Wow..........
I once saw some photos of a woman with hummingbirds feeding out of her hand, so maybe your birds will eventually get friendly. Meantime, I love seeing your pix of them.
What beautiful pictures! I only saw a hummingbird once in "real life". He flew up to my picture window - I think he was confused by the reflection. He buzzed around for a few seconds and they disappeared. I would love to get a hummingbird feeder, but I would be afraid it would attrat bees which I'm not so crazy about!
Beautiful Naomi - just amazing. I have a hummingbird feeder and at times I see lots of hummers, this summer only a small handful of those "dear little birds." What a neat juxtaposition - the City so close the little bird. Thank you as always for sharing these incredible parts of the your world with us. Love and hugs xo
If I wasn't too old I'd swear I was PMS'ing because these photos made me cry lol I am such a caution!
There is just something so frantic yet fragile about hummers. And then to see him so close up with his sweet transparent wings and his froggy eyes!!
I love how you framed these, especially with the bar from the deck. And the city in the background.
Beautiful doesn't seem like enough of a word.
Your favorite picture is mine as well. He's clear and colorful and right in the middle of the action.
Beautiful photos, Naomi!
OMG Naomi! These pictures are fantastic. When I lived in West Virginia, we had a couple of hummingbirds that drank from the feeders right outside our sliding glass door next to our dinner table. We would sit there and watch them. Unfortunately, we don't have then here in NYC that I know of! I'll just have to stare at your pictures for a while longer!
Michele sent me over tonight and I'm so glad she did. Have a wonderful weekend!
Great photos Naomi! Here we have so many hummingbirds around my trees, but till now I haven't a good photo of them...
Love so much your amazing and gorgeous view! Really I would like to be there!
Have a nice Sunday!
of course they know where the good stuff is!... it's at that blinking sign you have saying "Hummers Welcome! Lotsa Food Here" hehehe... I am envious! :o)
Aren't you a clever little hummingbird yourself getting those shots? Very clever indeed. Wonderful.
The pink of the flowers against the blue of the sky and the wonderousness of those dleicate yet powerful hummingbirds is amazing, Naomi ! Another great set of photgraphs !
About that coffee table book...
Added you to my new 'foodie blog' links this morning. Thank you for being interested ! You were my first comment there, Naomi :) :)
If there is anything you think ought to change or be added to make it better, please feel free to let me know. It is in formation stage now :)
(hugs)
Loving Annie
You are right - it is amazing to see the city in such close proximity to all your nature. You do well in capturing them in your lens.
Naomi, those are absolutely amazing shots! I love the second last one. Hummingbirds are little miracles.
We have many flittering and fleeing all summer, soaking up the nectar in the flowers and i love watching them. They often get as close as yours did to my back window, but I've never been able to capture one with my camera.
Now............they have flown the coop for the winter! It's too darn cold here for those little ones the make it through the season. I miss them already. :)
Isn't it wonderful that those sweet little things visit anywhere from Hollywood to a rural Virginia town? They show no discrimination. I miss mine already.
You captured this so beautifully and I'll be excited to see this little birdie so near my window for sure :)
Have a nice weekend Naomi :D
Amazing photos, Naomi! I've tried and tried over the years to capture a hummingbird with my camera and no luck. They move way too fast!
I really enjoyed these. Especially the one of him actually drinking from the flower. That's really something.
And imagine...he does find his way to your flowers and balcony. That's so neat.

I love how those photos show the green and red on his neck. Such pretty colors!
I'd like for a hummingbird to land on my shoulder too, also, as well.
:-)
They are such precious, little birds.
Your photos of them are always wonderful.
Brilliant,as usual!
What a beautiful view you have from your patio. I love the picture of the hummer and the city in the background. Fantastic!!
What a magical way to return to blogging.....
He's a handsome little soul - and perhaps he will be back now he knows where the yummy nectar is...

oh how cool! I love hummingbirds and it's so rare when I get to see them. I had a feeder once outside my kitchen window that attracted them and it was awesome to watch them flit about. great pictures...and hello from Micheles.
Boy, you attract a lot of hummingbirds. What's your secret?
Naomi, I wonder if anyone has been able to photograph a humming bird without his wings moving?
What a vista Naomi! You have the whole world at your feet along with your beloved bids and plants. I think I would spend most of my time jut standing and staring. My wish is that you would sing to him the next time he comes:)
I've been away for a few days, dear and am catching up.
As always, lovely photos.
Cheers.
Great pictures. Thank you for having such a lovely garden and plantings that attract such amazing creatures. Thanks for sharing also.
You did GREAT taking those hummingbird pics. I have one that visits my porch but I have yet to get a decent pic of it!
I love the dear little things so...
They are so pretty!! I just love hummingbirds! We usally have only about 3 here each summer. I really like the up close photos with the distance in the background. Makes them look like they are high in the sky.....which they are really!!
What an adorable little guy and what perfect shots!
You're a swell photog, Old Lady. Thanks for sharing.
Fantastic shots - I also really like your favourite one.
I've tried to snap a humming bird (badly) and know just how difficult it is as they dodge around in all kinds of geometric patterns almost impossible to predict.
