a visitor

All good things come to those who wait, and wait, and wait......v-e-r-y patiently. But, Oh, seeing this Hummer close up was worth every minute of 'the waiting'....... The light was going the wrong way, so I had to do some 'lightening' up so this dear little sweetheart could be seen as I actually saw him..... He was really busy.....And I loved watching him do his thing. This is one of the Succulent Flowers Stalks that are now pretty much over..... And I just kept snapping away, as fast as I could.....You have to really stay alert cause as you know these beauty's move very very quickly.... I love this picture above because of where he is and what you can see of his body from this angle..... And I love seeing the light coming through his wings, in this picture above.....Hummingbirds are such amazing little birds and I never tire of seeing them and watching them.....In fact, it always feels like I have been given a great gift when I see one.....And capturing it with my camera....Well, that is the icing on the cake....!I have some more pictures of another dear Hummingbird from another day, supping from some of the same flowers.

    You get the most amazing little visitors in your yard, Naomi, and yes, being able to capture them on camera is a bonus. I couldn't have imagined what it would feel like to observe a hummingbird at close range...but now I know. His colors are beautiful, and what a wingspan shot! Just beautiful.

    Thanks for sharing this incredible moment in pictures. I can't wait to see the other ones.

    Not only is the bird magical but the flower and the light, the angle.

    Great piccies of your little visitor. Over the last few days I have noticed a little Red Robin in our corner of the world. (They usually don't live up here so I wonder if he's lost or on holiday??) We don't have Hummingbirds but gorgeous tiny 'Sun birds' instead - I think they must be related to the hummingbird because they look very much alike...

    I always love these hummingbirds. I "stole" your top picture and am having fun doing different artsy things with it in Photoshop. I think I have about 4 versions so far.

    I have a hummingbird that visits but I can never get his picture!

    You set the standard. Your photos of the natural life existing in the city are calming.
    There are so many hummers and butterflies in my garden- but my little point and shoot doesn't do them justice.

    What super pictures of a tiny humming bird. I have seen them in my back yard too, but they are so tiny I often mistake them for a large bumble bee!

    Not only do hummingbirds move very quickly, but they poop three or four times per minute! Guess they have super fast metabolism! :)

    Such a beautiful little bird! It must have been wonderful watching him feed like that. I particulalrly love the first shot but they are all marvellous! You have such great little visitors to your garden :)
