All good things come to those who wait, and wait, and wait......v-e-r-y patiently. But, Oh, seeing this Hummer close up was worth every minute of 'the waiting'.......
The light was going the wrong way, so I had to do some 'lightening' up so this dear little sweetheart could be seen as I actually saw him.....
He was really busy.....And I loved watching him do his thing. This is one of the Succulent Flowers Stalks that are now pretty much over.....
And I just kept snapping away, as fast as I could.....You have to really stay alert cause as you know these beauty's move very very quickly....
I love this picture above because of where he is and what you can see of his body from this angle.....
And I love seeing the light coming through his wings, in this picture above.....Hummingbirds are such amazing little birds and I never tire of seeing them and watching them.....In fact, it always feels like I have been given a great gift when I see one.....And capturing it with my camera....Well, that is the icing on the cake....!
I have some more pictures of another dear Hummingbird from another day, supping from some of the same flowers. Next time, my dears........
More To Come.......

You get the most amazing little visitors in your yard, Naomi, and yes, being able to capture them on camera is a bonus. I couldn't have imagined what it would feel like to observe a hummingbird at close range...but now I know. His colors are beautiful, and what a wingspan shot! Just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this incredible moment in pictures. I can't wait to see the other ones.
Naomi, those are just unbelievable photos!! Good work!
ReplyDeleteNicely done on the photos. I become more impressed regularly with your artistic eye, especially at the macro level.
ReplyDeleteCheers.
all i can say is "awesome!"
ReplyDeleteHummers are so hard to catch, but like you said, for those who wait they are rewarded!! You captured some beautiful shots my friend!!
ReplyDeleteThis series of photos is like pastel poetry.
ReplyDeleteNot only is the bird magical but the flower and the light, the angle.
Ahhhh :)
Thanks for visiting my place, dear. Your comment is probably going to lead to a longer entry at my place, provided I find time to come up for air.
ReplyDeleteCheers.
Great pictures!! Man I wish I could see Hummingbirds around here and second, actually catch them on film.
ReplyDeleteYour blog always makes me feel the urge to move to sunny CA.
ReplyDeleteGreat piccies of your little visitor. Over the last few days I have noticed a little Red Robin in our corner of the world. (They usually don't live up here so I wonder if he's lost or on holiday??) We don't have Hummingbirds but gorgeous tiny 'Sun birds' instead - I think they must be related to the hummingbird because they look very much alike...
ReplyDeleteI always love these hummingbirds. I "stole" your top picture and am having fun doing different artsy things with it in Photoshop. I think I have about 4 versions so far.
ReplyDeletethank you for spreading the story :)
ReplyDeleteyou must tire of me telling you how great your photo's are!.. i just love the tiny hummingbirds! They always were such a precious part of my living in Ca, and I miss them.
ReplyDeleteGreat action shots!
ReplyDeleteI have a hummingbird that visits but I can never get his picture!
ReplyDeleteGreat job! I will go and visit that website also. I am very interested in the Suffragette Movement!
You set the standard. Your photos of the natural life existing in the city are calming.
ReplyDeleteThere are so many hummers and butterflies in my garden- but my little point and shoot doesn't do them justice.
Oh my gosh! What a fantastic capture. Just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteRandall is right; you have got an artistic eye so each photo becomes a work of art and would grace any gallery wall.
ReplyDeleteWhat super pictures of a tiny humming bird. I have seen them in my back yard too, but they are so tiny I often mistake them for a large bumble bee!
ReplyDeleteBRILLIANT pictures!!
ReplyDeleteNot only do hummingbirds move very quickly, but they poop three or four times per minute! Guess they have super fast metabolism! :)
ReplyDeleteLovely pictures. It's amazing how those beauties can make your day. :)
Hummingbirds amaze me! It just looks like they shouldn't be in the air but there they are.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful - I particularly like the picture where you can see through the wings.
ReplyDeleteFabulous photos of the lil' beauty!! You are so gifted, Naomi!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed all the pics, but that first one is a STUNNER!!
ReplyDeleteWOW!
Love that hummer!!!
