And the other person in this photo is my late sister Robin, who died this past February...a loss I don't think I'll ever recover from....she was eight years older than me and inspired me in so very many ways, not the least of which was her encouragement and urging, at a very tender age, for me to keep writing, and not to worry about my spelling: 'Someone else can correct that, Naomi, what's important is what you have to say'.
Thank you dear sweet Robin, for that! I was about 9 years old at the time....and that is why I am still writing. I thank her for so much more...like, true unconditional love. A rarity, if ever, from another human being.
This next one is, as you can see, falling apart. I figured I better digitize this, before it's too late..(I do have other one's, but not quite like this one).
This is my brother Gordon and me. He is two years older than I am, and we were very very close as little children. He was my protector...he watched out for me and took care that no one messed with me.
I love him dearly and we are still close, to this day.
Miami Beach, Fla.
Yes, this is my family, with a few of the characters un-named, as yet.
They will be, I promise.
All in good time.
(I'm working on the next installment of The Cotswolds, and it will be posted, very soon....my lovely's....)
great pics - love from michele
Sorry about your sister. She sounds like a wonferful lady indeed, and so good that she encouraged you! I learned something too! Now I know your first name so I can stop calling you the OLOTH, Naomi! :)
I love the old pictures! You were a cute little girl. Maybe someday I'll post a picture of me when I was little!
Thanks for sharing! Love the post and still looking forward to the next one! (I'll be looking for more old pictures too!)
i absolutely love the short pants on the boy in the family photo (is that your brother Gordon?) You were definately a beautiful child as well. the picture by the bay is brilliant. i enjoy old family phtos, my mother and i occasionally post our old family photo finds as well, its fun!
I love the old photos, OO, and you really should have them preserved, or whatever it is they do to photos now.
Sorry about your sister. I am an only child and I have always been unhappy about that.
David--Thanks so much!
Rachel--Thank you..She was a very special person..I actually did write my name in another post or two, but I guess, like so many things, it got lost inthe shuffle...(lol)... I love old photi's too...Not all my picturs in this bad shape, but I thought these had a sweet quality and now they are DIGITALLY preseved!!! Do post some of your old photo's...it's an intetesting experience!!!
Dak-Ind--Yes, that is Gordon--he is in the small torn up looking photo and the larger photo, too, as well as my other sister, Gene, and then, Robin....
Judy--That's exactly what I'm doing, by scanning them into my computer. Now, they are 'digitized' and preserved forever..(we'll see about that!!!)..I then save them to a CD, too, so that if anything should happen to my Hard Drive..I still have these photo's in a digital format.... We should ALL be doing that with any and all old photo's and new, that are dear to us,and/or irreplaceable. And it is really fun, revisiting them..and touching, too..at least it is, to me.
I love looking at old familly pictures!! You were so CUTE!! I love the last picture, with everyone. The girls in their maryjanes and the boy in his short pants...so precious! I'll be looking forward to seeing more!
Here via Michele's!
Fantastic pictures ~ I love the one of you wearing white as a little girl! Your grandmother sounded like quite a lady!
Michele says "Hello!"
You had a very smart and caring sister, sorry to hear she left. I will remember what she said to you... I love pictures, old or new, yours are wonderful. I have been meaning to scan the old pictures, the best ones from those not so old, but I haven't gotten around it yet. A resolution for 2006 maybe? Have a nice sunday, mine has just started!
Ooo, Old family photo's there's a good idea for a blog, I have loads of my family from around 100 years ago :o)
Michelle sent me.
Looking forward to more Cotswold stories :o)
Morning OOL (here from Michele's but was planning to visit later anyhoo...)
Lovely photos. I recently got a nice one of my dad (who I don't remember). I must digitise it and keep it safe.

Morning, OO (if I may call you that). As for Nassau, we were only there 1 day and night. It was a 3-day cruise. We made the decision to go on the cruise in only a few days, and that one was all that was available at the time. It is a pretty place, but there is a lot of squalor there too. I like other places in the Caribbean much better.
lovely, lovely photos! thanks for sharing. more please. :)
Those are such wonderful pictures! I can't wait to hear your mysterious story behind the group photo! Here via Michele's today!
I like the one of you looking out over the railing. Cute dress, too.
Michele sent me back today.
here I am, back again :-)
I love that one of you by the railings....
Don't we all have one like that taken at about 10/12? :-)
Nearly Monday :-(

What lovely photographs...and what a great idea. I am definitely going to dig out the family album and start going through some of the old photographs...especially the old WWII photographs that my mother and father kept. Thank you for sharing those with us!
[squints at photo]
you're right, you know - look at those lovely chubby cheeks :-) 5 or 6 it is.
Michele sent me - not that I needed telling :-)

Lovely photo's - thanks for sharing - I'm here from Michele's too.
I absolutely love to look at old pictures. They all have stories to tell. Maybe I will pst some of mine at my blog.aghueio
Howdy, again, OOLOTH, Michele sent me back!
I love old pictures. There's a lot of character in them, isn't there? Thanks for sharing...looking forward to more. :)
HI, OO, yes it was the Association for Research and Enlightenment, the Edgar Cayce Foundation, of which we are life members. I was fascinated by the experiment, and how well it worked. Yes, the mushrooms looked just like tall "peni" (lol).
Great pictures, Naomi! You have a beautiful family, and you are so cute! Sorry about your sister.
Michele didn't send us, we just followed your link from our blog.
Hope you had a nice weekend!
Michelle inspired my visit.
Just today I thought I should get some of my vintage photos on my blogs....give them some air time.
So cool that I would visit your site today.
Sue
What wonderful pics!
Michele sent me to see you.
So just how much of the story going from these picture of a young girl to your preceding picture of a hard smoking, fast playing Hollywood insider are you going to tell? I'm sure it's quite a story.
And of course there's so much to tell after that picture of you playing pool at the party. The bitter, like the death of your sister, and the sweet that must have also graced your life.
The loss of a sibling is something I'm sure one can never get over. It is too big to overcome. My heart aches for the loved ones I have lost.
That journey on the boat would make me very seasick.
What a cute picture of you standing there like a little lady. You were a young young lady there!
What wonderful photos, Naomi! I'm so sorry about the loss of your sister. How lucky you were to have someone who encouraged you to write at such a young age.
I'm here from Michele's.
you're such a fantastic historian! I love your photos...
Here via Michele!
Here via Micheles. I love to look at old pictures. I post some of myself on occasion :)
You were an adorable young girl. I just love looking at the old black and whites. Heck, I just love looking at any black and white photo. I tend to take a few rolls of it myself every year.
Here via Michele.
michele sent me.
I love old pictures of people when they were young. They always look so eager for life.
My grandmother came from Ireland at the same age...on a ship alone too! I love old photos...the torn ones have such character. And families and siblings and ancestors...always warms my heart.
Love the vintage photography! Such fun to look at pictues like this. I've slowly been scanning some of my family's old photos in, and sharing them on my blog as I do so.
It's so fun to look at all your photos.
Sorry for the loss of your wonderful sister. She will always be in your heart. You have a nice looking family. My husbands parents live in Vero Beach, Florida.
Michele sent me back to take another look at your family pics! Have a nice day!
What a beautiful child you were (you're still beautiful, of course!). I love your white overalls in the Biscayne Bay photo, and your cute haircut. :o)
Sorry about your sister.
Just got off the phone with mine who is the biggest pain in the tush, but...
The pictures are great
How great to have so many pictures and with living stories to go with them. It's as important to save the context and significance as the images themselves.
oh my gosh, I love that post. I would also love to read more about your Grandma, she sounds like a strong & determined woman. obviously, loving too.
Sisterhood is an amazing thing. My sister is 10 years older, but we've always been close. As I watch my mom & my aunt, some things in sisterhoods never get old. The unconditional love, for one. My heart goes out to you.
That was an exceptional post, Naomi. Thank you for that glimpse into your family.
I read this again because the first time through (about a month ago), Blogger wouldn't let me post. grr!
Rose is a beautiful name. I was close to my grandmother, too. Seeing your photos of you and your family is utterly precious. I chose Rose as part of the name for one of my daughters. The other daughter is named after my grandmother.
I'm saddened to read about the loss of your beloved sister. Unconditional encouragement, like she gave you, is a gift far more precious than many realize.
