

Your world always looks so sunny, but I'm sorry you are having some real life issues too.

So I'm actually staying near you right now? I'm here in the Santa Cruz area, but we are flying to Phoenix on Friday. I could do with some sun!!

  27. Gosh, no! She doesn't look 85, but she ist truly beautiful.
